Did some work on the Volvo 360. Welded the adjustable gliders on the sport chairs and mounted the huge ass wing i ordered a while back. Going to weld the exhaust and 4-point harness sometime this week then I'll get the car out of the garage and snap some photos. It's completely stripped from excess weight now too.
I really want to do an engine swap on this car but it's hard to find a decent engine in the right condition with data boxes and cables etc.
It is not EFI? I mean if it is EFI you can usually convert it over to turbo rather easy.
Yesterday's day was a busy one.. I felt like the big mack daddy installer after that
Remote start F250
Remote start Subaru Outback
Check deck connections Elantra, found a broken wire at thecrimp cap causing a speaker to not work.
Mount a mirror to the windshield on another Elantra
Deck, 4 speakers, and amp in a Dakota.
All from 2 - 9 :o
And working in the grossest slushiest floor ever since it was snowing like a beast outside. Quite the day!
So I had a scary experience tonight, on the way home from wally world (wal-mart for those wondering, i think it's a southern thing) it started to rain like niagara was dumped over our heads. So because it was cold all my windows fogged up, then I realized my passenger headlight was out.
I was blind on the road with a speed limit of 55. FAAACK
I about shit muh self at one point because even though I coulden't tell exactly what it was and I'm sure it was an escalade, was right up on my car blinding me to boot. (I'm blinded anytime a taller-then-me vehicle gets behind my car)
Made it home after stopping at a Dunkin' Doughnuggets and clearing off my windows, then had to drive with them down to avoid fogging again.
Cold, wet, nearly run over by a rattleack and half blind. I hate florida...
So I found out the clamp holding my distributor was broken today meaning the timing of my engine was changing as I drove because it rattles so damn hard. I noticed this when my engine started to make a "Metal on Metal" clunking noise when idling.
Manually holding the distributor in a correct timing position eliminates this noise, so looks like I've got some mechanical work to do too :/

Carb :( I have a Solex 32 carb laying around but the most they can handle is around 0.3 bar before they start shooting fuel out of the wrong places.
Edit:
Exhaust welded in place, did 20 laps around the house to test it and it works like a charm.

Window tint + paintjob is on its way just need a little warmer weather before I can start working on the exterior.
Edit:
Also it shoots fire when you rev it hard, gonna film it later :v:
So what spurred the whale tail idea??

We're doing everything you shouldn't in terms of styling with this car. It's not meant to be pretty or street legal. Just fast as shit and ugly.

Can't you weld together a pressure box for the carb to sit in? A bit tricky but you'll be able to push more boost through it.

That's a pretty solid idea. Right now I don't have the necessary parts for turboing it but once I get everything I'll start experimenting.
Another pic

Edit:
First test run in the snow

10 year old summer tires doesn't really work that well in the snow :(
I uhhhh had to "clean up" around the shop.
Pulled this off one of the goose neck trailers were fixing.
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1031910/IMAG0408.jpg[/t]
Chevy Suburban 2500....or whats left. Hit the SIDE of a gooseneck trailer completely knocking the hangers of the axles off and bent the axle along with blew out all the tires except for one (Huge ass rips in the sidewall). Annnd around 8 inches of deflection of the 10" I beam running the length of the trailer.
(The trailer in the photo is not the trailer I'm talking about, that's our scrap metal trailer.)

So basically a rat rod with only part rat huh?
If you like working on stuff, get a snowmobile.
I don't really like working on stuff and I have one. After getting it running after sitting for an entire summer I got a whole 500 meters before the steering rack (is it the right word? the bar that connects the handlebars to the steering arms) broke. Since removing it is one of the most difficult things to do I welded it as well as I could (again, it had broken before). Also fixed a better heat shield and clamping for the battery. I managed to melt one last winter :v:.
The rear suspension was stuck, nothing weird, happens every now and then. Usually caused by ice, which is what I thought had happened this time as well. Started the damn thing up and drove out of the garage, only for the steering rack to break in another place, and for the whole fucking rear suspension to collapse and put a crack in one of the rails in the bottom of the bogie.
This is the most unreliable thing I've ever had, and I've only driven it for 1 winter.
Painted my interior on the doors today to get rid of the forest green. I used flat black rustoleum with a gloss poly finish. Came out nice and stock-looking.

Looks really nice! What's the actual material of the painted surface? Guessing it's some sort of metal but I can't quite see.
I think it's Vinyl
Looks really nice! What's the actual material of the painted surface? Guessing it's some sort of metal but I can't quite see.
The white is vinyl wrapped door cards, but above and below is straight metal. So when the car was special ordered, the buyer asked to have the "deluxe green interior" and under special instructions, asked to have the interior painted "forest green" so it would match the interior, otherwise dodge made the interior all the same color as the outside, and the car probably would have had a brown, black, or white interior stock.
This is how it all started...

I'd say I've come pretty far with the interior
Ugh, what were people thinking in the 70's?
Ugh, what were people thinking in the 70's?
60's. This car was special ordered in 1967 For $2,899.
And I believe they were thinking:

I quite like that interior :v:
The green interior looks fine on a black, white, or green car, but nothing else, especially an orange car...

How many cars do you have?
From that last video and this one, like 8?
Rust repair!

Oh so you've decided to jump the gun, did you use any rust converter as I've suggested you before that primer? If not, did you use a primer with anti-corrosive property?
After paint, then, don't forget about using at least 2 coats of clear coat.
No rush converter but the primer does have anti corrosive property though. The guy at Advance was worthless because I specifically asked him what exactly I needed and he said "sand and paint it" so I did need to go back and get primer. I'll run over in a bit and grab some clear coat too. Thanks <3
Why are you getting your advice from auto part store employees. You should have asked here first. Or anyplace else.
Instead of just rating me dumb, explain why you asked a minimum wage employee with more than likely no experience how to get rid of rust.
vln stop being a cock :v:
Just VLN being himself. He could have told him to sell his Firebird and buy a toyota instead, but he didn't :v:
