Set out to get my alarm and door actuators installed today, instead we got the siren mounted, interior ripped apart and then spent 6+ hours trying to make door actuators work in a door with fuck all room. I finally massaged the drivers actuator in place above the garbage door mounted seatbelt with enough room for the piston to go in and out without contacting the panel but the rod is now being pinched by the door panel because there is literally no room behind the panels. I have no idea the nightmareish job that alarm/keyless installers did back in the day on these poor little cars. Tomorrow I'm setting out with a big fucking hammer and I'm gonna make it fit.
I also found out today that half of my "dash" is actually the vent channel and there's actually very very little to no extra space inside/under the dash in these cars. I can actually see the heater core through the vent selector plain as day behind the center vents. The clock is actually inside the vents. These EF Civics are built with as very little intrusion into the passenger area as possible. It's quite awesome to hop in a 600lbs and decent bit smaller car but have even more open space in all directions with the exception of the front seats being mounted slightly closer together. If only they made more cars like this but with more modern refinement and sound deadening.
I got this far today..

Pulling wires into the door isn't any fun, either. :( Or the hatch. Gross.. being a 90s installer must've been 'the life'.
more crap

Found this ammo box in my garage, my fuse box thing fits in it perfect so I pulled the battery since im relocating it anyways and will hide the fuse box in it since we dropped the engine on my nice fuse box a while ago lol.

I started putting a six cylinder in my friends old Pontiac

I managed to lower in the engine but it dented the firewall, I also have to space it to make room for when the hood is shut, I also need find matching headers for it.

I have to start pretty much from scratch considering my friends Pontiac has no front or rear brakes and drive shaft was stolen

You mean color wise?
The only ones I've seen in decent quality with color options are Rally Armor(sp) but those cost about 3x what I have invested in these.
Beginning to polish my rims on my 240 that has G35 rims, going to look sweet when they are finished. Sanding takes forever by hand to get it down to bare metal after paint stripper, but I can deal with it.

I'll have to post how I did it when I finish up the doors soon, it involved playing thread the needle through the frame and trying to make it through into the light, twisting a bunch of wires to that wire and pulling the actuator wires through. Oh and doing it again because I'm an idiot and forgot to put the damn rubber sheath over the wires first. I feel so sorry for people paid to do actuators, getting the wires through the boot in the door was half as hard and actually running the wires through the proper hole would have been way more annoying with removing the fenders just to do it in the "normal" and not my half ass way.
Yesterday I got my anchor brand motor mount/ transmission in For my mazda 3i. I've already replaced the rEar motor mount with one from an electric focus. And I still had a clank on start and sometime it would bind and make it hard to shift out of first.
To get to the mount I had to remove the Air box, areo sheild, battery, and ecu. Took me about an hour.
No more clunk and shifts so much better.
The oem trans mount was stamped fomoco. So another ford part placed.
I fixed my Subaru
...by taking the gas cap off because there's so much vacuum in the tank which is the reason why it wouldn't start. So I'm just gonna drill a tiny hole in the gas cap but for now I drive without the cap at all.
My mom invited me and my sister to eat at her place tomorrow, so I'm gonna drill the cap at my dad's place on my way back home.

Gas tanks require pressure so they don't explode. Pressurized gas fumes are hard to ignite, which is the reason for this.
Normally expanding fumes give the tank pressure, but if there is a vacuum in the tank that tells me it's not venting right and the return, if equipped, is blocked.
Don't go drilling holes in your tank anywhere, it promotes a serious hazard, as drilling a hole in your gas cap is going to let fumes out and if no one is aware, they might ignite it by accident. like someone walking by who smokes who has a lit or is lighting a cigarette.
Not saying it WILL happen, but you can't predict what people will do or what will happen when your not around your car.
Rather not hear news of a crispy desu.
The cap has two pressure release holes in it originally but they're not doing their job and I'm pretty sure driving with a 1mm hole in the cap is safer than driving with no cap at all
You could also just replace the cap because it's a wear item
Just get a new cap, your old one probably had the pressure releases seize.
Pistons are in whoo! Hello complete rotating assembly.

seems like a nice learning experience.

I'm gonna, but you know, unusual car and it's a Subaru so it's gonna cost way more than it's worth :v:
I got some money from Christmas, and usually I spend all my extra money on other people but Girlfriend noticed I haven't showed the car love lately, and I agreed. I went and bought myself a brand new Buffer to replace my random orbital that sucked. This car has never been cut, and never buffed. I was afraid to because the paint was thin in some areas and some of it was not mixed when shot (metallic) but I bit the bullet and tried it anyway. I went for the lower quarters first just to see if there was enough paint to work with or if I was just going to shave it all off. I hit it with some really fine wet sand and then buffed it. The results were awesome, so I went for a piece that's been bothering me since I did it. This is where I accidentally slapped my keys across the rear right quarter.
I managed to get it out and the paint around it looks great - now i don't have to frown at myself for it anymore. Left before shot you can see it directly north of the marker light.

Afterwards I worked most of the trunk, got the trunk lid forward of the stripe, and the top of the fenders, and after that realized I spent 2 hours and had to call it quits for the day. You can almost see a line where I stopped if you look down the side of the quarter panel and how different it is than the top. Now i get to rewash it tomorrow and I'm going to keep working forward. Hopefully can get the whole thing done in a few days. There's some paint runs that I've been eying for a long time and want to get rid of - now's the time.
Then when the rains subside I'm buying a brand new carpet, and new dashpad, and I have some choice african Mahogany that I am refinishing the dash, and all 4 door panels with. I will finally be able to fix the interior now that I finished the go-fast bits. I'm still debating what color carpet because I can get literally any color i want made for it for $150. Neon colors cost more. I'm really swinging towards dark grey, or burnt orange/ bronze like the outside (think blue cars with blue interior same idea). I don't like the black carpet because it just looks like a big field of nothingness and disappears under the dash making everything look like a singularity. The carpet I have is temporary recycled stuff from Autozone or something. It lasted about 2 years but is now falling apart.

$45 an injector, it wasn't that cheap of a fix. Now I have all four new ones instead of just two. Works perfectly....for now.

Also replaced my dome light with like a 50-LED panel board replacement from eBay. $2 shipped to my door and beats the dinky bulb that was there before.

That shit is bright yo. I made mine out of a strip chopped in three and wired in parallel, then stuck to the lens.
It's pretty damn bright, but not solar flair bright.
changed the fuel pump in the block on my powerstroke. I decided I didn't want to remove the turbo so when removing the fuel pump shaft broke, and I forgot that I had to turn the motor so the cam lobe was lowered to install the pump.
that being said, now the motor gets the right amount of fuel.
Today I fixed a broken fender and broken quarter panel on my Saturn. It now has ZERO broken body panels! The bad news is, when it gets warmer, there are 4 panels that are going to need a serious polish job to look like the rest of the car.
The quarter panel had been busted right in the center by a deer. The previous owner took the broken piece, duct taped it back into place from the inside, then filled the entire cavity between the panel and the actual chassis with SPRAY FOAM. As in, home insulation spray foam. At least two entire cans of the stuff. I had to dig out a shitton of foam just to get the bolts loose to take the panel off.
Seriously, guys, if your plasic body panel breaks, just go to a yard and get a new one. Do not fill the entire ass end of your car with spray foam. Or any part of your car.

Sound deadening on the cheap yo.
Sound deadening on the cheap yo.
I think his thinking was it would provide some rigidity and keep the broken piece from falling out.
Then he bondo'd the outside, taped it off, and sprayed it with a rattlecan. :suicide:
