Tumblr's community likes to overreact to a lot of things honestly, it's not racist at all
as mentioned above people in japan apparently do the same thing with english
and plus it's just the language, it's nothing derogatory to anyone and it's not playing off of a stereotype of any kind.
I guess it's the whole "cultural appropriation" or turning them into a fashion but idk I dont see an issue with it like it is just wearing letters on your clothes. I understand and agree with getting angry at people wearing stuff from other cultures as like a costume. Having kanji characters on ur shirt isn't racist imo
Tattoos tho I kinda get cos like I see how you could be annoyed that they are getting it in that language probably purely cos it's "exotic" or whatever which is weird and like idealistic of their whole culture but clothes... Well kanji looks cooler than English and u wanna always look cool!!

Because it's "Cultural Appropriation" which fair enough, in some cases can be really damaging I.E The Nazi's adopting the swastika. But in some cases on Tumblr specifically it's petty, stuck-up bullshit. I've seen one post where a user said that she wanted to try beef tongue and she got an anon ask telling her to not try it because that would be appropriation. Not mentioning the fact that beef tongue is used in many national cuisines where is the appropriation?
