It'll boost your FPS a ton. There's always console emulation, too. pretty much anything can run an NES or SNES emulator, and you might be able to do N64 or Playstation 1 as well. PS1 takes a bit of setup, though, so if you just want to download an emulator and roms and get to playing you would want NES/SNES/N64.
