Got my exhaust manifold in today, don't know why I was so lazy about it before using the old unmatched exhaust manifold. This one I decked to the same plane as the new intake manifold so it actually fits together and makes perfect contact with the head. No more exhaust leak. The entire block was purple - that was a big leak. And then I put in the matched newer exhaust. I did a baked vht coating on it in flat white. I think it looks cool. Only one little spot didn't cure correctly and you can see it, it's kind of brown, and that's where the paint dissolved in the heat of the car running. Next I want to scrape the rest of the 30 years of oil and dirt off the K-frame that was left from the old leaks and paint the K-frame. I'm thinking neon green or something. I don't know yet. Maybe just a standard silver or something.

Todays yay fun* was a power steering pump on an 04 Pacifica, and after about 5 hours of cursing cut and jammed hands/knuckles/fingers I got the replacement in. The old pulley exploded into a billion bits, I only found a few pieces it still hiding on the frame in some dips. See, the ps pump pulley is plastic-ish and just couldn't handle it's job anymore and quit violently. [sp]*that fucking mini van may be fast and have all wheel drive, but it is one of the worst built vehicles I have ever had the nightmare fuel to work on, right next to an Eddie baur edition Exploder and ford tarus wagon[/sp]

[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2014-04-05%2000.12.00.jpg[/t] Civic has a head and a timing belt again. Picked up a used exhaust manifold, hopefully that mounts up. Replaced all the gaskets and hoses on the intake manifold, cleaned up the distributor, ran some new heater hoses, did the water pump, thermostat and buttoned up all the various other odds and ends. Hopefully I can start it either Sunday or Monday depending on how things go, but it'll probably be Wednesday.

Pulled it out of storage Tune wasn,t as bad as I remember, in fact I did quite a good job @ cold start. hot idle is still a challenge but I have a hidden trick up my sleeve, gotta wait for warmer weather before I work on the supra
Bro, hook me up with one O them Pioneeeers, my current radio is just a bit too big for an accord. Only reason I have it is because bluetooth and gps.
I ordered a bigger rear sway bar from an RSX Type S, and new bushings for it for only 40 dollars. Also, i've got a new clutch slave coming monday, to replace the one that snapped off the bracket (one of the two bolts had backed out yadayada, it broke off). I'm excited to get back to driving the civic again tuesday, which is my BIRTHDAY WOO.
A coolant gasket blew toward the back of my engine so I had to remove my throttle body, intake, and intake manifold to get to it. I drilled it and threaded it, put it all back together, and hooked up the hoses. Took about a week to take it all apart, buy the parts, and put it back together.
Would you be able to recommend me a nice touchscreen headunit for a chrysler 300c around $400-600? Using the factory sat-nav plate so there is a lot of room.
The AVH 3600 has been a go to for me http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NbDWUc7lhrl/p_130X360BHS/Pioneer-AVH-X3600BHS.html Or the larger screen versions http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130X850BHS/Pioneer-AVH-X8500BHS.html?tp=20217 http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130X4600BT/Pioneer-AVH-X4600BT.html?tp=20217 Kenwood's not bad either http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DDX771/Kenwood-DDX771.html?tp=20217 http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DDX471H/Kenwood-DDX471HD.html?tp=20217 http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DDX371/Kenwood-DDX371.html?tp=20217
The X8500 is around what I was looking for, im gonna look around for a while but its definately right around my price range.
Is it impossible to make a aftermarket head unit not flashy? Is it a requirement? What is wrong with making a head unit that looks like the stock one, only with more features?
That's what i'm saying. I want something with a little more power, maybe blue tooth, but i don't want to rice my interior with a head unit that is stupid bright.
You mean like dis?
ehhhhhhhh that's pretty flashy yo [editline]6th April 2014[/editline] it fits though, it's not horrible or anything. Really i just want better power from the stock unit with bluetooth capability. I'll have to see if i can find something cool.

And even if you have an auxillary for the bluetooth, then you are out an auxillary for non bluetooth devices. A lot of the andriod head units arent flashy, either. Jesus that's expensive. I bought a whole engine for $700, I could never spend $500 on a head unit. Not to say it isn't bad ass though, because it totally is.

Their basic units are still stuck in the designs of the early 2000's era of bright interiors. Mainly because most newer cars don't need old DIN stereos any longer. I've seen some pop up here and there though.
That's what i'm saying. They only got the same or a bit more than a good headunit.
That's what i'm saying. I want something with a little more power, maybe blue tooth, but i don't want to rice my interior with a head unit that is stupid bright.
Yep. I gave in and bought a Kenwood KDC X597. It's still kinda flashy but I disabled the scrolling text, set the dimmer to max, and set the button color to red to match all of my other interior lights. It still sticks out of the dash quite a bit and is annoyingly shiny but it's a clock I can read and it has bluetooth connectivity. I don't notice it most of the time. You get used to it pretty quick if you disable the annoying crap.
I wouldn't buy the android head unit until hearing a review of the audio quality. One of the biggest problems I have with android is it's audio codecs seem to be a bit below par
I don't think I'd ever buy a head unit like that. Physical buttons are essential.
The Parrot Asteroid Smart looks awesome, just what I was looking for for my car, now I just gotta get the cash together to buy it.
Is that the single din one? Because fuck yeah, the single din parrot is the winner so far. [editline]6th April 2014[/editline] I guess it's a way better one, but oh well. The single din is good for the price, except a lot of people are complaining about crashing and stuff.
Unless they've updated it, it's running an incredibly old version of android. I nearly bought one but went down the route of using my Android phone with Bluetooth. Which works great given I have unlimited data, internet radio is great. It's not so much that having the latest version is important. To me, the fact that it's running an Android version that's 2-3 Major revisions (At least one of their models is running android 1.5) behind says that either the hardware is underpowered or they just aren't committed to the software side of things. Though I'm sure the homebrew community could take up the slack in that respect, we shouldn't be expected to. As far as other options for "Non flashy head units" the JVC AVX units spring to mind: [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/286964/jvc_kd_avx40_head_unit1.jpg[/t]
