Bought a rare compass pack and cleaned it up; [thumb]http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff136/fcfordlord/C360_2013-05-22-14-57-17-176_zps0fce8a9c.jpg[/thumb] I decided i didnt want to mess with wiring, so i went and bought a DIN pocket and installed it with that in it; [thumb]http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff136/fcfordlord/C360_2013-05-22-19-29-24-093_zps70b0b00c.jpg[/thumb] Look in the pics of your cars thread for more
Does it work?
Does it work?
I havent been able to test it yet. Trying to think of how i can without harming the harness. Ive got the compass and nearly all the wiring. the only thing missing is the temperature sensor and the plug that goes with it. Someone cut off the very last part of that wiring near the plug, but i grabbed it anyways since they dont charge for wiring
If you really wanted to, could you get one of those din gauge mounts and just use it as a custom gauge pod?
Fixed my shift boot! (that plastic part the metal is covering was to hold the boot in but it was worn down
I believe he mentioned that the tape part doesn't work right, otherwise the adapter would've been my first suggestion.
correct
often it's the motor (or the rubber band connecting the motor for) driving the tape media around that craps out first. Although that would require disassembly of the headunit.
I push the tape in, it makes some whirring noises, kind of feels like it jerks the tape (maybe a jam?). Two nights ago I took the faceplate off to get a closer look, and a small piece of plastic fell out. Doesn't look like its broken, just fell out. At this point, there is a $20 kenwood adapter for the aftermarket radio that came with the car for aux hook in. I REALLY want to keep the stock radio as it matches the car so well. Another option thats a little spendier is an aux->fm/am antenna cord.
If you really wanted to, could you get one of those din gauge mounts and just use it as a custom gauge pod?
I could, i thought about doing that. I do like having storage up there though
I changed the rear brake shoes on the Beetle yesterday. They didn't look that bad until i kinda... touched one: [t]http://puu.sh/2ZkCj[/t] Also straightened the steering wheel. It's strange having good brakes and a steering wheel and actually points where you're going.
get disc brakes instead.
get disc brakes instead.
No need for that. I can easily lock all four wheels on dry asphalt
No need for that. I can easily lock all four wheels on dry asphalt
Indeed. Only time disk brakes are permitted IMO is if you are going with a 1800cc or above. And half of the "kits" are cheap shit. Also Ldesu do you have a Mid America Motor works mag? http://www.mamotorworkstv.com/vw/requests/catalog/ They have evvvvvvvvery thing. [editline]fgjnfgp[/editline] Plus you can be a cool kid and lounge around and look at a mag all day!
1) any brakes will lock up your wheels, its size that matters in terms of stopping power while keeping the wheel moving 2) disk brakes are better than drums always, engine size irrelevant [editline]23rd May 2013[/editline] hello page king i put 2000 miles on my car in the last 2 weeks idk if thats what i worked on but its what i did
I HERE BY RULE OUT THE LATER PART OF NUMBER 2! Seriously tho if you have a bigger engine you need more stopping power. Your going to end up pushing your speed further than you could with the regular engine and thus put more strain on your brake shoes. And in this case the "disk brakes" are some no name cheap china shit. Hell I would trust brembo more because they at least stop you. [sp]When you hit a tree.[/sp] ^ Were did that sentence come from.... Fuck guys I need to sleep. I've been getting 2hr's rest almost ever night for the last 2 weeks. I need to go wrench on something...
1) any brakes will lock up your wheels, its size that matters in terms of stopping power while keeping the wheel moving 2) disk brakes are better than drums always, engine size irrelevant
I honestly don't give a shit. I've got plenty braking power and don't need any more. I know that disks are better than drums but I really don't need better brakes
If you're driving fast enough in a Beetle to warrant disk brakes, then holy shit you're a maniac. [editline]ad[/editline] LOOK MOM, NO WIRES!! [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/CameraZOOM-20130523170802095.jpg[/t] [SUP][SUP]Finally finished shoehorning that bluetooth module into the radio.[/SUP][/SUP]

got Tar-Ox 6s and volvo 850 discs in the rear on my bug and it works really awesome but it's a requirement for what I'm bulding since I want to get the car registered with a bigger woodburner.

Opened my radio up, I cant find the jam for the life of me, the left side just will not slide back more than a half cm. [t]http://i.imgur.com/6ZmvXBl.jpg[/t]

If so I had one of the little rubber rollers break in my headunit, it was sitting cockeyed in the hole and keeping everything from moving.

The servo was right below the rainbow ribbon cable, where the jammed gears (should be) are located. That link is great information though, but my cassette will not drop down, meaning it never thinks a tape is truely inside. If I can find the sensor that reads that a tape is fully in, I could use that method. [editline]25th May 2013[/editline]
cassette ejection problem? Mine won't move all the way back, which means it wont drop down. You can hear the servos whirring, and it does move a little, but there is some sort of nasty jam

In theory you could replace that with a toggle switch mounted on the front panel, along with piggypacking in aux wires on the connector where the tape read head is mounted.

I am fairly certain its the yellow and orange wires that create the soft on switch. If that is the case, then all I would need to do is have a switch inbetween those two pins on the small circuit board, and not even need the cassette player in the stereo
Brake job today. Went smoothly, cept' for a boot for the slide bolt was torn so the slide bolt corroded it self to the bracket and snapped when i tried to unscrew it. Need to buy a new Caliper bracket on monday. Raged at the shitty wiring modifications the previous owner did, and then fixed the worst of it so the stereo actually worked somewhat normally. Anyone got a wiring diagram for a VW Passat 35i ?? (pre-facelift model with SB engine to be precise)

ONE ASS UGLY MOTHERFUCKER that would make a lovely sleeper. Hell its almost ready for a VR6 swap. Anyways I wish I could help you with the wiring diagram I wish my Alldata and Bently account would work :(

Added some steel braided lines I had lying around to the mustang. Dropped the trans, clutch and flywheel look brand new. When I was pulling the trans out it fell off the jack and broke a tab so now I have to buy a new trans (fuck). We ran the engine with just the flywheel and it sounded fine, no vibrations, so the culprit was either the clutch (taking it into be to balanced) or the trans.
maybe you needed a new transmission anyways. :v:
Got my adjustible koni rear shocks installed along with my big yellow sway bar and some rear wheel spacers, 5mm i believe. That was the first time I ever did it and so far I think it went really well!
