are those the engines that were in those two cars jeremy clarkson drove around the top gear track that were inspired by british and german fighter planes?
Not sure, I have not seen that episode. But I couldn't get out to the warehouse today. I need a new carseat for my son to drive over there. Probably tomorrow. It came straight from a Spitfire Mustang. Also, my motor looks 100X better than the one in the video. At least to me it does. It also had a price tag of $40,000. Luckily I didn't pay for it.
Epic. I think my 4.4 has plenty of power, hard to imagine an e38 with anything less. Glad to see you're getting up there :) Also about the intake runners - how much of a difference would they make on an M62? [editline]14th April 2013[/editline] I secretly want a supercharger :S
I probably wouldn't bother with a supercharger on an M62... improve everything you can elsewhere first, then see what state it's in. Being that the mechanics do most of your work, just the cost of replacing your timing chain guides if they go (only a matter of time sadly) would almost match throwing a supercharger on, and heaven forbid if the motor jumps timing while you're throttling the life out of it with a supercharger strapped to it hahaha. I prefer the 'passive' mods, that don't run too high a risk. Less gain, but less worry! The manifold upgrade would be an improvement even for your car - remember, the M62's were unfortunately slapped with the same smaller manifold that my B30 had. You should see some improvements across the board, though it's debatable as to whether you lose anything at the top end - everyone's got their own ideas. Generally though, everyone seems to agree that due to VANOS, you should see a nice improvement at lower speeds and the same or better around the top end. It's just one of those things that if you do ever have to pull your manifold or fuel injectors, it would really be worth doing this mod. Simple drop-in upgrade - grab a B40 manifold from the wreckers, get some intake manifold gaskets, and go for your life. It's also a fantastic time to inspect your cylinder ports to check their condition, and you'll get real intimate with the various devices all strapped to the top of your motor :)
Green monster
I see that color on a lot of motors. I'm quite fond of it. Is the black head to hide possible future oil leaks?
yeah...did some reading and it really wouldn't be worth it on the m62tu those who've done it say it has a difference at the top-end, and I never rev it up there anyway...I like to work the torque to get where I'm going, not the revs also, I'm not going to put a blower on it...it was a joke lol but yeah...they put a new timing chain tensioner on and told me that the timing chain guides are actually in pretty good shape, so I should be good on that front AND the whole job fixed the rough idle, as well as fixed the 40-50mph wheel wobble so other than the transmission, she's as healthy as can be...after the cooling system, all the front suspension bits, power steering, and this latest job

also my second master key is dead, driving around with it should charge it back up right?
Replaced the floor pan in the dart this weekend, just needs to be welded in and its all good.
also my second master key is dead, driving around with it should charge it back up right?
Assuming the battery in it isn't completely rooted (rare), then yes a few nice lengthy drives should sort it out. It's good that they put the new tensioner in, that part was actually redesigned since and it's far more effective and long lasting now. I would take their claim of the timing chains being 'in good shape' with a grain of salt though - not saying they're lying, just that short of removing them and seeing how brittle they really are, there's no way to know. They could start falling to bits in 5 minutes for all you know... it's the one thing I hate about M62's. Still, not as bad as those stupid Audi V8's! So I bought a Corolla KE-35 the other week. Had a lot of rust patches on it, started fixing them up tonight, need to let the ones I started dry overnight. It's going to take a while. Also, first post in this sub-forum.

For anyone curious, this is the dual-row timing chain setup on a 4.0L M60 motor. Heavenly by comparison; [t]http://i949.photobucket.com/albums/ad332/Toneblind83/530iT%20the%20swap/DSC06322.jpg[/t] Hard to find a pic of this... no one ever has to go screwing with the timing chain on an M60 hahaha. Here's the M62 - single row, big fat plastic guide carrying the whole thing around; [t]http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp105/BlackBMWs/540it%20-%20DIY%20M62TUB44%20Timing%20Chain/m62chains.jpg[/t] How we wound up with that Audi monster, I will never know. Valon, excellent work! It's funny when people watch shows like Wheeler Dealers and think you can just bung in a new floor pan in a matter of minutes haha, but that turned out real clean. What car was that done on again?
Thanks, its my 1967 Dodge Dart that I am cloning to a 1968. It is a lot of work, makes me wonder how on fast and loud they repaired a very rusty bronco in under a week, I'd like to see the quality of the work they can shit out. I guess stuff does fly when you have 3 people working on one thing with a lot of experience and more than 1 floor patch under their belt.
@siminov currently I am on a hunt for a truck turbo. going to junkyard right now. If I dont find one I might just hit you up lol

Shit face. I nerved up and tried to fix my A/C. Put 2 cans of shit in it, all leaked out almost instantly. Tomarrow I'm going to rip its fuckign face off it and figure out why the damn hoses that go to the radiator are leaking (their the only thing I believe would ever leak.) Now with all that said IS THEIR ANYTHING I FROGOT? [/sp]
Your car has more problems than my Blazer. I find this really hysterical.
This is true, but its not hysterical. All of my issues have came from deterioration of parts. Hell more than half of the problems is because of salt water and texas heat.
Is it your audi? It's what makes an audi an audi.
It is a mitsubishi TD04 13C with a volvo T3 flange, all you really need is the oil and coolant lines and a carter pin for the wastegate.
Welp, my friend Tim got around to ripping a turbo out of a Volvo. But I didn't have enough money for it. I should have told him that before he ripped it out. I feel like a dick now. Sometime or another I'll have $150 and it will be mine. Not today, but someday. We stashed it in a Bimmer
I relocated my alarm siren to inside my drivers side fender, cleaned up the shit ass wiring that the "professional" shop did. Cleaned out my IACV and sprayed down my intake mani a little for the hell of it. Car hardly started and the IACV refused to do it's job and stayed closed forcing it to run at base idle until I got back to the house after running errands and fingered the IACV hole in the throttle body until it worked properly again. Dunno, it's probably going out or something. Was gonna change my oil but I burnt up my spare time messing with the siren. I also have been messing with my girlfriend's brother's 84' BMW 318i with the M10 in it and Bosche L-Tronic. Dear god, how could you design a motor which ruins all it's sensors by pissing oil through the intake manifold... The TPS is considered to be a wear item which is routinely ruined by oil and "always" has oil in it. Even the MAF gets coated in oil and is a good 8-12" and a 90 degree elbow from the throttle body which is also on the bottom of the intake mani. Been plenty busy with it cleaning up work done by retards who think they are mechanics. Throttle cables held on by twist ties, random unplugged and improperly hooked up stuff, ect. Tons of fun, car has wheels with the wrong offset and had rattle canned taillights. Timing that motor is also the most mentally retarded thing I have ever seen in my life with a random ass hole in the bellhousing that is obstructed by the battery and a small dot on the flywheel that is impossible to find. Not only that but the crank pulley nut/bolt is a 30mm socket which I can't find for a decent price.

The day before it stopped working my radiator hose near my oil cooler broke, I unbolted the core support and swung it around to the passenger side like a door hinge. In the prosess I think I could have dungoofed the hoses going to the (condenser?). Gonna take it to a shop that has a vaccume pump and dump some dye in it to see whats up.
