In the case of Oblivion, seeing bloom everywhere was likely a whole lot better than everything looking like it was set to fullbright in Hammer. Oblivion without bloom is pretty god damn hideous.

Pretty much what happened when I first played Silent Hill. The atmosphere alone was so intense, that I actually felt kind of nauseous. It's amazing what good sound and level design can do to us.
Depends on the game for me. Most of them don't bother me too much, although I have to say that Outlast kind of weirded me out at times. It was mostly the night vision stuff, some of that is horrifying on a first playthrough.
I didn't like Outlast that much. had some pretty bad animations which alone took away a lot of the "wow" factor. it also quickly evolved into hide and seek with underweight skeleton inmates with pre-programmed routes which wasn't very scary
the only games I really loved that I actually could play without taking an insane amount of breaks must be Penumbra. scary, but had enough breathers to not take breaks every 5 minutes. Amnesia on the other hand, I never played for more than 10 minutes at the time when I first played it. it was so scary
Unfortunately for Outlast, it has almost no replay value for me. Not to mention most of the enemies really aren't that creepy once you get a good look at them. Some of them are quite comical.

But I'm just referring to the environment itself when I say it weirded me out at times. Not the enemies or anything like that. I haven't bothered with the DLC either. Might pick that up when it's dirt cheap again.

the incident could very well not be about race, though it could in fact also very easily be about race.
Having a group like the KKK "back" the cop doesn't mean the cop shot the guy for being black, all that means is that the KKK is happy that the cop shot a black guy.
Though admittedly I don't even know what you're talking about, just saying that the KKK being fucking crazy probably has nothing to do with the cop, unless he went on TV or something and said "thanks KKK" you can safely assume it's not related.

nah ur right tbh the KKK is stupid and I was a bit silly but the cop is a racist piece of shit and the incident is 100% race related. Some white cop shot a black kid 8-10 times for no reason (cop says he was provoked physically, literally no evidence to back it up and there's contrary views from several people saying the kid was just walking at night and even tried to escape) and there's been some peaceful protesting composed mostly of black people and cops have been tear gassing and smoke grenading them and shooting people with rubber bullets and stuff.
basically it's either the cop is a racist piece of shit murderer or the police department couldn't train a cop well enough to restrain an aggressive teenager without having to resort to lethal force. it's definitely the former but the latter is probably not so far off either

According to every witness who saw what happened to Mike Brown, the police were the belligerents. They purposefully taunted and attacked Mike Brown, and the police officers who did it did so out of their own volition. The KKK being in support of the officer who shot him are obviously doing it because of race issues, because of their insanely staunch attitude of being against non-white/non-christian people. The officer who killed Mike abused his power to the highest degree and doesn't seem to be getting any backlash from other officers or even the police chief of Ferguson county over it.
