I finally found whats been making all the noise in my car. It's the trunk latch. The trunk vibrates around on the latch because the rubber stoppers aren't contacting the body. I tried greasing the mechanism but its still noisy as hell. What do?

I will not put duct tape on the exterior of my car. Is there any way to get longer bump stops for the trunk or any ideas on a diy solution?

Dismounted my friends all-terrains from his stock alloys and mounted/balanced them on a new set of soft 8s. also poked a hole in his rear floor not realizing just how bad the rust was. I'm going to wrap electrical tape around the latch loop, that and a pair of doorstops should do the trick.
I got some Monroe MA704's and a compressor in the mail today to offset the rear end sag when I put people and stuff in the backseat. I ran a lot of wiring, and tubing, and am curious if anyone knows a way to use 12v power to cause air to blow off remotely. I have a safety switch, that - when activated starts pumping air, with a gauge up on the dash rigged to the airline, split in the back, and will go down to the two shocks, once i install them. I then can turn off the pump remotely, but what I am looking for, is a way to release air via switch, so I can adjust the pressure without opening up the trunk and bleeding the valve. What do I need to accomplish this? Basically a blow-off valve, but nothing is yielding any results besides turbo parts when I search that. Edit: I actually found this, people use it for horns, I think this may be what I need, yeah? Just make sure it has a high max pressure rating or you may have issues getting it to close again after you've let off the switch to bleed some air. I actually installed one on an airhorn not to long ago, worked phenomenally.

I will probably only be using like 60psi max I would think. So I'll go ahead and get that. Should do it. Thanks.

Scored me a used intake manifold and carburetor at the annual swap meet today for a combined deal of $80. It's not a daily, blow-through carb setups work just fine and are much cheaper to setup and maintain. EFI would mean thousands of dollars in parts, if I were to go that route I would no longer have a small block in the car -- I'd have a Vortec/LS.
Tried to change the oil on the Firebird today since Firestone put synthetic in because they don't think. Scissor jack fully extended (to the furthest point the jack stand can support) so I can basically kneel under the front end and the front right is a good 5" off the ground. I whacked the ratchet on the damn oil drain bolt with a hammer for a good 15 minutes and the bastard won't budge. Guess I'll just leak all of my oil out then. Its been just over 1,000 miles and the dip-stick is showing half-empty so that's a real possibility. wait someone actually spent money on a scissor jack instead of buying a floor jack?
I honestly doubt that your oil plug is on that tight, but just take a wrench and put a pipe on it for more leverage. if it still wont come off you are tightening it or your arms are made of pudding.
He needs to whip out the oxy torch and heat the plug up obviously. Also maybe that scissor jack came with the car? Oh ok I just read the brand label. Still it could be a replacement.

No, not for a drain plug as you're going to strip it. If you need a bit of extra leverage use the closed end of a wrench on the open end of the one taking the plug off/out to "extend" the wrench, by this way you'll be using the closed end on the plug, don't ever use the open end on it, again, stripage will happen. Also try not to bang on the drain plug with a hammer, you can damage the pan and plug doing that.
wait someone actually spent money on a scissor jack instead of buying a floor jack?
Floor jack is too tall to get under it. Not my jack anyway
Floor jack is too tall to get under it. Not my jack anyway
Low pro jacks are the bomb!
There's about a foot and a half of room to work with before you factor in the tool and how and where your body/arms can move.
Wobbles and extensions bro. It's always possible.
I got my jacks and they look great. They're Monroe ma704's. I always thought monroe's were white, but somehow these are black and resemble Gabriels, oh well. They're legit. I'm trying to hide them as much as possible and make them non-existant. I've never run air line through a car before, but the process is not unlike running wire, just with way more expensive connectors. I got my compressor staged in the trunk ready to be mounted, and a safety switch up front on the kick panel hidden under the dash so it doesn't accidentally get bumped. I am going to run a switch to purge the system to, for my valve which should come in tomorrow. I'm thinking of running past the gauge up front, and into the air box to purge out the vent by the hood - should sound cool. I need to find time now to crawl under the car and lay the smack down on the old shocks that are on there - which no longer function. Can't wait...
There's about a foot and a half of room to work with before you factor in the tool and how and where your body/arms can move.
That's a perfect hight for an oil change. [t]http://i.imgur.com/pMmrXEc.jpg[/t] Two standard 1/2 inch wrenches in said lever fashion, not even a foot, you should be good.
There's about a foot and a half of room to work with before you factor in the tool and how and where your body/arms can move.
Just get the right sized wrench on there and get some leverage? Don't just half ass it dude. Also synthetic oil isn't too bad for the car. Just drive it until the next change and go back to conventional. :3 Still gotta drop it about two more inches so the wheels can be flush to the fenders. A three inch drop was pretty substantial already but needs moar low
