So, I'm gonna need some new tires soon in the flavor of 205/45 ZR17 (88W optional, so is Z).
What brands do yall recommend that won't cost more then $320 a set.

I don't care if the tires scream like a gorilla getting ripped in half, I'd just like something that has not-boring looking tread, deflects water well and is not a "pay for the brand instead of quality" type of tire.
The only two brands I can think of are Cooper and Yokohama but I hear that yoko is crap these days, not sure bout Cooper though.

Best bet, is going on a place like tirerack. Sort tires by cheapest first, and work your way down until you find one you like with good ratings.
Then, search for that tire on ebay. Sometimes you find ones thatre cheaper with free shipping.
My personal favorite, daily driver tire, is the Kumho KR21. Good grip in every kind of weather, even snow. Very quiet, rated as a 85k mile tire. Dont think they have your size though
If you want a tire thats loud as fuck, grippy as fuck, and wont last long;
Mastercraft GlacierGrip.
When you hit any road that isnt perfect, so loud you cant think.
Hit a bridge thats concrete, my god theres a jet taking off in my car

There's a set of Cooper Cobras on the Mk2 I sold my brother, they don't do super great in the rain.
If I have the choice, I'd like to go for these TYRE LINK. It also seems the absolute closest I'm going to get to stock size is to go from 205/40 to 215/45 being my speedo is off by about, well, this:

I want it more like this:

According roughly to that techie stuff, it's the best I'm gonna get.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Only problem with them is thay they DON'T like being overinflated, ESPECIALLY compared to other tyres.
Quite good in rain though, unless the road is literally covered fully in water.

I saw some goodyears on tirerack, but none had the quality I'm looking for.
The Eagle GT's are pretty decent tires, they have nice fat lip protectors to protect your wheels from getting curbed and have excellent wet traction with good dry traction. The treadwear is higher than most tires of similar price and category too. They seem to be really expensive on Tirerack suddenly though.

Well, if you're still in the market for 205/45 then Ecsta ASTs are going to be much better than those Solus. They also come in the same size as those Solus for more or less around the same.
If you just want some cheap, grippy tires, GT Radial makes the Champiro, which is a fairly decent tire especially considering the price.
For around the same price as the overpriced tirerack tires (don't buy from tirerack, that place seriously sucks ass, DTD is the way to go for buying tires online) you can get some far superior Neo-Gens, for only about $7 more per tire.
Today, i managed to fix my cruise control arm, on my audi, the cruise control function worked, but it would not let me increase the speed while active, so i changed the arm, and now it works like a charm..
Haven't been doing much to the car myself, as haven't had time but my Dad has. Its annoying that i don't get to work on it as sometimes I'm really lazy too. Anyhow heres some pictures.

Installing power steering pump (why we put in the electric fuel pump). Putting in fan clutch too (didn't have one before, needed one as the old fan was clipping on the new pulley for the power steering pump) its tight up front.

Now all we need to do is to replace the whole steering box and then, it should have power steering.
I still need a flywheel, clutch, master/slave cylinders, speedo cable, tail shaft, pedal box and gearshifter bushings before the swap is attempted. Also killed a redback spider! In the engine bay those things can kill.

At least yours works! I actually have to leave my foot on the gas, the horrors I go through.
Since these pop-up cup holders are useless, I made myself a one size fits all cup holder, using a chunk of 2x4 and some heavy duty velcro.

Today, fixed left front stuck caliper.
New caliper, slides, bolts, etc.
One thing though, my old caliper was one big piston. The new one is two smaller ones.
Ill try it a while, see how it works with the one piston on the other side

In the future, go to hardware store, and buy a 3" section of 3" wide ABS pipe. Should cost about $1.00 or something. It holds pretty much any drink.
[editline]20th September 2013[/editline]
Got my Super Six air cleaner in for the carter BBD setup. Kind of rusty and gross, but it was literally free. So I can't complain. I cleaned it up, removed all the paint, and got rid of all the rust - luckily it was all surface with a little bit of chew through, that won't affect anything on the back rim (lucky). So I got it down to bare metal, primed it, and painted both pieces. The body got a shot of gloss black engine enamel, and the top is the same blue I used on the intake manifold. Today I missed the delivery of the Exhaust manifold, which will be Gloss black as well, I believe. Not sure yet. The air cleaner also gets a 70's reproduction of the "SUPER SIX" chrysler decal that goes on top. Should look pretty spiffy. Haven't got it in the mail yet though.

Lots of paint and primer went into that little piece. Takes a lot to make free junk look nice.
Then the rest of my custom stripe came in. Came out just like my imagination planned it. It was pretty difficult to explain to the seller how I wanted the letters to sit, but he got it right.

The Neo-Gens look awesome, but the treadwear rating is abysmal, so is the GT's. The Ecsta AST's rating and look are closer to what I'm looking for and even though the speed rating is 130 I'm ok with that. I don't think I'm gonna be doing alot of racing at break-neck speeds, besides, water deflecting treads on the ASTs.
Dart
Quit trying to convince me to buy a Dart.
So my odometer got stuck sometime last week, pulled the cluster today and took it apart... I guess there was something stuck in one of the gears because the little motor wasn't siezed or anything but it wouldn't move, took it apart and put it back together and it rolled normally. I didn't see anything fall out... so I dunno, but it works now. lol
If anyone was wondering what an oldschool mechanical odometer looks like...

the seat bottoms are pretty bad, there really aren't any nearby (its about 60 miles to the nearest) pick and pull yards. I mentioned it to DP on steam, but I kind of want to try just wrap the bottom of the seat, because the leather on the backs are still in great condition (for being 15 year old leather)
