Jurryrigged my broken kouki tail a bit today.
Here is a pic 1/2 way through I dont have a pic as what it started as because they originally just had red tape on them. I remade the shape of the tail light with plastic, tape, glue, and markers lol. I also stuck one of those reflective circle things inside the left one so it wasnt just red. the left circle was completely gone before.

much better than it was and I should be getting a replacement soon.
I've been without internet for a week, changed isps, but during the week, I did a valve lash adjustment, the slant 6 way. (this is the chrysler recommended method)
It took me a minute to remember I had the power to control engine speed, and it made it a bit easier, but it is funny to watch.

Then afterwards I cut my own spark plug wires for the first time. It was actually incredibly easy to assemble them, and now i don't have the stock rat's nest of plug wires that came stock, and I think these look cleaner. They're 5x as expensive as a stock replacement set, but worth it ($60 Accels)

I have too many hobbies all with way too much invested in all.

I don't understand, is the valvetrain/rockers not oiled? Why is there no oil on anything?
I don't understand, is the valvetrain/rockers not oiled? Why is there no oil on anything?
They are oiled. The oil spirals up the pushrods, then travels through a channel in the rocker arm and falls onto the valve spring. There is oil shooting everywhere and draining down the back of the head in the video, it's just not noticable. There were tiny black spots all over EVERYTHING. The set screws were also covered which made them really difficult to keep a wrench on, on top of the shaking.
Hydraulic lifters?
The space between the cam and valves on mine is solid, you have to manually put the right sized shims in to set valve lash and then do it again when you get a bigger cam.
I just started the process of making my Galant's interior not shit-grey with some black plasti-dip on the dash, and closer to making it nice black and tan.
But it's my birthday tomorrow and I have work so so much for that for a week :c

Nope, these are solid lifters, hydraulic came later on the 80's slant heads. No shims for this beast. Also hydraulic lifters, IIRC never need to be adjusted after you set them initiall?
Yea, hydraulic lifters make life a lot easier, lol.
Hmmm I wonder why my handbrake doesn't work...
[t]http://i.imgur.com/ch9FrGA.jpg[/t]
Oh, maybe the lever is just completely seized up, good thing I live in the plains and hardly ever need to use the handbrake or park in gear (but I do still)
Part of me wants to pry it loose, part of me thinks I'd rather not know if I need to replace the cables and everything
[editline]now[/editline]
I don't remember my calipers looking that bad before winter
Worked on the BMW more, Removed the dash which took me WAY longer then it should have after you need to remove a bolt right beneath the winshield and the thread on it was completely fucked. With no way to reach it with anything I spend the entire afternoon on it.
Other then that spend the last 1/2 days stripping the wire loom, fun fun fun

oops quickly resized that.... my resolution is 3200x1800 (even though being on a 15inch laptop) and I forgot that anything that looks tiny here, turns up fucking huge here :v:

Last time I cut my own Accel wires, it was a pain. It would have been easier with proper crimping/cutting tools. Also slipping the wire into a 90 degree boot eugh
Noticed on the way down to the beach that my headlights looked like they were bouncing. I had a feeling for a while that they might be but it was pretty bad on the way down. Took about 5 minutes to investigate it and it seems like the entire door is moving downwards and then either cranking itself back up or bouncing back up. I've heard the motors can become loose and cause the bounce so I've gotta pull off the doors tonight and see what's going on. Funnnnnnn!
Dyno session schedule!
Just gotta use a timing light to confirm there is no hardware latency as the rev increase (Megasquirt bullshits), change the plugs and hop we go
Look at this load that showed up at my house today.

Oh surprise it's incredibly difficult to get to the headlamp door motors on late 4th gen Firebirds

Actually, I know what you mean, and I was watching videos on how to do it before I went and bought the wire. One of them the guy shot WD40 into the boots, then went about measuring and cutting, when he got to the boot part, the wire literally just slid right through it, so I did that, and it was easy. Slid the boot on, then cut the 5/8" of slack off the end with a knife, as I found it easier to use that and not mess up the coiled wire, then folded it over, and crimped it with cable crimpers and slid the boot down. It wasn't so bad with the WD40 - without it - impossible.

Plasti-dipped some of my dash from grey to black. Have a lot more to get this interior the way I want it.
This was my first time using plasti-dip and my only question is why isn't all paint like this hnnggng
Plastidip that woodgrains.
I'd like to take this opportunity to say that the black looks good. Also you are a smart individual for keeping deodorant in the car.

What about it melting though?

Next up is flocking the dash, Removing the HORRIBLY welded seat frame, more tar removing :suicide: and sanding everything before I paint the inside white. (I know I should wait until the cage is in, but it will be my first time painting anything car-wise so I'll get to practice a bit that way)
What about it melting though?
True, better off keeping it under the seat. Trust me, when you forget to put it on in the morning, then go work, you regret it. It's always good to keep toothpaste and a toothbrush, and deodorant in the car. Life lesson right there.
Yeah that deodorant has saved me many times, although I never have a melting problem with it there for some reason.
I might keep the wood grain depending on how it turns out, or i've been thinking about getting a brushed aluminum overlay for it.
I'm thinking about going either all black with a little bit of tan, or I might go for this:
(Somebody else's 8G Galant):

What do you guys think?
Digging the tan/black combo. I think it might need to be done fully though, with the seats.
I have black and tan seat covers to cover up the shit grey cloth, and i'm going to try to acquire myself some tan or black leather seats from an eclipse or other galant.
Changed my driveshaft today as my last one snapped.

I feel you, we pulled out the center console and most of the dashboard today to replace my blower fan for my AC.
Here are a bunch of pics of doing the job.
http://cleanflametrap.com/
It took us about 5 hours or so and we had 1 extra screw left over
we were doing it RIGHT :v:
You probably saved you the equivalent of another 240 by doing that job yourself.
You probably saved you the equivalent of another 240 by doing that job yourself.
Whats scary is that you are right, local shops wanted $1000 and there is a running 240 for sale for $800
