Talking about broken down Eclipse's?
If y'all remember waaaaaaaay back in the good ol' days, I was gonna buy a 07 Mitsubishi Eclipse and be coool.
Untill it threw two timing belts and fucked up two sets of heads two different occasions using not one but TWO new of everything.
You can find it in some of my photos lingering in the background all broke n shit.
(I hate how far the dash is pushed up)
[editline]16th September 2014[/editline]
I have no motivation to even touch it.
Maybe to fix it and do lots of boost and blow up the motor in style.
Lol GD timing belts man.. Don't worry though, the 4g Eclipse is ugly as hell anywho :)

How does it ruin 2 timing belts? Seriously?
First one snapped, second one had an idler seize?

Na worse.
Spontaneous failure.
I don't even know man tell you the truth. The issue might have been because they were ebay kits...
That sounds about right. I don't trust ebay parts like that, only my "fancy" projector headlights. :downs:
accords headlamps are ebay , they don't fog and look great.
My headlights are fucking amazing, it's just them halogens that suck. Bright but still seem dim at night, prolly from all the assholes with high ass mud trucks and douche "racers" running their high beams all the time fucking blinding me.
Bought a starter, here's hoping its not a nightmare to install as a one man job with a single jack.
Depending on the car, it's either a breeze, or a nightmare. :v:

The book makes it seem easy, but I am extremely distrustful of anything that's been bolted onto a car for almost 30 years.

every bolt is rusted out
i recommend contacting WD40 on wholesale pallets of WD40
What's the car?

I don't think I have to worry about that at all actually, my car is pretty much rust-free everywhere I've looked. However, removing the alternator the first time was a several hour job because the main bolt had gone beyond being physically locked and had actually formed a spiritual bond with the rest of the engine block.

86 Camaro Z28.
The hardest part is maneuvering the huge ass starter past the exhaust. :P

Yeah I hear maneuvering it is a pain, but I also hear that the manual transmission starter is smaller than the automatic's, so hopefully it won't be a total nightmare.

You wanna wait till thursday, I think a couple of guys going to the meet on wensday night have that model camaro. I'll ask them if they replaced their starters and if it was tough
Old GM Rwd stuff is prettymuch cake to work on. I give you a beer/10 for the difficulty rating, dig in and enjoy.
Alright I stopped being a lazy cunt but I didn't care to compress the pictures so they're like 7MB
here it is in the door, you can see the window holdy thingy barely holding on with the original epoxy

and heres the old assembly, the grease on the springy thing was hella gross

In the last year I have replace 5 headlight bulbs on moms car.
One stock blew out so I replaced both with silverstar ultras. One lasted 3 months the other about a week longer. So they got normal silverstars. Then 4 months one blew so I replaced just one.
To change a low beam you have to either remove bumper of fender liner. Total pain.
So I ordered so oem xenon headlights. D2s projectors.
I removed the bumper

Then spent 3 hrs making a wiring harness and a few other things.
All buttoned back up.

Should last a little longer

Pb blaster you need a penatrating oil. Not water displacement test number 40. Aka fish oil.
I have GOT to figure out where the gremlin is in the electrical system of my mustang. None of my panel lights work, but they came on once or twice (then went off after a few minutes). I know where all of the buttons are (climate controls, defroster, TCS, etc...) but it's so much nicer when they are lit up.
I've also got to find out why my cruise control doesn't work. It doesn't even come on....
Helicoil... what a fucking nightmare. One of the threads for the rocker shaft was stripped out so I've been trying to fix it. I can't get the hole drilled out to even begin to tap it, either the bottom of it is made of an unfathomably hard metal or I am missing something here...

Rocker Shaft = stupidly high performance metal = requires more than just your average drill bit....
I'm not trying to drill through the shaft it's the threads in the head... and I thought a cobalt bit would do it but idk. Even pushing down on it super hard there is not a single shaving, it is doing absolutely nothing. I'm lost lol

You're still going to need some better bits and some oil (engine oil works fine. It's to keep the bit from overheating and becoming dull quicker). Get some bits specifically designed for metal.
Yeah this one I got is designed specifically "for hardened metal"
Some metals react to drilling by melting kind of. Try treating it like stainless steel. Super low RPM, high pressure.
Quality move of the day;
Drilled a hole in a battery.
$60 oopsie. :')
So technically day before yesterday I changed the starter in a friends 2000 couger v6, after waiting on touch of class AAA towing for 3 hours, fuckers.
Starter turned out to be fine, after wrestling with it for 15 or 20 mins, turns out it was the cable from the battery that had a bad connection causing the issue, then Technically yesterday I changed the short short power steering fitting tube which called for removing the intake, passenger motor mount, and every hose, tube, bolt and belt in the way.
Took 3 1/2 to 4 hours along with the sacrifice of blood and sweat. (I actually bled on the car) It's done and all is good.
Made 120 bucks to pay my phone and internet bill.

Check for a bad ground or a bad power wire.
Can't wait to get home and attempt to fix the mr2 again

I've taken the starter out of that thing so many times I might as well be in the olympics if they had a sport for it I swear
