?? Leaving now?? I knew it. Middle of nowhere deliverance shizzit.
I just wanted to show Serj22 what a hostage negotiation looks like.
I just wanted to show Serj22 what a hostage negotiation looks like.
I didn't get your message till like after I left the area and was about 15 minutes from home. Sorry bro.
The fuck is a dart GTX? C'mon man, get your terms right! There is the base model, GT, and GTS. Later years had the swinger.
It wasn't from a GT, or anything like that for that matter, just a run of the mill 69 4 door with a 273. It was the 270 trim. Someone already recovered the seat at some point so I don't have to upholster it just yet. Also, I did mean GTS. But the bench seat was nice and in nice shape. I sprayed it with some upholstery cleaner to get rid of whatever dirt was on it. Naturally it fit perfectly, since it came out of a 69. I'll re -dye the top black a little, just till I have a few days to make some recovers for it. Fack no. Put those pieces of crap right in the dumpster. While I was out there, the dude was scrapping a bunch of darts and valiants for parts, and there wasn't anything of much interest I could've used, but I did find these police/poverty caps with spinners on them. I thought "that's some mad max shit right there." and the dude gave them to me for $5.00. Hell yeah.

Never made a gt or gts 4 door, and the 273 was a 1 year engine for 1967 only so the 69 could not have had that.

obligatory shoe test at 4am does it count as today if we finished up at like 5 in the morning?
I'd fail at the shoe test... I wear combat boots... If you slept invbetween now and then it was yesterday.
For you body workers quick question, So someone keyed my front bumper on my challenger. From a little right of the right stripe decal all the way to the end of the bumper stopping just before the passenger fender. Scratching both lower decals ruining them. Geico says that no matter what because the bumper is plastic that the paint will never match or look the same even if you blend the metal hood and metal fenders. My Bodyshop and another disagree saying it's completely possible and needed to blend it. Is this true?
Bodyshops are the ones that do the work, Geico adjusters just 'learn' about it and quote the lowest that will be 'adequate' so the company pays out the lowest amount. The bodyshop folks are the ones who know what the hell they're talking about in the end. I'd say given the proper prep and so forth you can get a goddamn good match with a blend.... they get that front the factory with a fresh paintjob at any rate, right? Given Geico's logic the factory plastic panels wouldn't match the factory metal panels.
Given Geico's logic the factory plastic panels wouldn't match the factory metal panels.
The adjustor even said that. And he owned a Challenger R/T Redline. So I don't know the amount of bullshit he was spewing as it's not my subject. I'm a politician and I think he raised the bar for shit out of a human mouth.

I'm a politician and I think he raised the bar for shit out of a human mouth.
It really depends on the type of paint. If its a gloss, its easy to blend. Metallic paint takes a true body shop to blend. It takes a lot of steps to do and involves a lot of feathering. It doesn't matter weather its plastic or metal. The plastic is prepped so the paint would stick to begin with. Its the same paint on the top coat all over the body. I find doing entire panels with a metallic is harder to match than just feathering it with the factory metallic. I'd say your insurance adjuster has no idea what the hell.

Got the Beetle running today, and drove it into the workshop :v: Took off the front wheels, and loosened all the nuts and bolts so it'll be quicker to install everything when it comes to that
Spent the whole day diagnosing a friend-of-a-friend's van that doesn't crank. Pretty quickly found the ign sw fuse blown, and blows when you turn to ign (not start). Found a diagram, it's supposed to only feeds the ign switch, which when turned to ign feeds a signal to the front control module and the fuel pump relay coil. Stopped blowing when you unplugged the wire that goes hot coming FROM the ign switch that goes back into the fuse block.. so no shorts up to there. Disconnect the front control module and fuel pump relay and it still blows. OK, short inside the fuse box, right?? WRONG. It helps when you have the WHOLE DIAGRAM. Grrrr. There's also two pink/gry wires that comes from the fuse block that ALSO are turned to ignition and powered by the fuse that're blowing. They feed the EGR and PCM. They weren't on the original diagram I was reading and in the end I wasted a ton of time getting a new fusebox and popping it in and surprise the fuse still blows. Unplug the EGR and PCM and leave everything else plugged in and the fuse is OK. Plug in EGR.. still OK. Plug in PCM, and it blows. Such a waste of time, but goodness at least I got it. Was so pissed that the original diagram was missing important info though.. but I guess that's what happens when you're using free wiring diagrams from libraries.
Your next step would be to check the PCM, can you pop it open and check the traces that lead from the culprit wire? And fuck wiring faults in cars/trucks, that shit is like finding a needle in a haystack the size of Kansas.
Indeed it is the next step. More specifically the next step was to identify positively switched circuits that are handled by the PCM. The good thing is that the PCM does the majority of it's work by controlling the negative side of many circuits... coils, injectors, O2 heaters, etc. Obviously a short on the negative side of a circuit would only cause a components to stay on all the time, not a blown fuse, so going from there the only identifiable ones that were switched by the PCM on the positive side were the Idle air control motor and the AC compressor clutch. Upon unplugging both of those, and metering for a short to ground on the wires it was found none of them were shorted in the wire themselves, and plugging in the PCM with those suspect components disconnected from the circuit still caused the problem to happen. Time for new computer.

Unless the IC that controls that stuff is an 8 or 10 pin dip IC your prolly out of the range of a cheappy fix, unless again you can find one on digikey with the chip's numbers. Given you could find the culprit chip. You might get lucky and find it's a TO-220 type Power MOSFET.
I'm thinking more along the lines of buying a PCM for $250-$300 or so, not my money :)
Based spring weather.. Installed the new mirror retainer for my jeep (I have 3 mirrors instead of 2 now) Installed the drivers side vent window, apparently at some point after 87 they used a torx screw instead of a bolt with a welded nut but it still threaded together tight enough. Installed the bumper caps and the license plate bracket +license plate on the front. [editline]11th March 2014[/editline] so the exhaust shop welded the exhaust to the spot that you normally put a donut gasket and bolt 2 pipes together. So it looks like im going to have to cut the newish exhaust ;_; to get the trans down.
I helped Jap open a package last night It was a very small engine swap for a very small car Still need to purchase transmission, carb, shift linkage... I don't remember what else. Stuff to rebuild this engine is in the mail though.
Ohhh come on I thought it was gonna get a 1jz. I promised to even come up their to ride in it when y'all finished it.
that was the supra wasn't it?
Metal shed to the left contains 2JZ goodness, yes.
