I finally took the time to make a new hole for the thermometer in my dashboard
[t]http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab91/jomt1234/20130808_203324_zpse8634d5f.jpg[/t]
It's not the best hole, because the dremel melted the plastic instead of cutting it :v:
You have to cut plastic on a slower speed or that will happen. If it's a multi-speed dremel, set it on it's lowest speed and go from there. Also, don't mash on it while it cuts, let the bit do the cutting and stone bits are a massive no-no for plastic as well.
Motor is in, all we have to do now is put the radiator back in, hook up the harness + computer, aaaand start it!

Will have a vid of it running tomorrow night hopefully.

Test fitting of accessories. Missing a few fasteners; wonder how this happens. Just need to clean up old gasket material now and just slap it all together. SOOOOON

Ah! Well then, something new learned!
ENGINE
Front looks similar to the L series.
Well, it is a Nissan.
did the clutch on a friends mustang two days ago and did another friends timing belt on his GTI yesterday. doing more work on the days off than when i'm actually at work lol
I'm currently working on replacing the water pump on my 1995 Mazda Miata. Also flushed the radiator on my 1996 Cutlass Ciera.
its nice to see gays getting into cars too :)
Progress.
Cam's in, new water pump's in, timing cover, etc front of engine is done. On to the top.

Machine shop did a good job on the heads, and yay for LS6 springs.
Cleaned up another of my LGT wheels. One more to go, then its time for my first time painting alluminum wheels
I lost compression in two cylinders. I pulled the head. The top held fuel and didn't leak past the seals, so I dropped it off at a machine shop and let it become their problem. For $250 this guy's redoing the seals, the seats, valves, and shaving the head down a little for me. I love old cars. Took me and my dad 30 minutes to disconnect the head from everything and lift it out. Easy.

One of the push rods was broken and the lifter was sitting up on top of where it's supposed to be along with the two halves of the push rod. It looks like the valve got stuck. All getting fixed and I'll have the head back tomorrow and already have a new gasket and carb rebuild kit just to make her all pretty. Apparently the car was running on 5 cylinders for about 4k miles... guess that's a slant for ya.
Did more progress tonight, cleaned up the block some more, installed heads, rockers, lifters, pushrods, prepped the intake, installed intake manifold, close to being done re-building this 3800.
Here's some pictures again ;

Should hopefully be done with the engine tomorrow, then it's work again, so hopefully next weekend car is back on the road.
Should be gnarly, wish I could afford to rebuild the 3.8 in my camaro, or fit a supercharger on it, has noooo power at all.
I did both
:v:
[editline]3rd August 2013[/editline]
I spent a lot of time sanding, and I was pretty pleased with the primer. It just went downhill from there. Fucking bugs jumping onto the paint, spray can had no coverage. Just lost my temper probably.
Once I was painting my mopeds fairings, after applying 2nd coat of clear coat a dog hair flew in to the wet clear coat and digging it out completely destroyed everything. Then I went matte black

N/A 3800 are goats at 200 horses. But if you want some more pep for it, grab on an HV3 insert, used if possible, a 2.5" downpipe or true duals and some ER Rockers, you won't be super powerful, but you'll at least be at around 240-250bhp.
Otherwise stick on a turbo, 3800 loves turbos.
I'll probably just be at around 300 horses with my set up, but I have room for way way more next year. At least I'll have the LOPE
Next thing to go on ;

crank position sens
kicking my ass so fuck damn hard
fuck this shit dammit
Replaced rear main crank seal
Replaced inputshaft seal
Replaced outputshaft seal
Redid the FIG on the inputshaft seal retainer
Fixed loose swaybar link.
Still tuning the shit out of the ms3pro.
I now have a working traction control (ms3pro + abs sensors :D)
Attempt #1 in simplifying task, helped with not having to climb under the truck due to a lost wrench, but it wouldnt fit all the way

Then I became idea

I now had a wrench that fit in the space, but it was too small! (or so i thought)
FINALLY got a good bite with it, and in a good position to turn it (was on my back, the sensor is at the 11oclock position on my bell housing) and got the top bolt out for my cps.
So today: Changed my CPS (no more stumbles) and changed my MAP sensor (no more launching to 2-2.5k at start/ idling at 2-3k/dying at low idle).

More progress ; Only gotta bolt on that exhaust manifold back and stick it in the engine bay. But that'll have to go next weekend, had to leave to do stuff home then head work on the night.

I also ported the front manifold a wee bit, the shape was more of a rectange instead of a circle, now it's a bit closer to a circle.

Nice rims, what brand?
Nice rims, what brand?
They are OEM Subaru wheels, from a '98 Legacy GT.
Sometimes Subaru had their wheels outsourced to companies like BBS, but im pretty sure these were made in house by Subaru
Got my bearings repacked in the front.
Got the transmission tailshaft bushing fixed in the rear
Changed the transmission fluid and redid the transmission cooler lines.
Today has been good.
