yes sir i did. :[
yeah the air thing would make sense, i guess there's really no way to know for sure. it's all good though. selling it and trying to come up with $550 by the end of the week before i leave for school and picking this up.

Accords are solid cars and generally less beat than civics. Check to see if the front brakes are warped lol
funny you mention that. the guy i'm getting it from said they're getting a bit 'rusty,' lol.
Changed the oil and filter in the J20, didn't have enough oil to fully fill it but I'll do that next week.
Also bought a new battery for it, a Optima with 815CCA. Now the starter really spins. Huge difference to my old cheapo battery.
Shit, soon I'll be able to run it through inspection. Looking forward to that!

Just like I always learned : "civics are a poor man's accord"
When I sold my 98 heavily rice-afied civic to a co-worker for $2300, he also gave me his 1991 Accord because he didn't know what else to do with it. One of the shock towers was rusted out so the wheel just kinda stayed on the car with force of will alone. It was a manual transmission, with 375k miles on it. It ran, but the wheel was an issue. It was 2x totaled out on the title. I had two cars already and no need for it, so I put a piece of paper on the license plate frame that said $1,000 with a note that said what was wrong with it in the rear window, and put it on the street. Someone came by with $600 cash and offered me 4 wheels in trade for the rest of the cost. I let it go since I got it for free. The wheels didn't fit anything I owned and I sold em on clist for $200.
I kinda wish I kept that car and just fixed it. it was ugly, but I didn't know what to do with it at the time.
This was the civic I sold him. Previous owner traded me my ex's 98 Beetle for it straight across. So I got it for free considering I kept the car, and ditched the beetle and the ex.

Someone spent a lot of money on it before he got it. I didn't notice any of the "mods" making it seem remotely faster than a stock civic and the electronic ignition module constantly shut off in the middle of driving on the freeway. The car warranted a lot of negative attention so I sold it.

This was my favorite part. A clock, well tachometer and shiftlight. When it was time to shift the whole cabin illuminated. lol.

But in the DIY fashion, this was the only thing I did to it: I built a fiberglass and wood framed enclosure that just looked like the floor was flat, and reverse mounted a cheap$30 sub to a 11" hole in it.

Sounded ok.
I went to go visit him at his appartment after I sold it to him and his roomate said he was in Arizona in jail and getting ready to be deported back to Mexico, because he got a DUI in the civic. The civic was in impound in Tacoma, WA which was only 30 minutes away and he told his roomate I could have the car back and signed the title in jail while he was in tacoma. I never got it. The fees to pull it weren't worth my time. I miss Gabriel. He was like one of my best illegal friends. :( I almost never had any idea what he was saying either...
So today my radio decided that it was going to ignore the fact it has a mic for bluetooth, a mountable one and one built into the screen section. Or so I thought, turns out my phones bluetooth function bugged out, so bad in fact that the phone almost froze.
But I already had the dash apart by the time I figured that part out so instead I decided that I'd fix the cigarette lighter port, modifying it in the process to never accept a lighter for use ever again being it's on the same fuse circuit as the radio and I've got my phone charger and dash cam charger plugged into it. The problem with it was it didn't work, at least I thought it didn't and found it in fact does so now my dash cam will come on and go off when I'm driving and won't forget to unplug it when I do use it, which was a problem.
This also let me delete the ugly and annoying white wire that powered the lighter port. Later I'll clean up the rest of the wires under the hood, but after I get that last part for my CAI.
I wonder where that car is now lol. Probably tin cans

Wait you live close to Tacoma? Dang small world it's where I live never seen that civic before though. It's true though that accords are less beat up cause tuners go for civics more plain and simple.

I used to. From 2010 to 2011 I was working as a manager for a floor waxing company going to safeways and albertsons and training employees to use equipment. I was driving that car all over the state (literally) since my range area was Port Angeles to Seattle. I lived in Bremerton though.

I do wonder - from time to time. I didn't necessarily hate it, but it probably got auctioned off. Someone spent mad money on it. It had some kind of lowering kit. Kind of cool wheels, a real CF hood, strut bars front and back. Megan Ebay headers. Skunk2 intake manifold, skunk2 cam and cam gear, MSD ignition, Chrome ECU, some kinda short ram cheapo intake with a weapon filter, and a cool red valve cover. lol. Also the timing cover was cut so you could see the skunk 2 gear. I gotta find the picture. it looked terrible.
EDIT: HERE IT IS! haha.

