Yeah I've tried all those terms but I can't find anything....
Empty din plate doesn't get anything either.
Din blank?
Radio blank?
"chunk of black plastic"?
After googling it seems that BMW hasn't made any for the e36...

It's called a "radio delete" plate/kit, or a "race panel". But the radio delete will get you what you want. Or just get a piece of ABS plastic that size, and cut it to fit.

Clutch got loose and doesn't work hoping bleeding it and replacing fluid will fix it. If not gotta get a new clutch, hopefully it isn't the case.
Working on the 7's exhaust again... again. Can't tell you how happy I am with my new best friend™ who lets me use his workshop and who helps me out with all this stuff. I love it all, but I'm hopeless with cutting and welding (I prefer working with wood), so he's showing me how it's all done so I can try and learn. Anyway, stock muffler internals;

And the 'Dinan' modification as was offered back in the 90's;

Should give me the sound I want without turning the cabin into a resonating, droning earbleed-fest. The mufflers absolutely massive, and have double walled skins and double walled mandrel bend piping feeding them, so they should offer the best possible protection from drone while giving that sweet V8 note. My current mufflers are just too small, too thin, and too highly flowing, making them impossible to live with.
And here I am with a 5.7L v8 with a large glasspack. Mine surprisingly doesn't drone at all though.
German motors man. The early M60's are some of the hardest things to get sounding nice without deafening you. Hell, I've still got both cats and the resonator intact, and even with aftermarket triple chambered mufflers, it is completely undriveable because of the noise... It amazes even me. This is how it sounds with my current mufflers;

Nice on the outside, brain shattering inside the car.
I've got that issue with my Greddy muffler, sounds nothing but awesome but I'll be damned if get on it without the windows down and my brain tries to go supernova from the drone.
I assure you, it'll be worse once I delete my mid muffler/resonator. I'm aiming for as close to the NSX sound as I can get with out getting the exhaust system from one.
Something along these lines:

Im thinking of replacing my shitty "suitcase" muffler on my 300C with two of the longest glasspacks/resonators I can find. Would the drone be bad? Im gonna keep the back resonators on.

what engine you got?
If the V6, go for it, if the 5.7 or 6.1 I'm telling you i love em stock, to you inside they don't sound mean but when you drive past people it catches.
5.7L. It sounds great stock, when I rip on it its amazing, but at times I wonder if its even on, I want a little more growl.

I understand then, The American Thunderback are really good. I'd say Super 44 but having any type of convo in your car would be impossible. Just becareful of what you choose. My friends legacy gt is apparently impossible to talk inside of even when idling cause of drone but god damn that thing sounds amazing.
My 6.1 sounds great when putting it down and at lights yeah i sometimes wonder if my car is even running but i kinda like that fact cause it allows convo and still gives off amazing sounds when needed.
I have like a 32" glass pack on my Chevy and there's no drone at all, it sounds great, but it's a bit on the quiet side
I have a fuck you pipe on my Jeep, it has no cat or muffler and is loud as fuck at every engine speed.
I don't think It drones but i don't have any interior panels for it to rattle or have no idea what exhaust drone even means.
I have a fart can ebay special 3" exhaust.
My ears are bleeding

never realized why my step father always said "don't buy someone else's project" until now. just bought a trade-in from a dealership. 1999 olds alero. some 80-something guy traded it in for a new car and i bought it from the dealership. windows didnt work in it so i figured it was something as simple as broken switches or burnt out motors, or even bad circuit breaker. well i replaced the circuit breaker before doing anything but that didnt fix it. so i started testing everything to make sure it all was getting electric. pulled the door panel off to test the switch, and there's a piece of a 2x4 sitting on the inside of the door jammed underneath the window holding the glass up. the plastic retainer clips then attach to the metal bracket and slide up and down the track, they were broken. this guy just jammed the windows up rather than getting it fixed. what a pain in the ass.
test shit before you buy?
test shit before you buy?
i did. I knew the windows didn't work but they weren't going to let me pull the door panels off there lol. it's literally the only thing that's wrong with the vehicle. was only 1200 out the door. and only had 96,000 miles on it. to me it's not a huge deal. not a big expense and it was a cheap buy.
Well, I've been combatting this for a while and must now admit defeat and "fix" it.
MY car didn't use to roll on the freeway due to overheats, but with all the new hardware she's been up for the challenge, and drives in California traffic at about 75 like everyone else, and gets up to 80 or 90 to pass. My rear tires are only rated for 120mph, so I don't take it near there if I can help it, and I don't drive it like a race car. The car was designed to go about 60mph max when it was built, but now with all the additional power and cooling capabilities, it goes much faster. Wait that's awesome? you may say - Why is that a problem?
Because this:

This is how the hood sits after pulling into the driveway after a freeway haul. The wind picks the front end of the hood up so intensely it is scary. I have tried through-bolting the hood lock in the front to prevent the spring from returning while driving, and a lot of different other things. The real problem it seems, like everyone else who owns a car this old, is that they were not really equipped with a good hood latch, at all. Some people get by without, but it seems I'm not that lucky. The lift on the hood also causes air to flow around the radiator instead of through it, so when I did a tape test, where I literally taped the hood down, the car ran cooler as well, and the shaking of the entire car from the hood bouncing was reduced to minimal or nothing.
So I had to buy pins. I'm not happy about it, but at least they will be functional over fashionable. I never was into the look of nipple rings on stuff, but if I must, I will - and I am.
i did. well if you know something doesnt work expect the worst i'd say.

lolwat.
Totally false. People with bone stock darts besides drivetrain go 100+ all day long with no problems. Please learn to mopar dude.
The bearing in my alternator broke today, belt went "SCREEEEEEE" and flew away. Got to a garage, pulled the alternator and inspected it. Drove 30km without an alternator, threw in a new bearing and put it back.

I'm sure people go 100 all day with no issue in darts, but for reals - this thing is unfixable. I have tried different latches and no matter what the corners pop up, and the hood jumps up and down. I'll take a video if I have to but seriously, it won't lay down. I think if anything, the hood was compromised and flexes too much, but in the future, I'll just buy a new hood. Plus, holes are fixable with a little welding if I ever solve the problem, but for now, as my daily driver, with my 3 year old, and one year old in the car - I don't care, I'm bolting the fucker down. Also, since it's a 4 door, in moparland that means it's only good to be cut up and used to fix a two door, so I wouldn't say I'm devaluing it either. I know there's probably a circle of mopar buzzards somewhere wishing I would cut up my rust free 68 and sell the metal to them, but it's not going to happen anytime soon.
Maybe designed was a bad word choice, but maybe expected - or should go, is a better one. I don't think they expected slants to be rolling around faster than that really. I could be wrong - I mean they did race them at one point so they knew the potential was there, and the car did come with bigger motors, but the issue remains, and since it's the only older car I've owned that had an issue like this that couldn't be fixed with new hinges/ latches.
To put it in a better visual, the hood gradually turns into a big "U" shape while driving. The front center stays locked down and the sides fly up - so hood compormise is probably the issue - it may not be fully attached to the underframe anymore - but I can't tell because someone before me shot bedliner all over it or some junk. It doesn't look like the normal mopar rust coating. It's thinner.
55 stay alive yo.
