Shit Tyrone. Get it together.
Alright. I see I was a little over my head with forced induction. Esp. after talking to brad about it.
There's a hell of a lot to think about when planning out a turbo setup, be sure to look up how people have been doing it in your specific application. You're not going to be fabricating up your own turbo kit and every car has specific size restraints. It's quite easy to turbo a car but working out every kink with it is murder. You'll then have to deal with the oil/coolant which is routed through the turbo which is going to jack both of those temps skyhigh. You'll definitely need some sort of cooling upgrade and an oil cooler wouldn't be a bad idea as well as a gauges for oil temp, coolant temp and oil pressure because these are now 100% vital and extremely unforgiving. I'd also suggest researching a lot into what the DSM, Honda, SRT4 and other communities have been doing and possibly take some ideas and knowledge from them as I've seen a lot of incorrect information and rather illogical info being passed around as correct in some communities where performance mods/FI isn't as common. It's definitely a hurdle, but only will be so much more satisfying. I don't think your GTO would be seeing daily duty so if and when something were to go wrong with the FI it doesn't hurt you in the way that you're stranded til it's fixed. Besides, owning a turbo'd GTO sounds pretty damn cool. [editline]8th March 2013[/editline] There's also engine management, you can't just use a stock ECU on it and everything magically work. You'll have to have an ECU which can be tuned and you'll also need someone to tune it, you'll also need a wideband o2 to read the fuel/air mixture too.
Redesigned the exhaust. Gonna stick with NA until we decide to get a twin-turbo kit.
Started the van up this morning to go to work and there was a ticking noise to it. Instantly shut it off, went inside and had my dad take me to work in the Burban. Come home to take a look at it and he's perplexed, waits till I get home so i can be underneath/in the engine bay as he does other stuff. I lay down at the back and guess what... It was a branch stuck in the gas tank strap that was vibrating and making the tick. Sonuvabitch. Wasted all that time and wasn't able to drive today. We both felt retarded. The strap needs to get bent back up now with a pair of needle nose pliers, then after that she'll be right as rain.
This, or don't connect the two exhausts at all and have a resonator on each
and get rid of the cats.
But you want cutouts after the crossing in the Xpipes. Or to go for an Hpipe, uleh. [editline]9th March 2013[/editline] Also, if the engine he's putting in need's a downstream 02 reading he's going to need cats.. just get some high-flows in there if thats the case. [editline]9th March 2013[/editline] (downstream as in after the cat)

