I bet the convo about me went a little like this "shogunner is gay" "hes a paedo" "what a fag" "whens the pub opening"
it was pretty much me telling them about that time you tried to lecture me on how to live my life and everyone laughed, that was it.
all the ducks are swimming in the waaaaaater! lalalalala! and let's not forget dave's alarm WAKE UP GUUUYS!
And again.. and again... and again.... and Dave didn't even fecking wake up.
it was pretty much me telling them about that time you tried to lecture me on how to live my life and everyone laughed, that was it.
oh yea that time did you leave out all the e drama with nerdygamer because that shits good
Dire Straits was also a largely requested band with Money for Nothing, Sultans of Swing and Walk of Life, good times.
Dire Straits was also a largely requested band with Money for Nothing, Sultans of Swing and Walk of Life, good times.
I'm glad most of the time music was on it was either Dave in control with Classic FM, or I was drunk and thus deaf. Because I'm a fun sponge when it comes to music.
I thought you'd be a fan of Dire Straits Mark, quite surprised and disapppointed :saddowns:
I thought you'd be a fan of Dire Straits Mark, quite surprised and disapppointed :saddowns:
Killed to death by my father when I was a child. The damage is irreparable.
I wish I could have gone, but I'm too busy with cadets at the moment. And on the subject of music, maybe you could go to Guilfest next year, it's around a similar time to your camp (16th-18th of July this year), there's great music (even a rock sound cave for metallics), the camp is a lot more comfortable than other festivals like V-Fest and Glastonbury, and its not too extortionate (~£100 for the whole weekend camping for over 16's). I'll almost definitely be going next year and it sounds like you guys would like it.
Too far south. Needs to be accessible by Northerners as well...
Just as the lakes is so easily accessible for southerners?
It is if you book in advance, I got £30 return from London Euston with a 16-25 Railcard.
It is if you book in advance, I got £30 return from London Euston with a 16-25 Railcard.
Cheap =/= Easy
It was easy though.
Cheap =/= Easy
There's nothing easier than sitting on a train doing nothing
Just as the lakes is so easily accessible for southerners?
Half the people who were at the camping trip were "southerners".
there was an almighty cock up with my booked tickets. i would have (if i didn't risk it) been in preston until 5 in the morning.

Put it this way, it cost everyone about £30-40 (return)to get to the lakes by train. It would cost about £60 (rtn)to get to Guildford from where I am in Yorkshire, and even more for those who live in Newcastle, Scotland etc.
Half the people who were at the camping trip were "southerners".
I was trying to say that it is no harder for the northerners to travel to a large town near London than it is for the southerners to travel to a relatively small town in the north. It would also be easier to do on a train and in a car because you don't need as much stuff. But if you aren't interested, forget it, it was only a suggestion.

One of the problems is finding a camp site that will take a large group of teenagers and young adults, the one we found was the only one we could find I believe. I actually prefer doing it up north; the view around lake district is absolutely astonishing compared to south England.

Also, the lake district is amazing but there are equall as amazing scenes in the south. Seaford, near eastbourne: Dartmoor: Exmoor: New forest: Brixton: The lake district also happens to be a very remote area. In places like the seven sisters (eastbourne) it's an hour from London on the train and there's a decent bus network run by brighton & hove. The Lake District is expensive to travel in if you don't have a car.
And the reason we contacted them was because they didn't specify any group restrictions, while the other camp sites strictly stated families only.

If the date is set like two months before the next time I migt be able to afford a flight ticket by that time.
I've been to New Forest and while it is nice, you'll find it's mostly very flat compared to other places. Bottom line is we're gonna keep the same place and date since we're all familiar with getting there and because it's a nice area. I know a lot of people won't be able to come if the place/date changes.

It's going to be prohibitively expensive for people travelling from up North 2. There aren't any nearby trainstations 3. There aren't many campsites, so we'd be in the middle nowhere so we'd have to think carefull about water/showering etc. 4. The campsite owner said he would have us back next year and that campsite was excellent as they go, especially value for money wise. Camping was £24 for the 5 days we were there, some of us like Dave were doing it on a shoestring.

Plymouth, Newton abbot, paignton, Ivybridge and okehampton (closest) are all within reasonable distance of Dartmoor and also have train stations. There may not be many campsites, but we only need one of them. The campsite was great, yeah, but why do the same thing year after year? Alternate between two places, makes it more interesting and more viable for those wanting to go who live in the South-west (there were at least 3 who PMed me about train tickets to windermere, none of them ended up going because it took too long, or cost too much for them.)
It costs the same to go from North to south as it does from south to north.
Agreed, but from say Preston to Plymouth, it much further than london to windermere.
Plymouth, Newton abbot, paignton, Ivybridge and okehampton (closest) are all within reasonable distance of Dartmoor and also have train stations.
*Reasonable* if you're thinking of the southern edge perhpas, but any distance into Dartmoor and you're talking an hour at least by car (Done a lot of family holidays down there staying in Exeter/Kingsbridge/Portsmouth/Plymouth)
There may not be many campsites, but we only need one of them.
Cannot argue with that, but many campsites do not like large groups of teenagers for obvious reasons, The high peak club at uni (despite being an official university club) seriously struggles to find campsites. THere is 1 in Borrowdale in the lakes we go to, and the rest of the time we use bunkhouses, because for some reason they don't care.
