Replaced rear upper control arm and rear toe rods with adjustable chromoly ones with spherical bearings. [t]http://i.imgur.com/qocnxTT.jpg[/t] Camber and toe on the rear isn't fucked up anymore. Still have to mess with front camber because the techs at Firestone are literally clueless. Thankfully I have the spec sheet and I can move it by degree on the tophat camber plate. Guess I gotta invest into a dorifuto shop that specializes on low cars.
Afaik as of right now i have like 3 bolts left and then I can remove my old trans, took out the crossmember today and got a few more bolts out of the way, now just have to coordinate lifting/lowering the engine and trans to get my hands up there for the last few bolts.
I warned you about it bro, I went through the same learning experience haha.
Yeah, despite being ASE certs they scratch their head the minute something is aftermarket. But it gets the job done so I can't complain
Yeah, despite being ASE certs they scratch their head the minute something is aftermarket. But it gets the job done so I can't complain
Certs =/= experience. ASE certification is a crock of shit. That's like Geek Squad level of intelligence in comparison to the automotive industry. "Can you turn a wrench? Can you test multiple sockets on a bolt to verify the size? Great! You've passed!"
I would become a master tech in a second, but I don't want to work in a shop for 2 years. That is a stupid part of their certification.
I would become a master tech in a second, but I don't want to work in a shop for 2 years. That is a stupid part of their certification.
what else would you become a master tech for?
what else would you become a master tech for?
As a personal achievement. To be an Auto Shop teacher.
Without real world experience being a teacher is a horrible idea. You learn so much from tips n tricks to proper troubleshooting. The best teachers are ones that run into problems and develop strategies to solve them, and can then relay all of that knowledge to their underlings in a simple understandable manner.
I would become a master tech in a second, but I don't want to work in a shop for 2 years. That is a stupid part of their certification.
You can take the tests w/o experience you just wont get an official cert until you have the required shop/class hours.

Its so much shorter than I expected.
Its so much shorter than I expected.
Hah, that's what ur mom said last night, nerd.
+1 for self insults, now you're speaking my language.
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/download_20140425_112033.jpeg[/t] [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/download_20140425_112038.jpeg[/t] Cleaned up the corner light and bumper light lenses, pics are before I did any of this though. Replaced all the front end bulbs but the head lights. Turns out there are 4 corner light bulbs not just two like I thought. Of course all the bulbs in the corner markers were completely glassed over and 25 years old. Spent like 15-20 minutes trying to get a new bulb to work which acted like the socket had a loose contact to the bulb. Turns out my brand new bulb was busted despite the filament being perfect and I just used a spare bulb I had in a tray. It was just good enough to make contact a few times at first leading me on.. Ripped out the stock deck in prep for my new(old) deck and speakers that came today. I think UPS or Fedex just got here actually. :v:
How many miles are on that thing again? It looks new
How many miles are on that thing again? It looks new
Around 150,000 I think he said
How many miles are on that thing again? It looks new
Rolled it over 160k the first time I got to actually take it for a real drive, I've put like another 500 on it and it only smokes a tolerable amount when I beat the hell out of it at the top of 3rd. It's far from new lol, the paint is pretty abused and it sat outside for quite a few years. So I installed the speakers and swapped the decks between the cars, it was a near all day ordeal for simple tasks. I hooked up my new deck, everything worked great. Decided to take it back out and hook up the mic and route that behind the cluster and up through the defrost vent. Put it all back in the Integra and my subs wouldn't get audio anymore. Tested everything and it just seems like the deck is no longer providing audio to the Sub outputs. They decided to ship me the "new model" on top of the already crazy price supposedly. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2014-04-25%2016.53.12.jpg[/t] New speakers just fit in the housings by about 1-2mm.. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2014-04-25%2017.25.56.jpg[/t] Made a new harness for the Civic instead of making a nice new one for the Integra which is a absolute mess. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2014-04-25%2022.54.11.jpg[/t] Here's what I took out :v:
Today is car cleanup day. Show is tomorrow. Lotsa washing, wax the sides (already did the top) and vacuuming. Ugh....
learnt the fun way to check if your wheel nuts are tightened right, just take it to 140km/h and then listen for the *klirr klirr* sound as the wheel nuts fall out and hit the road. I managed to brake with the wheel on, but I didn't have my phone and I was only 1km away from home so I tried to sneak at 10km/h, didn't work, lost a wheel, sat in the middle of the road with 3 wheels lol. smacked a panel with the wheel and busted the oilpan. GG E30, you did well.
Why the fuck would you try to keep going, even more so when you aren't stranded? [editline]26th April 2014[/editline] also the oilpan didnt BUST, it was a small crack that we can probably fix, and if not I have another oilpan. and I drove it home afterwards.
I know the feel, bro. I had a flat on my bike, and kept on riding, real slow. Turns out, when you're all out of air in your wheels, if you try to accelerate hard, the rim will spin around in the tyre. Makes for a very scary moment when you're trying to get infront of a semi trailer.

Better safe than sorry. :/

I think he lost his bolts on the highway, kinda difficult to fasten them again. Though he should have tightened the ones that were left.
You don't have a jack, spare wheel and wheel nut wrench or whatever in your car? :v:
well I thought I did, but turns out some fucker put unoriginal 17mm lugs on it and there's only a 19mm in the trunk, so no, I don't. [editline]26th April 2014[/editline] I did have all the bolts still, I just couldn't tighten them or call home for a wrench so thinking too quickly I said fuck it I can sneak it. [editline]26th April 2014[/editline] also take into account im a dumb 19 year old who's barely had his license for half a year and only just started driving my own car really. [editline]26th April 2014[/editline] also you don't really need to tell me I'm dumb for not just leaving it, I realise that now so you can fuck off if you feel like telling me I'm stupid.

well, you can learn the hard way (What happed ro you w/the wheel) or you can ask some people the dos and donts of driving. Certain things arn't taught in drivers ed, you just gotta ask. Dont worey about looking foolish, anyone around that would call you an idiot for asking something that makes sence to ask will feel like the fool when they dont know what to do because they thought they knew it all. Doing the info gathering is why i know the dos and donts, like if your wheel is barely hanging on, dont move the damn car. Not trying to be rude or a dick, just trying to help with some common sence and a life tip. EDIT: This was meant to be after Psygo's post, but it seems the FP android app still has issues.
