https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fq2ekzptguo m8 its all about the sick turbo fluttas on ya wog wagon.
It sounds like someone trapped a crying dog inside the engine bay. It also sounds stupid... Mounted the intercooler in with my son today. That way it is done and out of the way, and will make it easier to just bolt in turbo, run tubing, and go. Once he goes down for nap time I'll be able to cut the rad support holes to mount my two 90* pieces.
Remember my buddy with the 300c? Well he drove his car for about a week and now its ticking like a miata overdue for an oil change. He has the 5.8l hemi and it sounds like its coming from the fuel injectors. Has anyone else had an issue like this?
My Mazda3 ticks from the fuel rail. It's normal. But that's a Chrysler, so it's probably just crap.
A toonie sized rust hole became over a square foot of new sheet metal and part of the front floor brace. Edited: woo, six panels down, three more to go. Edited: I guess while the battery is disconnected I should replace the headlamp relay. Its so fucked up that I had to source a whole new connector and six inches of harness, plus a new relay.
Most of the tick from Hondas is usually fuel injectors, I know both my cars tick horribly from the injectors.
Is there a particular reason as to why they tick? I don't know too much about fuel injectors, does that indicate that there is any damage?
most likely just because of the pressure going through them. GMs high-feature v6 is a ticky-tick master because it has a high pressure fuel pump under the hood.
Is there a particular reason as to why they tick? I don't know too much about fuel injectors, does that indicate that there is any damage?
Fuel injectors are essentially electro magnets that open and close valves to let fuel through so some of them may tick depending on how worn they are or simply how they are made.
I've noticed mine went from really quiet at 100k miles to fairly loud at 150k miles, so I'd just say normal high mileage deposits. You could send them out to be sonic cleaned at Osidetiger or something if the ticking bothers you, otherwise it's normal. [editline]23rd August 2014[/editline] So I finally jacked up my teg yesterday to find what has been sounding like an axle click for the last 3k miles or so. Turns out I have a pretty bad front left wheel bearing, FML. I really really don't want to do wheel bearings.
Well, here's the Cavalier all turned out. The clearcoat I shot was 'High Tek' high solids clear and I didn't like it. It was about 80*F out and it cured way to fast (I even mixed it 'cool' to avoid that), so that mean it didn't flow as good as I'd like a good gun finish to be. It meant that runs weren't much of an issue, though. I layed it on way too thick on a corner on a messy spray and it didn't even run, so that was cool. Good old Grandpa Bob was amazed by it, and it was a budget quicky job so that's what counts. The primer was shot over the bondo'd areas and then blocked with 200 grit, followed by 400 then 600 to blend it all in. All the weird marks on the driver's door I just layed primer in reallllly thick and blocked it. It ended up being an acceptable way to take care of them. There's still some wrinkle, but not much. A couple more blockings/coats and it wouldn't been straight, but there's limit$. After it was masked and cleaned thoroughly with prep solvent I shot about 3 quarts of black basecoat on it. Thoroughly inspected it for any light areas, found none, then blew all the bugs off that gathered on there and started in on the clear. Originially I had too much hose on the compressor and the sytem pressure was dipping to like, 20 PSI. No good, I usually shoot with my regulator set to around 50PSI. It wastes a little more pressure, but it helps lay a better clearcoat down. It was OK for the basecoat, but when I started shooting the clear I had to re-do my air system with less hose to allow for more pressure. Then I laid down almost a full gallon of clear. Very very acceptable. I mean how much money is going to come from a cavalier. Somehow the entire lineup since the early beginning has been praised as "cheap junk" but this looks like a well polished piece. If I remember correctly you're just trying to sell this car?
Lol, he says he might keep it now. I charged $300, paint and materials for him was around $230. He has a guy willing to pay $2000 but he's like 'fuck! I kinda just wanna keep it now!' He's driving a 97 Z24 ATM, he loves him some Cavaliers.
Damn, looks brand new
Didn't do anything too exciting today, I unbolted my alternator, reshot the casing gloss black (the flat black I did before just looked dusty all the time) and reshot the brake master gloss black. Now it is not as show-offy. My whole goal in the engine bay pre-turbo is to black out all the "necessary" equipment or make it not stand out as much so once the turbo piping, spool, etc goes in, it'll be front and center uber sexy. Same theory with how people paint an engine black then put a big chrome blower on top of it. Same idea. Pick one or two things to look pretty, and it will look great. In other news, i finally repainted my rockers, which were bothering me. Originally I had some stickers over the paint missing spots. I'm still not sure why they got painted black by previous owner, but there's no undoing it until I paint the whole car at some future date. They just make the car's shadow seem larger and make a few body lines dissapear - like making the doors look like they end at the bottom of the car. But at least now they don't look terrible, and the stickers are off. God damn, I wish my Cavalier looked that nice. I'd have to get rid of a lot of rust to get anywhere close to how that turned out. And I definitely don't have the equipment or skill for that.

