Went to the bone yard and took a third brake light off a "similar" car. Its not a 99 blazer, but it was close enough.
Cost: $5
Took it home, changed the brackets, did some splicing and crimping, replaced a screw.. and we're good to go. I finally have a 3rd brake light.

Today I also took charge over my CEL. Got the code, P0420, than probably put more trust than not into this forum thread and bought the parts.

what is it and how do i make it not happen
Oil speck -- will repel water-based paint and make it do that, or create "orange peel" in larger amounts. Did you wipe it down with oil and grease remover before painting?
Even the slightest speck can create that.

http://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-pre-painting-prep.html
there was a LOT more the first time i tried so i sanded it down and cleaned up and then used that stuff ^ for like half an hour and i've still got several of these things. what cleaner should I try using?
yeah was a LOT worse the first time

And you used clean cloth to apply it? And wore gloves?
You didn't touch it bare-handed after that, did you?

used a clean cloth to spread the pre, wiped it off with another cloth and used ~8 cloths on the roof. didn't wear gloves but I don't think i touched it. maybe grease got on the cloth from my hand and then on the car?
[editline]14th August 2013[/editline]
fuck it i'm off tomorrow ill shoot over to the ZONE with henry and pick up some gloves
[editline]14th August 2013[/editline]
third times the CHARM
[editline]14th August 2013[/editline]
you think it might be sweat? it's always hot as fuck in that garage
[editline]14th August 2013[/editline]
and i did have a filter thing right before my sprayer so moisture shouldnt come out from the gun
I've painted tons of shit, sweat like a pig, and touched stuff barehanded before painting and I've never gotten spots like that.
god ford fucken sucks rite
Couldn't it be dust underneath the paint?
If you're not incredibly clean when you touch the car it can cause those spots, sweat won't do it but grease/oil/slime from various things will.
Could also be bad paint/bad mix but that doesn't seem right, idk
Looks like dust to me. I always run a tack rag over metal a couple times before I paint it.
I use windex before i paint. It was recommended to use water with ammonia before applying one paint i used, and it worked really good. Ever since then, ive bought the generic brand of windex to use before painting, and ive had very good luck with it

Overkill fasteners everywhere. Just need a power steering pressure line, fan clutch and fluids now and this engine build is complete.

These look like fisheyes, man. Dust sticks up, and although I do see that a little in the first pic, it's nothing bad. Those fisheyes are indeed from contaminates or moisture in the air line.
http://pc.dupont.com/dpc/en/US/html/visitor/s/trouble/PDSG_Fisheyes.html
Another thing that I run into is that if I lay on really heavy basecoat it does that more heavily. If you do very thin and light coats it isn't wet enough to pucker and do that. A few light coats first will seal it.
If you're got shit in the air line though you're screwed.. need a decent drier/ filter. A couple bulbs from the auto shop should do it.
This is all in the base so far, right??
As far as dust... if there's a wee bit in the base, don't worry. Keep shooting, and then shoot clear.. and once the clear is layed out if you have dust issues still cut it with 1000 then 1500, then buff it.

I'm out
I changed the basket filters, and o rings on my injectors. No more leaking gas on the intake. So no more, "Is my car gonna catch on fire? I hope i'm not retarded from gas fumes when i get there." every time i drive. I love it when things go to plan.
Today i managed to make it to the garage, been a few months since i went there.
Looked over the kingquad 300 a bit, it needs a fair amount of work, but if the guy wants to sell it, my dad and i are very interested. It needs wheel bearings, possibly rings on the motor, carb work, and tie rod ends.
My dad got it running, fixed a few things so we could test it. Its a very great atv, never thought id like it so much.
Its a 1999. Its actually a semi-auto, no clutch lever. The owner put on an added lever, making it so instead of shifting with your foot, you can shift with your hand.
It had the same steering issue my old '05 Kingquad 700 had, the bushing at the end of the steering shaft had the grease dry up, but we sprayed it and got it steering again.
I also helped out on an '00 F250 Diesel. The truck has a tool bed on it. What happened was, he had a tire blow out and it ripped out some taillight wiring and the fuel filler neck.
I guess the guy tried fixing the wiring himself, but kept blowing fuses, something. We got it, put in fuses, couldnt get the lights to work at all. In the end, we found out the guy added on a boost gauge. When he did, the wires were just jambed into the fuses and crossed between a couple. Pulled the wire out, everything worked fine after.
Also, had a Grand Cherokee come in. Complaints included brake light out, front end issue, etc.
Turns out axle shaft on rear axle is bent, brake lights work but are sprayed so thick with tint you cant see them, and the fog lights are the same way
Took a day off tomorrow so went home early this week, right after I came back from work I headed to the garage and got the engine in the bay, then left and ehh, ate.
So now tomorrow evening I may be ready to start up the cammed rebuild.
I was told by a bunch of you guys that the 2.7 v6 in my accord was going to be "no frills". And because ya'll have been doing car stuff for what I assume longer then myself I trusted that info.
I'm now starting to think thats a bit of an overstatement, this things got some pep. Enough to almost, as far as I'm concerned, keep up with a 2012 Camero.
I'm starting to think the guys that redid my engine did some shit they didn't tell me about. At least I hope, because I didn't expect a 2.7 to put me in my seat.
2.5 puddle of love master race
Got started on converting the interior of the 7 to LEDs. Bit of a pain in the arse as the kit I received has all the wrong sized bulbs... come on China, get your act together, you're supposed to be good at this. Anyway, remarkably harder to photograph LEDs than filament bulbs...

Normally if he does not have a kit for you, just email him and he will make a kit.

Honda V6's are not slouches, the C series has all the fun issues you have had though. The J series V6's however all make even more power and torque with none of the issues. They all sound pretty damn good too!

Speaking of LED's I just swapped out the dome light, map lights and trunk light all with LED's today too. It's nice being able to see things in the car now lol.
Almost has an Audi snarl to it. I still wish Honda would make a road going V8.

to be fair though, my pontiac hit 60 in a laughable 9 seconds, but still felt fast and still put you in your seat when you got on it.
Sanded bead areas and painted them on one of my wheels, much better than before. Getting closer and closer to done with one wheel :v
Im just trying to do a good job on these ones, getting the bead nice and smooth, fixing all the nicks i can, etc.
Should have it finished tomorrow
My DIY O2 Sensor thingy is actually working. Kinda surprised. Now I wish I knew the science behind it.
Spark plug non fouler used on O2 sensors helps since the flow is no longer directly on the sensor. Simple.
