Mounted the lip on the BMW today! And now that that's out of the way.. on to a Civic hatch for bodywork and paint. The good news it it's my friend's car, and he's helping, PLUS like two or three other of our friends! We started last night and like 80% of the car is sanded. There's not much rust.. but I cut out what's rusty anywho. Not shabby. Gonna be white with blue ice pearl over it.. just like my JDprizM, but blue sparklies instead of red
Thats gangster. I got Orion Predator V2 coming in a few days.. hopefully tommorrow.. as well as HID XENON projector kit for ze foglights.. :D
The window trim and mirrors
I would have just sanded everything down and sprayed with automotive paint. Plastidip would peel after a while. That tail light bracket thing is a good idea. I'll do that for my Nissan to get that Datsun look
I would have just sanded everything down and sprayed with automotive paint. Plastidip would peel after a while.
Yeah I'd never tried plastidip before so I just thought I'd give it a shot... I just like that if I don't like it or I fuck it up I can just take it off. I'm always hesitant to do something more permanent like actually painting them, lol. I actually did repaint my mirrors a few years ago and half of it has worn off, I dunno if it was because of the rattle can clear coat I used or what but it didn't last very long.
That tail light bracket thing is a good idea. I'll do that for my Nissan to get that Datsun look
not sure if directed at me or not...
7 color LEDs man!
Then make 'em white?
Then make 'em white?
P. sure they're just called "angel eyes" then. Traditionally made with CCFL's, but also starting to pop up here & there with led's That said, anything but clear white or warm white looks incredibly awful, and is also P. illegal.
Make them legal, go for a drive, park it, and make them green.
Make them legal, go for a drive, park it, and make them green.
AFAIK lights that are color changing (even on-demand) are per-default illegal. Fixed color lights are legal though, as long as they're emitting light in the color range allowed.
AFAIK lights that are color changing (even on-demand) are per-default illegal. Fixed color lights are legal though, as long as they're emitting light in the color range allowed.
So...they're only illegal if you're caught right?
So...they're only illegal if you're caught right?
Always illegal. Since they're potentially distracting. Unless you're only on private property when they're mounted, in that case you could make your car into a mobile rave party..

The only allowed colors are white, amber, green and purple. Any other color is a big ass no no. [editline]14th June 2013[/editline] What happens when you over tighten the bolt for the crank position sensor on a honda v6? This: Got a replacement for 25 bux.
Probably going to relocate my knock sensor today. I think these past few days, my timing was pulled for some reason. Supposedly on 200k+ mile Subaru's, the knock sensor starts picking up engine noise that isnt knock and pulls timing Woops, power steering cap wasnt on all the way. Leaned on it while relocating the knock sensor and noticed it was wobbly. Turns out theres two sets of notches. If you dont push it down all the way, it only engages the first set. Havent driven it yet, hopefully things will be better
$23 modification and maintenance today. Went to local automotive store and asked for 10ft of heater hose @5/8 and two gallons of premix. Took about 2 hours, decided to drain and flush the radiator with a hose. I like to drain it out and then dump a hose into it until you decide that you could possibly drink the stuff coming out the bottom. Surprisingly, wasn't bad. Lots of buildup on the nipples for the hoses, but nothing out of the ordinary. The way the old hoses draped over the VC was kind of silly looking and did make the cover hard to remove. A lot of people on here also suggested they need a rerout. I've seen a lot of people move them over to the fender, so that's what I did. It's a very smooth looking mod, but the hoses themselves now just look like some kind of add-on. I know you can run them into the wheel well, and then back out, but don't necessarily like that idea. I also don't want to run them down below the plug wires because then they would hug the block. I guess I'll just be happy with this till I can figure out some option that moves them closer in and looks neat. Or just leave it at that?

Other than that, my only idea is running them down near the top of that strut/shock
new rad in new fan temp sensor in no hoses or anythin connected yet SO close to being done
Found out today why my ABS and SRS lights are on. The ABS issue is that the motor is dead, easy fix, just replace the unit. The SRS issues are codes 5-1, intermittent failure meaning the thermal fuse (internal) is blown for some reason and 1-1, open short on drivers airbag. According to that code it means the drivers airbag is not even plugged in. A friend of mine thinks the system was set off, but theres no codes saying either airbag has been deployed and there are codes for that, I checked. Who thinks these things are worth fixing or figure "fuck it"?
Has the SRS light always been on or something? Could have been triggered when the airbags were removed for whatever reason and it just hasn't been reset.
As far as the ABS, i wouldnt bother fixing it right away. I had issues with my ABS (kicking on for no reason under even light braking) I pulled the ABS fuse and the bulb, and ive enjoyed much better braking ever sense then
Has the SRS light always been on or something? The code 5-1, acquired by shorting the blue connector just under the glove box, says that the internal thermal fuse is blown and the unit needs to be replaced. I've never messed with the airbags personally.
As far as the ABS, i wouldnt bother fixing it right away. Speaking of that, the new one (40 amp) is already blown. The ABS code literally says "ABS Motor", I assume it's seized or something.
You also have to remember the bosch abs module might also not be getting power due to a comment defect in the soldering joints... I sent mine in for a 120$ reman and it came back working flawless.
Mine might be a Denso, most of the stuff on the car is. brb, checking... Edit: It.... doesn't seem to even have a name.... All I could find was something like findalex or andalex or sumshit...
Airbags didn't work in my oldass corolla. "accidentally" crashed it through a fence the day before I took it to the scrapper :v: (with the front lights and side mirrors removed before making that car sized hole in the fence.)
Just remade my intake, it was ugly with the oem accordion elbow, plus the elbow was somehow melted under where it meets the throttle body. Before ; 16$ After;
Mmmm, Hot-air intake.
I like HAI much better than CAI or FWI, it's cleaner, safer from water and the blower is hot in all cases anyways, so FWI or CAI changes nothing on such set up. The air gets compressed and heated right ontop of the engine. Dyno sheets shows that on these engines, the cheapest of the HAI performs better than any overpriced CAI there is. May not be true for all engines, but for this one it is. The only gain from such a mod is to hear the blower whine out loud! And to me, that's the best mod.

Stills sounds better with a lid flip on my intake though.

Since I'm broke until Thursday I decided I would clean the interior of my Cherokee. I just need to soak some of the plastic bits in CLR or some solvent to get water stains and such off.
