There's just something about a Skyline with an L series in it that makes me happy.
Oh double posting hey but today I'm rebuilding the bottom end of a 2.2 non-turbo in the DDDaytona.

Budget bottom end kit, got me some bearings, plastigage, white lithium grease for assembly (really great stuff, it's for applications where you ABSOLUTELY need clean lube for assembly, it's super clean shit), gunk remover, paper towels, gasket shit, and some RTV for extra help where needed. Should be a hoot.
Start time 5:30, draining the oil into a spare oil pan I had popped off of a Honda D16 engine (how's that for recycling?), should be done at sunset, 8:30 PM.
9v connectors got here today.
Hooked up one to the headlights, havent done the rooflights yet.
Eventually i think ill put in a toolbox and hide the wiring+batteries there, but the bed is pretty small as it is.
The wires are the smallest ive ever worked with, so small my wire stripper couldnt strip them

Ran the wiring up and threw a hole left from taking out the cage. If i put in a tool box, ill run it threw the bottom of the bed

I switched my right front turn signal housing today

Whilst I don't work on it myself I thought maybe you guys would be interested in my Grandad's Emeryson, one of the last few remaining of around 8 cars. He has spent so much time restoring and fixing it up, he loves it.

I changed my bikes oil, had to use the fucking 2 foot long ratchet to get the oil drain bolt off. We also have my friends AE86 almost back together. I just hope he treats it with some respect this time and watches his coolant and oil and temperature and doesnt blow another damn head gasket. I am cutting out the EGR block off plate because we broke a 70 dollar tiny ass plastic piece that has the EGR vacuum lines into it and it is old enough to not need emissions.
Changed my front motor mount back to stock, the crazy vibration at idle/takeoff with prothanes was just too much for a DD... It's a lot less insane now so I think I'm just gonna leave the rear mount in instead of buying a new stock one.
Finished welding the floor into place in the Golf Mk3. Now it just needs the after-check on the MOT/EU-check/whatever.
changed the mazda3 oil today 30101 miles in one year 3rd time ive changed the oil.....little thing made 15 states this year. could of got new jersey but i stopped at the river and said hell no. lol
Got the transmission lines installed. working on making a steel-braided fuel line from tank to pump with a kit. New sensors and all. Deciding whether or not to pull the motor and trans to repaint the bay a little more. Saddens me I dont have the money to redo all the sound-proofing material and paint the under carriage. :(
Cleaned out the breather box on the engine, I just hope it did something and I won't have to buy another one
So ya'll, I don't know if I should be concerned or not, and this may seem silly but I am entirely curious. I noticed that the wires on my battery are hooked up backwards. My Black wire is going to Positive (+) and my Red wire is going to Negative (-)
If I recall correctly that is entirely wrong right? My Jeep still starts and everything, so if it were a problem wouldn't that prevent it from starting?
Mind you, this isn't an error made on my part, I have a feeling that the car was serviced by the previous owner and the mechanic just swapped out the wires; except he hooked up the red where black goes and vice versa. Should I even bother fixing this?

I would first trace down what cable goes exactly were... That should give you a idea. But No, I would not mess with it until you KNOW what cable is the proper ground or not.
On my Audi I know the ground is only a foot long cable running straight too the first available metal.
rear main seal took a shit
fawk uuuuuuuuu
46$ and I have to drop the trans, god damn!

batteries can be charged backwards, just so you know. check with a multimeter just to be sure.

At least it wasn't a couple hundred in bearings and other bits. Be thankful. :v:
You would know if you put your battery on backwards. It will start to spark like a motherfucker.
Today I found out that I am terrible at spray painting. Now I know why people say you need a compressor and a gun.
Spray painting isn't hard unless you get the cheapest cans and have no patience at all
So my brother tried to change his oil. Now we changed his oil and his transmission fluid.

I did both

[editline]3rd August 2013[/editline]
I spent a lot of time sanding, and I was pretty pleased with the primer. It just went downhill from there. Fucking bugs jumping onto the paint, spray can had no coverage. Just lost my temper probably.
Absolutely nothing but problems today.
Tried to do my rear brake rotors. Turns out that my 5mm wheel spacers are now part of the brake rotor and won't come off. So I can't get to the guide pin to loosen and take off the brake rotor.
Tried to see If I can change my diff fluid, drain plug came out with no issue. Filler plug was tight in there but I didn't have any fluid so I decided to move on.
Tried to see If I could change my fuel filter. Took the plate off under the car that it and the inline fuel pump were mounted to. Can't take off the fuel lines to take the whole assembly out from under the car because I lack the crush washers. The fuel filter banjo bolts were stuck and I had no leverage to get them off.
So now I was tired and covered in sticky undercoating tar.
Got absolutely nothing done.
I'll enjoy rewiring my taillights tomorrow because that can't be too much of a bitch compared to all that.
That is why I always make sure I can take the fill bolt/plug off first before I drain anything.

Well I didn't drain it, I got it loose.
Changed the front brake pads on the Opel. Who ever had it before didn't know the first thing about changing them. They were all unevenly worn. One had maybe 1mm left while the other had about 5mm left. Ah well, all is well now.
I think my brakes are more effective now by the way.

could be a sign of a stuck slider

let me guess the inside wore more?
could be a sign of a stuck slider
In my experience, it most certainly sounds like it. I've never worked on brakes where a stuck guide pin/slider wasn't the cause of uneven wear.
So, today just as I'm getting ready to leave a friends house I go to start my car, and I might be jinxing myself, but it seemed to take a few moments longer to start and at first, wouldn't. I'm gonna check the plugs and cylinders tomorrow, also glad I got a mechanics "endoscope".
I'm pretty sure i've got a blown headgasket in the civic, so.. that's fun..
Buddy blew his headgasket about a month after he boosted his EK, original headgaskets/stock headbolts just don't cut it when it comes to boost I guess. This just means you get to do a timing belt, head gasket and headstuds then turn up the boost! His thermostat also failed and blew up a radiator hose, I'd throw $45 at a new Honda thermostat and radiator cap at the same time too just as a precaution since it's not often you do those without them failing.
