Wow, Dragon's Dogma is a whole other experience solo than it is with pawns. Combat doesn't have the same few lines spoken about each enemy, you have to carry a lot more curatives, the big beasties are out for your blood only, and the intensity of the darkness isn't mitigated by having a healer and 2 meatshields chattering away. But the team work was great when it worked (which was most of the time) and I'm partly missing hectic battles with pawns doing their thing while I climb all about the bosses or dashing and slashing the little flunkies. Still, it's enjoyable in it's own right and easier to make your own story as the pawns are so linked to the plot so I'll continue with the solo stuff.
Oh, also made my main pawn look just like my character before stipping her of her gear and throwing her to the Brine so I can play solo. It was oddly creepy to "kill" a facimile of yourself unprovoked. (Ending spoilers)[sp]Steal my face? Fine, I'll erase your old one and destroy what little identity you had before. You become me? I'll make sure the old you never existed. Man, that ending sucked.[/sp]

I spent most of that game trying to subtly get the ball to my friends on the other team so we could have showdowns when shooting. None of us were particularly good at it.
