Whoa, what happened to the back side of your car? That is a huge dent.
Previous owner backed into a wall at night in an unfamiliar place
[editline]25th May 2014[/editline]
And honestly I don't blame her, basically anything from the passenger window back is a complete blind spot in the car. I just wish they would've fixed it. Instead I'm going to have to find a new fender and have a shop weld it in, and then my dad and I will sand the entire car and spray it.
[editline]25th May 2014[/editline]
And please don't make jokes about it being a girl, I don't find them funny at all. I actually find them very annoying and offensive.
If anything it's a good thing, she lived with her dad who spared no expense whenever the car visited the shop.
Uhmy guys, what does it mean if there's a black outline on my brake disk, that looks just like the pad? :V
I have a paint can with a slotted lid and slowly fill it with change.
I throw my car change in the turnpike speed basket and go Mach 10
I always have change in my car for when i go to Sweden, gotta have change for the shopping carts. :v:
Juksetier ftw :v:
This is my keychain for the house key:

It used to be round in the end, and have an €urocash livery, but that's worn away, and I've cut off the rear parts of it so I can just pull it out of the cart again. Useful for when other people are fiddling around with their wallets, trying to find a 10,- for a cart and I just pull in infront of them and unhook the chain with this, leaving the hole empty :v:
Juksetier ftw :v:
One of the shopping centers only take Swedish 10kr and Norwegian 20kr in the shopping carts so the fake ones aren't really that useful there. :v:

Oh I've managed to get shopping carts loose by just wiggling it around in there, it's just kind of a switch the coin presses anyway so if you got something roughly the same size, you'll be able to push the switch to release the chain

Juksetjuings then :v: But do you really go over there that often?

Every week.

Finally finished GF's KA24E overhaul. The exhaust manifold has a nice crack in it so that may need to be replaced with 4-2-1 headers.
I put thing back together.

Still waiting on the part to fix the timing on my friend's Eclipse.. should be here Tues. Then we find out just how bad all the valves are bent :v:
So for the mean time today he took a bunch of little parts off the engine that were worn and need paint, and painted them. I cut out a big rotted portion of the driver's strut tower and bent up a new piece of metal to replace it. Then ran out of welding gas 2/3 of the way through welding it on.
Always something

It sounds mean as fuck though.
Fuck the huge dents, more important matter is that he is the only person I know of that uses the coin holder to acculy hold coins.
Yeah but the overflow just goes into the cup holder directly behind the shifter (except pennies, they go elsewhere.)
I put this...

It could be a placebo effect but I'm reeeal certain after a quick test drive that it made a big difference.
Always check your cable ties guys
Installed hood struts on my car. Tomorrow is eyelids, new wheels and tires!

Where did you mount it ? Can you show me a close up picture ?
Where did you mount it ? Can you show me a close up picture ?
If you're talking about mine, Corksport sent a set of brackets that get mounted to to the frame underneath the back of the headlights. The other end is bolted on to holes that are already cut in the hinges.

Just found out today that it either has a) terrible cyl 1 rod knock or 2) collapsed intake filter 3)bent valves. It's making a loud tapping noise I think from the upper end

Sounds like this now; should be a quick fix if it's just a lifter, but if it's a freaking rod knock fuck this engine seriously.
Sounds more like a lifter than anything to me
That video is a lifter tick, my single cam was doing that for a while. recently its been super quiet, and stopped loosing oil so im seriously confused but okay with it.

From the video, it seems louder than most lifter ticks I've heard so it might be a fucked up lifter but there really isnt any way to tell unless you get the lifters out.
yea mines never that loud, and it would usually go away after the car is warm, might just be the dumb timing chain guide. it just sounds really similar

Sounds to me like it's a rocker arm with too much clearance, pull the cover check it with a feeler gauge and run the numbers against the wear limit.
A valve could have bent slightly keeping it from closing all the way, which can cause that tap. Could also be carbon build up on a valve seat maybe.
Who's car is this?

Oh yeah, that's not the way it sounded. I was talking about the V8-sounding video you put up on Instagram.

That's too much of a tick to be a knock if it sounds anything like that. It's probably a lifter since those KA's have those and I've heard they go bad sometimes.
"I'd rather be lucky than good" holds goddamn true today. The 99 Eclipse, after 3+ weeks of sitting in my driveway with a broken timing tensioner pivot bolt (very specialty), a full replacement bracket showed up in the mail from ebay, for $45. The dealer wanted $250.
So we put it in and timed the engine.
And did a compression test.
And it went as follows: 180, 180, 180, 150.
And we effing celebrated by putting in the plugs and wires.
And it ran.
And we continued celbrating by putting the whole shit back together in the most mosquito ridden night you can imagine.
And just as it was unbearable, we finished it and drove the bitch to mcdonalds.
Hit that 1 in a million chance that the pistons didn't destroy the valves. Life is OK.

Sounds just exactly like the collapsed lifters I had in the past.
Sounds just exactly like the collapsed lifters I had in the past.
Yep, sure enough when I removed the valve cover this morning I found one exhaust rocker arm had collapsed and had tremendous play. For some stroke of luck I had a brand new spare laying about and it was the exact one.

Now sounds awesome. The long-tube header exhaust manifold is coming tomorrow and that should finish off this build.
