What's wrong with that engine? It's got pulleys all over the side of it.
I didn't get very far with this painting I was supposed to do today because we didn't have the wire brush attachment for the angle grinder here...

Tomorrow though.... I hope
Gutted my "cupholders" as some joker at audi decided to call them, to make room for an aux input/cubby hole. I left the outside part of each cupholder, gutted the rest, and epoxied a piece of poly-carbonate for a base. If I can find a matching lid piece, I want the lid to be just one piece, that folds up towards the passenger instead of the two doors it has now.

Next is to see if I can find a switch to put into one of the three blank ones on the right. hopefully I can find a spare fog light/rear defrost button that will fit in. The switch will be for the power to the radio, since its always powered on.

Blown ct12a, why not turn it into a generic turbo lamp.

It's on its side with a box on top of it. All engines look weird like that.

oh man that funk button for the b5 is awesome. I'd probably have to put another push switch behind it, people said that its not a toggle switch. Still though, definitely going to get one of these
[editline]now, why are you reading this[/editline]
or buy a relay that can toggle it for me

Should be a toggle switch, since it's for switching between radios?
Should be a toggle switch, since it's for switching between radios?
It actually is a toggle switch. I was looking at a thread on a different forums that said it wasn't toggle, but later on down the thread they said it was.
Its almost classic car weather in Alberta!! Im getting so giddy just thinking about firing up the Coronet. All aluminum 547, 2 7/8 primary tubes into a 5 inch header collector, reduced to 3.5 inches into dual flowmasters, the sound is pure sex, makes the hair stand up on my back just thinking about it.
I did this today and not that much else other than trying to fit the new steering wheel which has the holes drilled backwards/mirrored/whatever of what they should be :v:

Color and clearcoats tomorrow

you're painting em red and putting the baby moons back on right? I love the look of red steelies with moons - but you need whitewalls for sure.

I put on my Mad Max hubcaps. No idea what they're really called. Spinner caps maybe?
These will do until I can find some new wheels for the front. I think I want to go with some BFGoodrich tires with white out like the rears, but cheater wheels. I'm talking like 4" wheels with Some 4" wide tires.
I always called those dog dish hub caps.
you're painting em red and putting the baby moons back on right? I love the look of red steelies with moons - but you need whitewalls for sure.
Of course, they will pretty much look the same as they used to only with a slightly darker shade of red that matches the color better.
I'm repainting them because my dad painted them while I was gone when I first got them and he didn't do any prep work so paint was falling off them.
And yeah I'd love whitewalls but I can't afford that for a while
I always called those dog dish hub caps.
Naa, dog dish hubcaps don't have the three spike "dayton" center part. Old Chevy van hubcaps are more like the dogdish hubcaps. I tried to find what the name of those are, but I can't. So I'm just gonna call em' "Impalas" because 50's and 60's Impalas had wheel covers and hubcaps similar.
So I did this today, by my damn self. Twas cake and coffee.
[thumb]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y150/Takie_Kaio/CAM004021_zps3449812d.jpg[/thumb]
I also added some new lights to muh car, and an RPM gauge all old school like just for the hell of it. Did that stuff a few weeks ago, but I've been too busy to post it up.
Pictures tomorrow morn cuz I'm kinda drunk and it's dark. :/
Tried starting the J20 yesterday. Last time my friend and I tried to start it it wouldn't crank, so this time we tried a few different things to get it to crank and it turned out you have to push the gear lever forwards. Guessing there's a bad connection or something. Anyway, it cranked but not fast enough. Tried again today with a booster and it started very easily. Damn this thing wants a lot of juice.
After getting it started and promptly shutting it off to cheer like two schoolgirls we started it again and checked the oil pressure, a bit low so we added some more oil and then it was fine.
Getting it out of the holes it was sitting in was a bit tricky, had to dig out some dirt behind the rear wheels and go back, roll forwards, go back, roll forwards and so on to get enough momentum to get out. This would probably be easier if the 4WD worked, but no. The lever for it wasn't even connected to anything. After doing that for 10 minutes we broke free, only to notice that the oil for the power steering had leaked out. Took both arms to even turn it when moving slowly.
Drove it out of the back yard where it was and lifted off all the wood that was on the bed, went for a coffee and to wait for dark to come so we could drive it home without having to worry about the police (no insurance or anything on it). We were worried about the brakes not working, they barely worked. The rear ones didn't work at all, the fluid had leaked out because of rusty lines. The front ones however worked. After stopping a few times the rust on the discs started going away. I was even able to lock up the front wheels!
With that fixed we set off for home. Apart from the belt squeaking like a pig and having no instrument lights (my fault, I couldn't figure out how to turn them on) all was well. Well, it was very hard to steer and it moved around on its own, but I blame the worn out half flat tires for that. Oh, and the passenger window is stuck in the door fully down and has been replaced by a plastic bag. That created a horrible flapping noise when driving over 40km/h.
Tomorrow we'll inspect it and start fixing stuff.

Mounting tires, and hopefully driving the Beetle from tomorrow :>

Nah, thick plates of welded steel. Kinda wish this was the bar I bought for my car
Ah yeah that looks much better, This is mine

That's really awesome! The original Japanese manufacturers stopped producing triangular bars now for our Nissans. DC makes a rigid one but not like in the late 80's and early 90's when the market was strong.
Think of it as a temp upgrade waiting for a rollcage :P
Pulley had been noisy for a few weeks, today it smelled burnt, then suddenly one belt began being pretty noisy, chirping and screaming, smell of burnt rubber.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/03yY1YE.jpg?1[/t]
It self destroyed itself and destroyed the belt. Oh well, 60$(New pulley/bearing + acc. belt.) later and half an hour at -25c on the side of the road and it was fixed.
I always called those dog dish hub caps.
They're not the dog dishes. They are kind of similar to the poverty caps that came stock, but look exactly like a mopar police wheel cap, with 3 spikes. They were mounted on a 69 4 door dart.
Spent today making a solution to my crapped out ignition switch, Made 2 switches for the electrical system and a rubber button to start it. Now just need to make a panel to fit it in. Does anyone know what the name is of the place that's inside of that hole if you don't have a radio? (The radio used to be where the switches are)

Thanks to BMW's fantastic anti theft systems it only took me 5 hours longer then I expected.
