Fuck living in the Rustbelt sucks. Tryin to change a wheel hub... Spent 4+ hours today, let shit soak in PB blaster and hit it with a 25lb sledge hammer for a good 25 minutes. Next step: remove knuckle from car and go to shop with 50 tonne press... Ugh...

Oregon is a no salt state!
Oregon is a no salt state!
Too far north for me XD Plus, I love getting old desert cars. Little to no rust.
Central/Eastern Oregon is basically just desert and farmland, Oregon literally has like a little of every climate.
So I managed to strip the tie-rod end while trying to it out of the knuckle off, and the nut seized up half way on. Had to Cut it off to get it out. Good ol' rust. Don't have enough time left to keep screwing around on my own, had to break down and tow it to a shop. Fuck...

First rule of moving to Oregon, don't move to Oregon!
Washington is the same as Oregon, but its better...because its not oregon
Wetsanded with 2000 grit and polished my headlights today, tossed them in the oven and tried to get the sealant to "reflow". Hopefully going to clear them sometime soon so I can rip out the "professionally" restored ones for my personally restored ones.

My Civic's HX wheels also no longer look like this! They now have paint and clear coat on them so I'll post pictures when I get them back.

Definitely going to have to buy the red H stickers for the center caps, definitely the cleanest HX wheels locally with literally 0 curbing.

Or maybe I'll have to paint them since the guy who used to make them doesn't anymore and closed up his ebay shop which seemed to have been really popular from a google search.
Okay, so yesterday I got done working on my friends '98 Grand Marquis. Hole-e-shit. The spark plugs hadn't been changed in 200,000 miles. Somehow they were corroded and.. I don't know how the thing worked. Anyways, I found a host of shit where they spark plugs sat including:
* A walnut
* Duct-tape on a spark plug
* a rubber boot (thing you put on a spark plug encase you drop it)
I'm at a loss. And they smelled like death.. I almost through up pulling one of them out.
Done!!

Tracked down the dude who made the H stickers and emailed him, he still can make them and I just paid the invoice for red H's.
They have a decent bit of imperfections but from 5ft you won't notice them, not to mention they are properly prepped and clear coated so after they cure the paint won't wash off or any of that shit.
I found a guy selling a set of OEM suspension for a EF hatch with rather new rear shocks for $25, gonna pick those up on saturday!
I hate how sometimes the tool to replace a part is more expensive to buy than the actual part itself.

In my case an inner tie rod installer/remover.

$130.00 for balljoint press and 38 bux for an adjustable balljoint by master pro. I feel your pain bro.
And for todays DIMS (do it my self), I get a call last night from a lady friend that her door wont close and she thinks the latch is busted. Well it was, but not because a spring broke...

Didn't get any afters yet, she had to head out and do some stuff but I'll snap a couple shots when she does return.
I had to weld the piece that broke out back in, which went fairly well. However my Nintendo Addict shirt suffered the wrath of molten metal. My ability to zone in is a blessing and curse.

Even worse is when you might only use the tool once.

I had exact same thing happen on my dart. The door hinge popped into the door. If you can weld metal that thin, you need to move nearby and be my friend.
yeah thats a typical A body thing, my dart has it, and my dart parts car had it. Cousins 1973 didnt have it though. They still work, just not as well, wonder why they dont completely fall in though?
Made my Civic look better today again.
When I bought it.

Installed a trim piece I pulled from the junkyard. Also fixed/replaced the cigarette lighter and ashtray holder with ones from an EX which are illuminated unlike the DX. I lost the bulb holder for the lighter socket though so I need to go grab one out of the local junkyard. Now I just need to buy like a 30 pack of bulbs and replace all my climate control bulbs so I can have a fully working interior with the higher trim clock and other bits.
Hopefully in a few days I'll get my center cap stickers so I can toss my new wheels on! Tomorrow I'm selling a spare hood and spoiler and hopefully picking up that set of EF suspension too, I'll also go grab an axle so I can not sling axle grease all over my fresh wheels.. Hopefully a guy picks up my CRX seats and I might spend that on a cluster with a tach :v: Maybe I'll drop it all on door lock actuators and an alarm so I can do keyless door handles next too.
I love these little cars, so much fun to have as a second car and toss a little cash here and there at it.

This partially the reason I bitch about being in florida so often, there is no one around I can do car stuff with on the regular. :/
Thats how I feel about my accord, just fixing little things here and there.
Del why you no have the car script? Aside from the fact I forget what you drive shortly after you post it and get lazy and dont wanna sift through pages, you post here enough to have your little garage thingy.
Join us, it's awesome.
I havent posted from my desktop in like 2 months :p
You don't need a desktop, though, just PM Banana what car you got (year, make, model, (optional) link to some pictures), and he'll add you to it, and you'll get your garage under your avatar.

Did you check with a local auto parts store to see if they would loan it?

Mine took about a year to do it. It was pretty substantial when it did break. It chipped paint on the edge of the door. I through bolted some larger metal across the whole inside of the door, and put a steel spacer to move the hinge out to the correct spot, and just drilled new holes in it. There's like a 1/2" of steel holding that door up now.
I suspect it's the cam that holds the door open for you. On my door the cam got stuck open, then I went to close it, and the hinge moved on the easiest thing to move - the rusty door end and punched right through it. I ground the cam down to re-use the hinge. It works just fine, except that one door doesn't stay open on its own anymore. -Doesn't hurt anything.
i now have a working stereo in the volvo!

I would take out the interior near the dent and kick most of it out if possible, worth a shot I was able to do it on my 240 today because my dickhead "friend" slapped the rear quarter panel and put a fist sized dent in it.
We JDM now?

Yeah, that door won't be hold itself open anytime soon. It needs that spring for the cam(?), just swings on its own. But in any case it closes super fucking easy now and if theres any problems with the latch I'll do what you did and put a decent sized piece of steel behind the jamb, drill it and bolt it down.

Seriously, fuck "friends" who damage your car in any way. Real friends respect their friend's stuff and cars to an even higher degree. There is no time in life for "friends", people like these should simply be used as acquaintances and discarded when no longer useful.
It's a crease, I can't just pop it out. The P.O hit a concrete pillar in a parking garage though so it's not impact damage. I've tried pulling it through the trim holes but that just makes the paint break off and a dent. It's gonna need to be nail gun'd back into shape and the crease pounded back in along with a good bit of body filter.
I'm completely happy with it, I'll most likely use this car or his 90' Si to learn how to prep and paint before me and a buddy take on his s2000 and my Integra. Someday it'll have nice paint matched bumpers and clean trim. Honestly looks better than an easy 75% of EF Civics out there anyways.
Besides, in the true fashion of a proper civic owner: It's gonna look sick when I get the wheels on it, the body is fine lol.
