I've played plenty of 4e and it doesn't suck
aside from the actual rule differences, the overall difference between 4e and something like pathfinder is that 4e plays a lot more like a grid based tactics game with roleplaying ontop, whereas pathfinder puts less focus on the combat and more on the roleplaying (that being said, the amount of roleplaying you do in 4e is SOLELY on the DM)

The teacher that's going to be teaching it is the FUCKING WORST TEACHER IN THE HISTORY OF EVER. Anyways, my peer tutor must have flunked that test, because it brought her mark down from 70-something percent to [I]11%. I'm fucking serious.[/I] My peer tutor brought this up with her, and instead of fixing it like a normal teacher would, [I]she input the test in her mark twice.[/I] That means she had two entries in her marking scheme for the same test that was worth 75%. That fucked with my peer tutors mark to no end. To fix the teacher's mess, my peer tutor had to go to the fucking vice-principal and get him to sort it out.
And to make matters worse, a whole bunch of my friends and the girl I like were looking forward to this class. My plan is to go to this class for the first few days and see if they're going to switch out of it. If they do, I'll join them, if they don't, I'll stick with the class. I'll just make sure that I'll make the class a living hell for that shit teacher.

Oh boy, I had a Spanish teacher like that.
She hardly taught the class and her typical assignments were something like watch Shrek in Spanish. The class got rowdy every fucking day, and one time, there was about three students who took the stapler off her desk and started stapling themselves, like giving themselves cheap piercings. Since she didn't start to do anything about it, I went up to her and asked her why the fuck she wasn't trying to stop them. She told me she hates students like those three and watching them hurt themselves was rewarding to her.
Fortunately she got fired the next year, and I hope she never secures another teaching job in her life. I think her class and teaching methods are the reason I nearly failed the class and felt unprepared for the next level of Spanish I had to take.

Update on this, my mom found out that there is an online version of this class I can take. So I might switching into that, depending on what my friends are doing.

There's nothing wrong with 4th ed really. The only problem that really exists with it is that combat can take forever since they tried to incorporate world of warcraft elements for combat, like, having tons of abilities and stuff. Though DnD Next which has recently come out pretty much fixed that.
You could always just use Roll20 for the interface and not worry about tokens and stuff. You can pretty much run DnD with straight up text which would let you have plenty of imagination. I've considered running a roll20 campaign, actually