I left the key on all night by accident on my beetle, letting it charge now. My stepdad which is helping me in this took a look at the points and they were not to spec alwase closed. Make them to spec, looked at the plugs and ewwwwwwwwwwwww New plugs, points set correctly. If it does not run than we must dig deeper!
Went to LKQ, called on the phone before hand and got a pre recorded message that says they close at 5:45. So I take my time getting there and get to the entrance, the lady says: "Oh we close in 5 minutes" So thankfully they let me in really quick and within 10 minutes I pulled a really good intake hose, the amm wiring harness off of a 940 and a Saab amm which is the wrong fucking amm in the right car. Shows how much these local fucks know about volvos. So now I have to drive 45 minutes again to get to LKQ to pull more parts like a TPS and IAC which I couldnt find while I was there. tldr LKQ lied and I got to go get more shit.
Tried getting the condensation out of my brake light. Got most of it with a hair dryer. Didnt bother spending too much time, just wanted to clear enough to see if theres still a leak adding condensation/water or if its the same water trapped in there.
Gonna keep redesigning this until I can't see find any more improvements. So feel free to criticize. The "J" pipes at the end are for tuning out interior drone. Adjust the length to bounce different frequencies back at each other and eliminate them.
Some pretty wild exhaust you're designing, I'll have to learn about that stuff soon.
Never posted here before but I plasti dipped my rims on my 01 chevy cavalier a few days ago, which I think came out pretty good, but then I was greeted to this nice screw sticking out of my flattened tire. before [t]https://photos-4.dropbox.com/t/0/AABlqr1YP2DoaewdoFNfihnS4TKU-YxbeFTbJnEec3HNVA/12/43313698/jpeg/2048x1536/3/1362898800/0/2/2013-02-16%2014.46.41.jpg/wKVxbQTXbIlfVAD1TIu0TD54tjshVXjrf_Ub2VXN1uc[/t] after [t]https://photos-4.dropbox.com/t/0/AACPyvyAmJ_P-86Mi1AaG2VE-oOEqA0tJgPSDcf7XtnY2g/12/43313698/jpeg/2048x1536/3/1362898800/0/2/2013-03-08%2014.24.38.jpg/IidD2VWbeGA30a4Vp1XXiR6qIcowTr7uJ0CM4sb_4Qo[/t] fucking nail [t]https://photos-2.dropbox.com/t/0/AAB2EtvdMFAVfXDRjKJRPk_cUXW281t8C1nbI1xOezYxTA/12/43313698/jpeg/2048x1536/3/1362898800/0/2/2013-03-09%2023.57.42.jpg/VNNUpco22hE-IE09SiCDNFGN4ILhJUxfVB1aPbqdVmI[/t]
Threw the 'maro outside after a good amount of time cleaning it only to have the damn cat walk all over it and make it dirty. Shines pretty good for 13 year old paint after waxing it. Throttle cable was rusted through in GF's S13. Thankfully purchased a decent one from a part-out guy for $10. Feels better; also removed cruise control module.
Looked at my tail light, noticed it had 2" of water in the lower side. Idk if it was there yesterday or not, but i got the light dried out more. Im still not sure if its leaking, or if it was just water trapped in there
Well, junkyard again. I went back to the same cars again for more time. Found a really nice AMM from a 1995 940T, the last year they made them. Too bad it was there because they had the strongest and the best 2.3 engine. I took the AMM and IAC with its piping from it. I also scored a really nice chrome oil cap I found on another 240, they originally come the late 70s b21's. My car runs alright now that I put in a different AMM after cleaning it very well, the new intake pipe, IAC, IAC piping and my nice chrome oil cap. I also got my friend to agree that his new ford focus has the front end of a minivan, they ride nice though.

Took apart the airbox and intake which I'm going to replace with the intake from a 3.0L V6 engine. it will give me the extra air I need for the new software. I'll be getting my new bumper at the end of this week. I need to buy paint too then I'm turning my garage into a paint workshop. My goal is to have the car back on the road by the end of next weekend :v:
Do you actually work outside in the cold?
Do you actually work outside in the cold?
Cold? where? You've never been to Sweden have you? Edit: Jokes Aside. Yeah it's fucking cold, it was -15 celcius when I did that. There are two entries to my garage, one got 50cm of ice / snow that's impossible to remove and the other way is blocked by my ricer bug which is frozen to the ground for the moment so I can't get my car inside. And since the problem didn't fix itself the only option left for me was to man up and get shit done :)
one got 50cm of ice / snow that's impossible to remove
salt does wonders

I actually think my shock absorbers (on my bicycle) froze somewhere between last night and this morning. I tried to put my weight on the handlebars, and I'm by no means a small guy, I weigh ~115kg @ 1.75m, but it just wouldn't move at all.
Got my new tps. Put it on, voltages measure .50 closed, 3.8 fully open. not sure why its still low. But the resistence on this one is quite a bit different from the other one. It starts lower, doesnt go as high. It still has the drop off, but its no where near as big. Took it for a bunch of drives, it runs much better. I still have a bit of a power drop at 3k, but i havent reset my ecu. idk if thatll help. My next oil change is coming up too, so ill add sea foam to the oil and gas. Last time i did that, it helped a lot.

Dead On Arrival He's only running on 2/4 cylinders apparently
