Thanks for the long awaited update. I just read that thread and wondered what happened to it. Crazy that the dealership actually paid close to a grand to ship that piece of junk back to Washington. (So they can sell it again, probably). You never did tell us the name of the dealership? What is it?
It was called Shannon's Auto in Bremerton, but looking at the page the place looks way different, and the name of the dealers don't match. I'm guessing someone else owns it now. The car's also look a lot nicer in general and are more expensive. This guy didn't sell anything over $5,500 when I bought it. He catered to military people who just needed a thing to drive around while they were stationed there. I thought I did update with what happened, but then looking back at the thread I see I did not. It wasn't very long after the mechanic had it that they came and got it. They never called me or anything either, so I'm guessing they took their garbage and ran. I would not be surprised myself if they resold the car. Edit: I also remember after buying the car and looking at reviews they were not so positive. One guy claimed they stole the car he bought and put it back up for sale. What a world. 2nd edit: Yeah all I see now is positive reviews and only 1 negative one.
Installed the gauge oil pressure sender, was a bit suprised that my oil pressure was within spec when I got it hooked up. And went to install the gauge coolant temp sensor and realized rock auto lists the wrong part, and that I ordered the wrong part. Oh well.
Installed the gauge oil pressure sender, was a bit suprised that my oil pressure was within spec when I got it hooked up. And went to install the gauge coolant temp sensor and realized rock auto lists the wrong part, and that I ordered the wrong part. Oh well.
I don't use oil pressure sensors. I can tell I have oil pressure when the Dart springs a leak and blows oil all over the engine bay - then I know there is sufficient pressure.
I want to get a digital oil pressure gauge because every so often my oil light blinks but I need to get a T fitting to hook it in as the car will lose it's shit if I just swap out and the ECU has no info on oil pressure. A restart usually fixes it. Consequently, I found if I'm doing over 25 and shut the car off and turn it back on fast enough I can roll start it, don't even need to turn to start. Even for only 4 gears I love that MPZA.
I had to replace the alternator in my Saturn today. Took about an hour.
Did the drivers side engine mount on the VX today, took roughly an hour and ten or so minutes as opposed to the passenger side mount which was 35-40 minutes Man the drivers side mount is a cunt of a job, there isn't a universal method that anybody can use to do it, you need specialist tools :/ (ie a 15mm spanner with some particular bends or or or a sliced 15mm stubby spanner and a lever bar, but I wasn't going to mutilate my only 15mm spanner, even if I did it wouldn't fit because the ring was too fat) Anyway, no vibrations anymore wooo! It used to vibrate real bad on both old mounts cos the sump was resting on k-frame
Went and bought some rear leather seats for the Saab today, struggled to get the two left seats out, while trying to not to fall into the mud that surrounded the car. Turns out the guy I bought it from had also installed ventilated seats in his car, so he's going to email me the schematic for them.
Was going to put the front coilovers on today, but now that the rears have settled, I can't fit the low pro floorjack under the car far enough in to reach the jack point on the front chassis brace. I'll have to use a lift to get those guys installed.
40% of the backseats are in! [t]http://i.imgur.com/J2J2JIo.jpg[/t]
I was tryign my best not to stereotype my PO for being bad at car maintenance because he was mexican but my 240z has TWO FUCKING SEAT RAILS and the door handle spring has a 4 inch coil spring instead of a 1cm return spring. Also none of the bolts are even tight. wat the fuck the teardown begins
Your parole officer works on your car?
Previous owner. There's some repairs he made that make no sense at all.
I've had to do things like that out of shear necessity, fixed it proper shortly after. Such as my driver window cable snapping and having to put vice grips on the rail to keep the window up to avoid rain, or using clear tape on a headlamp housing because the glass was all broken out. That last one is a bit redneckish, but you make due when needed.