Check the antenna connection, unplug/replug, etc. Then ground the (IIRC) white/blue 'activation input' with a tap to ground and see if it activates the RS

All the wiring is fine. Though not even the status led comes on. Nothing happens with the programming button either. Right now, we've guessed that it was either the Spal locking module (Though their site specifically tells you how to set it up with a remote starter / alarm) or the way we hooked up the trunk release (hooked up the negative pulse on the starter to the button, which worked when we tested it). Because having it stop working just my gently moving it around doesn't seem plausible. So, if I get a replacement or buy another identical unit, we're just going to go a little overkill on the relays as a precaution.
How are the SPALs hooked up?? Are they ran to relays and 5 wired that way? Trunk release should be - pulse at the button, and the - trunk wire at the brain can handle that. However if you tried to use just the lock/unlock wires out of the brain to the doorlock motors you put in that'd def toast that lol.

Their website told me to send a ground pulse to the specific wires that the switch lines are hooked up to. So it should work fine...
The other day, a friend and I, in our quest to get the MR2 to start have run into a new issue. We ended up trying to get the starter to go by unplugging the old solenoid wire on the starter and getting a new wire and connecting it directly to the positive terminal on the battery. The starter cranked, but the car didn't start. What do you guys think I should do from there? Here's a video of what we have so far. It's a painful 9 seconds to watch, but my friend couldn't unplug the jumper cable fast enough. This was our only attempt. (my battery is damn near dead, so we had to jump it)

If it has a dizzy or a timing control module, unplug a spark plug wire and put a flat head screwdriver just close enough to arc and then try and turn it to see if you have spark. If you see a lightning bolt, and you feel the shock - you got spark. Plug the spark plug wire back where it went. Now ensure the wires are in the correct order. Then see if it's getting fuel - disconnect the fuel lead to the fuel rail or wherever it goes to, let it hang over a cup. Have one person get in the car and turn the key to ON so the fuel pump goes - if fuel shoots out into the cup, you have fuel. IF NOTHING HAPPENS - then your fuel pump is dead or not working for some reason. Then undo all the intake shit so it is just the throttle body to open air. Now you know nothing is possibly obstructing it up to the throttle body. Try and start it again. If you have fuel/air/spark - you should be running. Any malfunction of the three is going to make it not run - find out which. For spark - check the timing - it could be so far off - or dizzy is installed wrong or bent - either will cause no start.
Okay! Thanks. I'll work on it tomorrow afternoon when I get home and i'll post an update.

He'd get back in, and it'd start. He always told me "It's because I had to teach the machine some respect. If the machine doesn't respect you it won't work" That truck ran two more years and he'd do the same thing every once in a while too. It always worked...
Started the process of putting a new top and fixing the interior (pulling that shit ass "carpet" up un-rusting the floorpans putting new properly fitting carpet in new black dash and seats) probably would of got more done today but it was fucking 109 today..... I keep failing to take pics when I work on stuff, I have a real problem with multi-tasking and remembering shit, fuck. Anyway, I did some work on a friend's 96 Laredo with the i6. His water pump bearings were shot to hades and it was shredding serpentine belts like a mulcher. He drove it to my house, parked it and a bit later I went to work on it. So, I find it parked right on the very edge of the road, "ok I'll move it". Start and NO POWER STEERING, fucking what? Get it moved and.... wheres the fucking belt?! This guy drove his jeep to my house with no accessories what-so-ever. I grabbed the fan and it wobbled like it was going to fall off, and the remains of the belt were wrapped around the crank and fan. 2 hour replacement and all is good, was just hot as hell, I have no covered anything to hide from the sun so I work in direct sunlight most times. 60bux get.
I work outside too. I feel your pain. I did a whole clutch swap on a car with a plastic tarp over it, outside, because it was raining and I had to get it done. The tarp was because rain literally missed every engine component and hit me in the eye laying under the car. I like to take pictures of everything and at least document it somewhere, because people always need help or a picture of what to do. Doesn't matter how simple - every little bit helps. But like you do, I forgot to take pictures of any of that clutch swap, and that would've been good info for Vibe and Matrix owners alike. Probably applied to the Corolla as well.
Blasted part of the bumper and ran out of sand, mounted it and painted it black (was supposed to be gloss but I grabbed the wrong can) since its better than flaking black with primer. Makes me feel like a shitty ricer but this'll do for now [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/8375463F-C62C-4F8D-9B4A-75AB310C4C6C_zps7cdbmsfk.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/90CEBF51-F0A0-451C-BBC7-1621E6864423_zps40ydbpap.jpg[/thumb] I got kinda a love/hate with this saleen kit, but the stock v6 bodied sn95 looks waaaay cooler, has really cool body lines than make it look sleek [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/FBE132E5-99E1-4853-B5CD-ECD6C9922B1E_zpsahig1oig.png[/thumb] Maybe I'll buy a nice one next summer, who knows! But I've definately grown some respect for the cars now.
