I take foot-baths every three to four days to avoid ingrown toe-nails and to shave off dead skin. Helps to also keep my feet extra clean.
The thing I do presently for my shoes is a combination of things... Namely to deal with keeping the "leather" looking shiny, I mix up a small natural-shoe polish that I picked up from my dad.
x2 Tea-Spoons of Lemon Juice
x1 Tea-Spoon of Table Salt
x1 Small Orange
1/2 Cup of Hot Water
NOTE: Before cleaning your shoes, regardless of the shoe type, always make sure to remove the shoe laces.
Take the lemon juice and table salt, and put it into a bowl. Then pour a 1/2 cup of hot water, and stir it around till it appears to have a slightly yellow-whiteish tint to the water.
Take the small orange, and peel it apart, and pull one of the slices out, and put very tiny bit of orange juice into the water. Now eat the rest of the orange! [B]Keep the peel.[/B] Take the orange peel, and make a circle or rectangle out of it, and dip it into the hot water. Let it sit for about two minutes, and then take the peel out, and rub it across the exterior leather of your shoes. You should rub in each coat till the point it's semi-dry, and then repeat another coat. After about three to five coats on each shoe, you should take your shoes outside, and let them air out a bit. This will allow the strong odor from the lemon and orange to lessen, and become a more pleasant citrus smell. On top of this, you get a shiny gleam on your shoes that'll last for about two to three weeks.
Don't do this every week, because it'll damage your shoes.