When I got it these were literally just sitting on the passenger floor, but wired up. I shoved them as far as I could under the dashboard and screwed them down.
Remember my buddy with the 300c? Well he drove his car for about a week and now its ticking like a miata overdue for an oil change.
He has the 5.8l hemi and it sounds like its coming from the fuel injectors. Has anyone else had an issue like this?
Washed and waxed the truck, sun set mid-wax though so I have no idea if it made any noticeable difference.
I got my transmission bolted up to the engine and I was able to use my clutch pedal. I need to install the cross member and install the drive shaft, which I should be able to do tomorrow.
Cleaned up more grounds today on the MR2.
Slowly narrowing down the electrical problem, tomorrow i'm going to focus on the starter and try to clean up my engine bay a little bit.

All while my Galant is sitting across the yard, jealous of the attention i'm giving the Toyota :v:
So I finally started engine work on my El Camino. First things first, pull it out. It was a gigantic pain in the ass, and this thing looked like it had never been pulled out before. Only new thing on the engine was the distributor cap, as well as the spark plug wires. There is pretty much a half inch of gunk on literally everything. So, we wrestle with it, get pissed, drink beer, and finally get it out.

It has a 350 SBC Gen 1 in it, with a 3 speed Muncie. The previous owner did a horrible hamjam job of taking off the 3 on the tree linkage and cutting an ugly hole in the floor and throwing a Hurst in there. It is awful and I wish that it was still 3 on the tree. Anyways, here is what we had.

Everything under the hood is in dire need of cleaning and I know that many things are needing replacement. We stick the engine on the stand after splitting the transmission. We then took the clutch off. Easily the worst clutch I have ever laid eyes on. This thing probably was never changed in all 41 years of this vehicle existing. The friction plate was definitely uneven as well.

After recovering from the shock, we set to work taking the block apart. I didn't take many pictures because I was more interested in getting the top end off, so sorry about that. However, after getting the intake manifold and the left side heads off, I took pictures of the horrors that lay within that poor engine. Just looking at it made me sick.

Note the coolant/oil mix going on there. I would have blown the head gasket had I ran that thing any longer. Also note the 41 years worth of calcium deposits in the water intakes, as well as the incredibly terrible pistons that were obviously detonating like a motherfucker.

The heads were anything if not worse. The valves are burnt to shit, and the metal would just flake off at the touch.

I had one and my buddy has one (300c), his would do it every now and then more often than mine (higher miles) and mine would do it only on start up, what helped mine was changing the oil. Is he using the factory recomended oil? It needs 5w-30 I think not 10w-30 which is what my buddy ran, it only ever ticks at startup now but its due for a change but when it was fresh it was fine. Does the ticking not go away? It could be a collapsed lifter too.
We just changed the oil 2 weeks ago, can't remember what we used but I'll ask him.
He said he noticed it when he was stopped in a parking lot after it was warmed up. I didn't run it long enough today to let it get warmed up since I wasn't sure what was wrong.
The ticking does increase in frequency with higher RPM's though.
Did a 3000km service on a Geely today. pretty much involved topping up levels, checking lights washers tyre levels.
The first thing I noticed when I hopped in was that the shroud around the steering column looked a bit mangled and was held together by tec screws. (remember that it had only 3000k's)
Quite clearly a factory option from Geely
Redid all three motor mounts in the Benz, and the shock mounts. The car doesn't shake at all anymore at idle.

You should leave it there and cut out a hole in the hood for it.

Doing all the math, I'm going for 8lbs, should net 250ish hp, and be somewhere in the 13s.

That's a smaller displacement slant with built internals and bigger valves running a brown cam I believe. 170ci with a bigger turbo. Slant 6's move.
So I decided that I would fab up a tool for myself, did it in in about 10 minutes because of the awkwardness of holding the pieces together.

Google had this pull up, #1 makes sense because its common for the valves to drop in hemis.
http://www.challengertalk.com/forums/f5/hemi-tick-cause-cure-31777/
And try running 2 tanks worth of 89 octane, if you look on the manual it says to always run on 89 for optimal performance but nobody cares and runs 87. I know for sure my car ran WAY happier with 89 octane, there was a few times where I accidentally got 87 put in and it just wasnt the same but throughout running 89 I never had the tick except for a very short time at startup.
Neat little trick on the chrysler is hold down the music symbol button (left side?) and the compass button (right side?) for 10-15 seconds and your display above the PRND21 display will show a diagnostic kinda screen where it will tell you rpm, oil pressure, pedal position, stuff like that, pretty cool little feature. Its good to keep an eye on oil pressure and see if thats checking out.
