To much antilag= blown exhaust manifold gasket but it's raining. Sigh...
To much antilag= blown exhaust manifold gasket but it's raining. Sigh...
I may be going out on a limb here, but have you considered changing the size of your turbine? A smaller turbine can make it spool faster, but you'd have to make some adjustments. If it's smaller you'll have less lag, but you'll be at max boot possibly too quick, not to sure if that would cause problems but I guess it would depend on your setup. I don't have complete knowledge on turbos or the set ups, mostly just info from playing with Automation fucking around with different compressor/turbine sizes, boost pressures and air restriction.
~snip~ Answered my own question as I'm fiddling with the speedo now.
I thought I'd have a laughing great time overhauling a recentish model Toyota starter motor today. Jesus the brushes were worn to the absolute minimum and the resultant dust had collected into a heap and then somehow caused a short to ground through the field windings, all four bearings sounded like maraccas. The solenoid contacts had been nearly obliterated, there was just copper dust everywhere inside the solenoid casing. The reduction gears were in good condition despite the dead grease. I couldn't replace the brushes cos I didn't have the right tools (or brushes) and it works slightly worse than before but is much quieter at least. I am glad it was a learning exercise and not an actual job :v:

It's all about striking the right balance, and it also depends if you want bottom end quick spooling for street use, or top end redline power for tracking. The bigger turbine is more than likely always going to have a better top end, but sometimes it's not enough of a difference to really mention. The turbo i ran in my civic was way too big, i didn't get start to make 'full' boost until after 4600rpm, with a 6800rpm rev limiter. But that last bit of rpms was sweet as fuck, by comparison to stock at least.
Or twin-turbo; one small and one big, for maximum range!
Or twin-turbo; one small and one big, for maximum range!
A buddy of mine wants to use a turbo to spool another turbo, not sure how that'll work out though.
Isn't that called a compound turbo? [editline]1st May 2014[/editline] Yes it is. https://www.atsdiesel.com/ats2/templates/template_06.asp?p=2029422272&c=36

Thanks for the info Del.
So, turns out the place I ordered it from only had that one in circulation company wide, so they are giving me a full refund on the rack I put in once I give it back. Went and just ordered a rack from NAPA and it should be here Monday perhaps. Round 2...
got my front coilovers on, rears will be on tomorrow after work :)
got my front coilovers on, rears will be on tomorrow after work :)
Pics please :3
Pics please :3
[t]http://i.imgur.com/VGhUM39.jpg[/t] sorry its so shitty ill have better ones after I get the rears on. 2in drop in the front, stock in the rear. SO MUCH BETTER. no more violent wheel vibration, no more body roll, no more clunking struts. Im going to drop the rear 2 inches and see how I like it, and maybe go a little lower on both ends when I have time to get an alignment. heres an old pic to compare [t]http://i.imgur.com/6U2CcIA.jpg[/t]
Dude drop it 3". Then get an alignment. The stock S13 height is way too high. 4" is too much for me haha This helps too.
Yesterday I replaced the compression rod bushings and got a rude surprise.. The rod had started eating away at the frame mounting point. Have to weld that up when I get the opportunity. Comparison of old/new bushings and damage. Then today I replaced the distributor cap and rotor. Surprised the old one even worked.. Rotor was seized on there and required the use of pb blaster and precision tools (i.e. a hammer) Gotta love working on 27 year old vehicles.
So it turns out NAPA has no racks but they will rebuild mine and it will take 14-17 days if I get it to them. Well time to do plan A, Junkyard racks. From there take the original rack back then send to napa whenever for rebuild and then the final rack will go on my car. Round 3...

There might be a few yards around here that'll have what ya need.
Actually Sabre15 is near you, but yeah thats a bit far since I am by Orlando.
Well damn. In any case if you ever happen to be in the area and need a hand with some car stuff you can always hit me up on steam or facebook or something.
Made a little anti vibration zone for my ipod out of some futuristic orange rubber! Probably going to cover it with a black fabric so it doesn't look so out of place. [img_thumb]https://scontent-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/t31.0-8/1277239_10202324688333217_1595930741104313523_o.jpg[/img_thumb]
I'm in florida, you?
Are you growing gills yet?
Subaru's been having some smokey probs so I took the TMIC off and replaced the PCV. Went ahead and cleaned the IACV while I was under there... Didn't really do anything. Getting the intercooler back on is at least fifteen times harder than taking it off.
So yesterday I pulled my catalytic off to see how it was doing, being it's never been replaced and has 144k+ miles on it. Fucking pristine it is and I was floored by that because of the engine problems it had before I got the car. Well loving the sound of loud engines and wanting my car to sound like a straight piped 3800 I decided to start the car for a moment. Holy shit did it sound beast, to bad I don't have a dummy cat or a way to effectively fool the downstream sensor or I'd have cleared that thing out then and there, i also don't know how punching it out would effect performance on the low end due to the whole back pressure thing. I'm kinda looking for options now to see what I CAN do that won't fuck me all up with "idiot lights" and sensor mods, potential power loss/gain, flash cooled E-valves and so on. Wat do? [editline]3rd May 2014[/editline]
Are you growing gills yet?
Blub blub homie. :v:
high flo cat and a "sporty" muffler?
I have a Greddy muffler, an old one but what ever. However the high flo cat wont fly because broke. Would pushing a few small holes through be a bad idea? It'd only be minor with sound and flow, but that sensor code is what would burn my ass.
I put a magnaflow high flow universal cat on my truck, it was about $107 shipped I think. http://montecarloforum.com/forum/headers-intake-exhaust-13/does-anyone-run-magnaflow-high-flow-catalytic-converters-33386/ [editline]3rd May 2014[/editline] I don't recall it being called this, but from what I know my cat looks like and what I'm seeing on the Magnaflow site, the one I bought was of the "Spun" variety. I'll have to keep magnaflow in mind if I do upgrade. Otherwise I'll just punch a small hole through it and call it a day.
