Going to the scrapyard on my lunchbreak to look for more junkparts to slap onto the volvo. Will post our findings later :v: Edit: No dice today, couldn't find anything of use. Gotta spend more hours there.

Will it be the end of the world if I take my thermostat off and put it back on without changing the gasket? I'm changing the coolant and wanna flush the engine block. Owners manual advises a new gasket.

If your gasket is in a relatively good condition then no problem. Just change it imo
So i discovered something about my new wheels and tires. The original set was p205/60R15, 2 of which are 65s instead of 60s, ok, no big deal. The new set with the fancy rims are the same diameter as the 60s. Two of those are 205/40R17 on the driver side and 205/40ZR17 on the passenger side. My speedo is off by about 3 mph so I need to get 205/45R17s when I need new tires. Also, the Z tires are 50 psi while the non-Zs are 44. Are the Z tires higher quality or something?
Also, the Z tires are 50 psi while the non-Zs are 44. Are the Z tires higher quality or something?
Im hoping im reading this wrong and you're not inflating your tires to the max sidewall psi
Im hoping im reading this wrong and you're not inflating your tires to the max sidewall psi
What? Why?
What? Why?
You don't inflate tires to maximum sidewall pressure, or tire pressure. You inflate to vehicle recommended inflation, more or less. If your tires are 70 psi, don't inflate to 70psi, the car sticker probably recommends between 26 and 36 psi.

Also for heat expansion as well. Follow your car specifications, not the tire max on the sidewall lol The night went from "hey you can have these Corvette MSD wires; if you put them on right now!" to "oh shit, fuck, let me get my pliers! That piece of wire is not supposed to be stuck on the plug! Oh well, now you really have to keep these lol" USDM tyte yo
Got this bugger back together after paint! Why did you coat your camera in butter before taking pictures? Anyways here's what I did. The drivers side rear cab corner area of my truck was completely gone. It made it so I could barely close the door properly without throwing it and saying a prayer as it closed. And when I mean gone I mean... [t]https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/1005608_192283720937020_1424463012_n.jpg[/t] Yeah. Soooo then this happened. [t]https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/1016165_192330717598987_1968167391_n.jpg[/t] And we did a little more welding to it tonight. Doing the rest tomorrow and then figuring out my situation with the windshield wipers. If the fuse is in, they go full blast, even if the switch is off.
your feels when my F-250 from 1970 has rust that is about the same as your F-150 from the 90's?
your feels when my F-250 from 1970 has rust that is about the same as your F-150 from the 90's?
If your F-250 was 3 years newer I'd be begging you to trade me. I want a 73-79 so bad. But yeah. Fuck New York State. There's nothing good about this state at all. Moving ASAP.
Worked on my RC crawler today. Gathered the parts, got it running. Glad to see the belts all survived. Gonna have to beef up the front knuckles, look into the steering box some. I had converted it to a 6x6, but back then i wasnt good at designing parts so it wasnt the best. I undid the 6x6 conversion, put the good tires on the truck, and got it back to a good 4x4. You can see the extra rear axle on the far left in this pic; [t]http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/5993/mci1.jpg[/t] I like this truck a lot. Its 1/6 scale, has a big lead acid battery (one charge=2+hours of driving) Only issue is steering, and when i was younger i took out the high/low motor in the axles to save weight (locked both axles in low) Also, during moving it down, a wheel broke; [t]http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/6384/07rb.jpg[/t] Still seems to hold air though.
I never had one of those as a kid... Just one of those things I'm gonna get my kids into early on I guess :v:
I never had one of those as a kid... Just one of those things I'm gonna get my kids into early on I guess :v:
Ive had two of these, a couple radio shack ones that were okay. Other than that i just had cheapo ones. I think ive had this crawler for 3 1/2+ years now, and it was the second to last one i bought. The last RC i bought was the Scorpian version of this crawler, but i took it apart for the 6x6 project
Passage is more or less 5 grand away from being finished... Fucking excited Next step is good LSD, front coilovers rebuilt, a wheel alignment and a good service...
Technically this wasn't today, but I finally went and got brand spankin' new Wrangler Radials on my 94 Grand Cherokee. It looks so much better now and it drives even better. I literally had no tread left on the previous tires. I also went and got my emissions done. I was so anxious because the previous test the owner had done in April failed miserably; however, I passed with flying colors. I don't know what made me pass; maybe it was the Seafoam treatment; maybe the sealing of the valve cover and the changing of icky oil; hell, maybe it was sheer dumb luck. The testing guy was highly surprised and happy to see how well I did.
Just noticed while looking at the MOT I had a few months back, it says the nearside rear coil spring was broken, and that it was fixed. But looking at my car it has a new offside rear coil spring and the same old rusty nearside one. First of all, they both should have been replaced, second, the didn't even get the right one in the first place. [editline]8th July 2013[/editline] Looking at how easy they are to replace I'm just going to do them myself from now on.

You only need a spring compressor and a few tools.
Not even a spring compressor for the rear ones, the shock is separate. The ability to use a jack and undo a bolt is needed. Tension of the spring is released using the jack under the trailing arm.
I buffed and waxed my 02 C2 Cougar. Got most of the surface scratches out. Pretty good considering I got it the other day in abysmal condition. [t]http://i.imgur.com/dmhqb5B.jpg[/t]
was gonna do my o2 sensor and headlights, played a nice game of turn the alarm off and sleep until 4pm instead.
I hate it when that happens.
If I didn't have to get up for an Interview tomorrow, I would probably still be asleep for another 2-4 hours. Got sick the other day, and slept in, and that just fucked things up.
I hate sleeping in when i've got a ton of shit to work on. But sometimes I just can't help it...
Finally got my backlist of things to do to my car done and pretty much the whole box of parts knocked out. Replaced inner and outer tie rods and bellows boots. Replaced the horrible front camber kits with new stock upper control arms. Removed the shit H&R Sport Springs/Junk2 Sport Shocks and put in used stock JDM ITR struts and swapped out the rear lower control arms for the ITR style. Replaced the rear swaybar end links. Painted and polished the ITR muffler I picked up last weekend and tossed it on. The Type-R muffler was definitely the best $40 + a can of high temp gloss black I've spent on the car, sounds dead on stock apart from a slight note at idle. 1-3k sounds pretty much stock, 3-5 gives off a solid smooth note unlike you ever hear on a Honda and 5k+ screams just like it should but as quiet as you want a street car. The sound is literally the perfect companion to the intake noise and is literally like the exhaust that the car really deserves. Honda definitely knows best when it comes to their cars, the suspension and the exhaust are really the best you can get without any compromise and is arguably the best. I could only imagine what it sounds like cranked out to 9k on the bigger vtec lobe. Tomorrow I'm taking it down to the alignment shop to have a nice alignment busted out and the stupid brand new calipers fixed that I just put on which are rubbing and making horrible noises at speed. I hate brakes, I have never had a single thing go correctly with them and I just can't handle dealing with the issues which they constantly have. Now I just need front swaybar bushings/endlinks, new front lcas and bushings, lower ball joint, ITR rear sway bar/22mm bushings, an ASR subframe brace and my suspension will literally be solid as hell!
