I didn't use anything on my waterpump, just the rubber gasket it comes with. Does a ka24 not come with that?
Nissan used Ultra Grey Nissan RTV for everything. After 20 something odd years they rot and flake away. When installed before it dries and torqued down proper it seals right. When it doesnt it sucks. Solid gaskets definitely saves time and worry. [T]http://i.imgur.com/7QyReup.jpg[/t] I filled it up with oil, no leaks. Still needs a few things like new catalytic converter and actual motor mounts (instead of hockey pucks). Should close this chapter of my life
Idk man, you should take your experience and build a ka24 for boost. That's what I want to do with my d17a short block sitting in my garage. 300-350hp single cam beast. [editline]17th July 2014[/editline] Or swap an sr20. Ah shit that's right, you're in Cali
Seconding ultra copper here, dad runs it on his 2600hp twin turbo cuda for a header gasket and its never leaked in 8 years hes used it. i used it to seal a 351c exhaust manifold on a 460 exhaust port and if any of you know fords its like putting a 1.5 inch pipe on a 1 3/4 inch oval hole, its almost the same size but nowhere close to the same shape. That shit hasnt leaked in the slightest
I am currently at work doing nothing and now i have found this forum which i'm hoping to enjoy and come on daily!
Stayed awake for I guess like 30 hours at this point; Installed my rear driveshaft, airhammered the living shit out of my floor until I MADE that cunt-case fit, installed my front yoke on the t-case, filled my t-case with fluid, installed the clutch master pushrod onto the pedal, installed my shifter, installed my exhaust, at about 3am i realized i was 1qt short on synchromesh so I'm waiting for advanced vato to open so i can grab another bottle, Next is putting a battery in it and turning the key. Swear to fuckin god m8 m8

Shiban, i would like to see what kind of shit you'd be doing if you lived in a free state like in Oklahoma. I literally turbo charged my car with a buddy and had an exhaust that ended under the driver seat. I got pulled over and left with a warning for going 8mph over the speed limit, he didn't say shit about how loud my car was or that it was obviously modified. Also didn't have insurance at the time... Man what a cool fucking cop.
Put that last quart of fluid in and drove my jeep for the first time since probably november of 13' Fuq yeah.

I'd probably throw on a giant turbo on my current engine with a nice sounding exhaust. That or throw in a Skyline RB26 twin turbo and build it from the ground up. Thats why I kept my SOHC. I was in the middle of thinking of stealth turboing it or keeping it N/A. So if I got caught with it turboed, I can just remove it and have it pass ref N/A and put it back on again. Just hate California cops. Just this week they raided a car meet and impounded lots of cars. They really hate tuners here
I think a lot of the hate tuners get is that some of them drive like jerks, do burnouts, and street racing. They give a bad image to the group. The instant I see somebody with a lowered civic or an import with a bunch of stickers on it, I instantly think they are a jerk, just based on the bad experiences I've had in the past.
I've met groups of imports that are more mature then older middle aged muscle car drivers. I know import kiddies that act like their 2.1l single cam with a cold air is going to whip everyones ass cause its a manual. They don't get inside the westchester cliche till they grow up, No one ever gets kicked out permantly of the westchester scene unless physical fights happen. People get in on the wrong foot, Guide them to proper channels and now you have another cool guy at meets or in general with cars.
The cops definitely don't LIKE tuners here, and i used the term tuners loosely. Most of the car scene around the OKC area are a bunch of.. let's just leave it at ricers. It's all about 'street racing' a bunch of shitbox slammed civics around here and not so much about meeting up and hanging out. Now, there are a few people who are respectable but it seems like they're too far and few in between. It's so lame that i've never actually taken my own car to any of the 'meets', i've just rode up with a buddy when he got his 370z and decided i didn't much care for it. The only time I've ever 'street raced' is if it's a random encounter with someone at the lights or something, but i haven't even done that in a good year or so. If i get this valet job i'm hoping to get, the civic is gonna get some long overdue wrench time. It'll be rad again, or my name isn't DYLAN -THE HAMMER- 94