I can sorta understand that, but this was professionaly spot welded in and everything, im talking about the front (left in pic) support rail, theres a new one welded directly in front of it. Heres a pic with only one
Got another Cavalier to paint.. Only the front clip this time, though. Good thing.. gotta beat the snow :o
I finished putting on my new rotors/pads on the rear today. I now have all new ceramic pads and shiny (and painted black non shiny bits) rotors. [img_thumb]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/v/t1.0-9/65548_916903891672833_7983668156229978814_n.jpg?oh=9c7da011a5f0673f693854d13800d7f7&oe=54DF4616&__gda__=1424363387_cf681b1602592391b5fc0a068cda69da[/img_thumb] Front right all done. All that speckly brownish stuff is my old front right rotor shedding its rust skin, they were soooo bad. The rears were even worse, it was starting to rust away the braking surface lol. pads looked fine, guess salt/chemicals do not affect them as much. Only stripped one screw I'm replacing tomorrow-ish. 3 of the rotors are from rockauto, the fourth was a lemon which made HORRIFIC noises and squeaks lol, took it to a shop and he said it was warped, replaced it because I had to drive to work. Time to make angry emails. Also this is like the first major mechanical car related thing I've done (even though it was a total of 4 bolts and 2 screws) and I was quite pleased with myself. :)
Image dump tiem So, some recent stuffs I've done starting with a 99 Blazer. Water pump replacement, took about an hour and a half total. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/FPCmzBN.jpg[/thumb] And removed the fan... [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/PfddofB.jpg[/thumb] ...with just these. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/kz7e253.jpg[/thumb] With total success, the pump developed a pinhole at the back due to manufacture defect. Then on my car I decided I wanted moar sound, So I Got speakerz. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/QwRxqsb.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/uTMhSfJ.jpg[/thumb] Well theres a hole... [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/LDp3I4W.jpg[/thumb] No hole saw, had to improvise... [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/8YnT5mV.jpg[/thumb] Success! [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/7lFcslJ.jpg[/thumb] Finished product on the other door, as I was on that side when I remembered to snap a shot. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/7QnSNsG.jpg[/thumb] Then ran the wire and hooked up my old PPI 4250 4ch amp. Realized it had an issue (near muted left channel, the full, low pass and high pass switch was buggard), fixed it then hooked it back up. Sounds fucking good man. Next I'm gonna try and find a place to put the 300w amp that was running the front speakers in the back to run those, after I make some proper buckets out of Starboard. I'm gonna need a router for that.
Today while checking my fluids I noticed that there's about 1 litre of oil missing from my engine, there's no blue smoke coming from the exhaust, none in the coolant and no drips or puddles under the car. I dunno where the fuck it went. I last checked about a month ago and the oil showed full, now it's just on the empty marker. Levels were checked after the car had sat overnight.

Yea, I've got the same thing with my CorriZm. Older engine just burn a little.. if it's bad enough to be blue exhaust that's bad, but if it's only burning a quart every 1000 miles or so, just feed it.
Got my extra lights hooked up on sunday [t]http://puu.sh/ctQeB.jpg[/t] Looks like it's got running mascara down its face because of dirt from the windshield :v:
Fresh Subaru graphics that I did last night! It looks pretty cool aside from the huge side door graphic. Something about it just screams rice/too fast too furious/year 2000. Maybe if it with livery for a team grip car/rally then maybe. [t]http://i.imgur.com/QzsREGu.jpg[/t] Got tired of trying to use old injectors for my daily. Some of them are stuck open/closed or just plain vomiting gas. Ordered a new one from mom pop shop $45. That's OE Nissan too and it amazes me that they're cheaper than major chains like Napa/Autozone/Advanced/Oreilly. Small business ftw
Cav pics as promised. Quick and cheap.. rest of the car was in rough shape, just wanted it blue. Friday night went ham Then did some stuff between then and today.. and today I sprayed paint! I'll give you what's left on my Tim Hortons gift card to paint my Cavalier. pls. I always end up doing a shitty job fixing the fender rust because I don't have the time or tools to do it right. I can only take my daily driver out of commision for so long, so I'll probably just let the bitch rust.
Destroyed a transmission tonight. One that I had for sale since two years. No uses for me. So completely tore it apart, picked up some stuff I could sell, threw the rest away. Glad I didn't sell it, 4th/overdrive hub splines were grinded, so it basically had no overdrive. Did save the HD Diff, heard they were still worth 100-200$ with the case. Might make some lunch money, at least I can ship that unlike the whole trans. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Xo0KnMg.jpg?1[/t]
Boom! Just needs a wash and maybe a little polish, but the dude who's detailing the interior said he'll deal with that
Its done. The water pump has been replaced. I didnt take a lot of photos because this process took 5 hours to do. I now know why people bring their vehicle in to get this done. It sucked. It doenst help that the previous owners neglected this Blazer besides the oil changes and rear balljoints. - The radiator drain hose was MIA so I had to improvise. - The old pump's gaskets were seized onto the block, not the pump. Instead of sitting there scraping them off till the cows came home I took a drill and a grinding bit to it. Made the work easy and removed all the particulates. - The hoses on the old pump were seized on. - Coolant everywhere (mostly my fault. Was not expecting so much to go all over) Got the new pump in. - Screened the old coolant before re-adding it back into the system. Caught a lot of debris. Put most of it back together, checked for leaks. Found none yet. I hope I dont have to do this again. Fuck this. If someone else wants me to help them on their water pump I'm going to charge them.
Well I did warn ya about the coolant, and at least the lower hose.
The hoses didnt spill much at all. The drain from the radiator did an exceptional job. Breaking the seal on the pump is what spewed it everywhere. That special wrench you talked about? I wish I had it. The nut was bigger than 1" so I improvised and used a pipe wrench. Overall, a good experience to learn how to replace it.