Just this week they raided a car meet and impounded lots of cars. They really hate tuners here
Sounds like Southern California. They're pretty harsh down there on modifications - and all you have to have is a loud exhaust and it's grounds to open the hood and make sure your car is California Air Resources Board compliant. If you're smart, you hunt the carb website for executive order numbers for each part you have before you buy it. You'd be surprised how many cars are "allowed" to have a Greddy turbo system. It's all based on if the company spent the time and money to go get it approved and it's based on how much "air pollution" the part causes. http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/amquery.php For instance: The 240-SX from 1991-1992 IS allowed to have a "Kenne Bell inc." turbocharger setup. Part number KB7700. The executive order is EO: D-271 If the parts are installed as the instructions with the kit states, the part is legal. Then you keep a printout of the E.O. in the car: http://arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/eo/D-271.pdf The printout also states what parts are in the kit. If you notice - you could assemble these parts yourself, and is based off of a Garrett t-25 turbo. And usually to be safe you put a sticker with the E.o. number under the hood. You keep one paper for every modification you've done if it complies with CARB. SO modify away, just hopefully that list I just showed you helps the cal guys out. Also yes - this does make the car pass SMOG, but only if you are choosing parts of the list. Could you put a sticker on another part to look like a carb legal part? I'm not suggesting anything.
Got the A/C charged with R134a today, only lost a pound of pressure on the low side when the tech injected two ounces of PAG40 into the system, which is very good. The R134 takes time to get cold, but it does get cold, and autoclimate works wonders to shuffle the air around to cool the car quickly even for a retrofitted car. Also went to a local pick and pull scrapyard with a friend to find Benz and Volkswagen parts. Got I/O plug leads for the Comfort Control Module of a VW Passat, a new front dome light for my Benz, new distributor cap, several unused fuses, a sunroof switch, screws for my front ash tray, a fuse cover, and an original MB Safety Restraint System booklet. I also tripped on a transmission bellhousing gasket and fell on some mud covered glass and gashed my knee open pretty good but it was worth it since I payed 20 bucks total for $150 worth of parts. I gotta go back for a fuel pump cover, some trim, and possibly a new sunroof subframe so I can ditch that horrid cable shroud.
I would like to strangle the dickweed who designed OAD pulleys for Alternators. $150 for a fucking pulley and $50 for a tool to remove it. What a fun day.
Been meaning to paint the calipers for a long time. This is what the caliper looked like before. Thought it was black. After a can of Brakleen. Lot's of masking and 4 coats of paint! All done, Did the front 2 wheels today and I'm going to the rear tomorrow. My rims are dirty :c
All wrong. This is how you paint your brakes: [t]http://puu.sh/8UQG0.jpg[/t] This was for sale in a Norwegian cars for sale Facebook-group :v:
Did he... paint the rotor?
Yes he did
Red makes it faster...wait..
Red makes it faster...wait..
It will go faster into a ditch because the brakes won't do jack shit :v:
surely the paint will go off pretty fast
Surely those brakes are clean.
surely the paint will go off pretty fast
yeah I think some of those caliper paint cans advertise that you just paint the everything and then after your first brake pedal tap it'll clean the rotor off.
Yeah most people actually paint the whole thing. If you paint the rotor "hat" or whatever you want to call it you will also insulate it from rust which can fuse/stick your wheel to the rotor. Most "premium" rotors have a painted rotor "hat". The paint would literally rub/burn off the first time you braked from 20mph. That Audi has literally every piece of suspension blatantly painted red for no reason, that's the real stupid thing.
That Audi has literally every piece of suspension blatantly painted red for no reason, that's the real stupid thing.
Sir its a VW not a Audi.
Sir its a VW not a Audi.
Ah yeah you're right, I thought it was an A4. Red painted everything on a Jetta/Passat is even worse..
If a little grease from a brake job on the rotor/pads can mess the pads up for good I shudder to think what a bunch of paint would do.
Last week my back window rolled down and wouldn't come back up, it being pay day and getting a fat check for working on the 4th I ordered a new window motor for the back window and the driver window since it didn't work either. The box arrived yesterday morning as I was leaving for work, I literally caught the ups guy at the bottom of the stairs. Anyways today I go and get to work on my windows, starting with the back window. I unbolted the glass and pulled the motor and regulator out, it does look like it needs replacement as the guides for the pulleys are busted, but it did work in reverse. I bolt the new motor in and go to test it before bolting the glass to it...goes down, but not up. JUST. LIKE. THE. OLD. ONE. I tore the switch apart and it looks new, every single other switch works, just not the switches for that window. I checked all related fuses and not one single fuse in the car is blown, not even the fuse for my non existant sun roof(???) I opened up the drivers door and got as far as taking the door panel it self apart before deciding I was wasting my time and it probably isn't that switch( could be I dunno) and decided to just pull the old window motor out there too. The hardest part was aligning the glass back into its tracks and keeping it there while I bolted it to the new motor. The front motor took me probably 15 minutes from start to finish. But I was out there fucking with the back window for almost two hours. Feel like I almost got heat stroke. My phone said it was 72f out, but its a lot hotter than that Car 1 - Me 1
