it's basically sound deafening, you'll lose a few kilos if you strip it off but it'll be alot louder.
That is sound deadening material. Its there to just help lower road noise and such. You can remove it, the only thing is that the road will be louder. I personally have removed all the floor sound deadening in my car. Makes things louder, but it did remove ~40lbs. My car had a similar issue, moisture got into the material and started rust. I took all the material out, then primed my floor after cleaning it up. You can buy new material, theres a few different ones that are commonly used. In fact, you could sound proof more of the car if you wished
it's basically sound deafening, you'll lose a few kilos if you strip it off but it'll be alot louder.
In my car, it wasnt a whole lot louder. When i drive in sand and it hits the bottom of the car, thats a bit louder. But as long as you have decent tires, it wont be much louder Might as well update with what i did the other day. I hooked up the other strut for my hatch. The struts were destroyed during shipping, one i was able to unscrew and put my old one in, but the other actually broke the nut off. So i retrieved the nut, cut a hole beside the spot where the nut goes, and put it back there and tightened it down. It looks a little ugly, but the hole is somewhat small. Ill probably just cover it with electrical tape for now. Ill need the hole later on if i decide to replace my struts
Hey sweetie do us a favor, get a Air Cooled engine and paint it using high temp engine paint. Post results of how efficient it is. Caution this post contains dangerous acts of anti-cooling property's to the crank case and jugs.
My dirtbike is air cooled and the engine was painted red before I got it, years ago. It still singes the paint when it idles for a while without moving.
My car had a painted engine from the factory Aka Redblock

The part where the water had been soaking came right off, but the back end is sticking really badly. Flat head screwdriver? Soak it in vinegar? Paint scraper? Also the town cars carpet is so damn thick I don't think it'll make much of a difference :v
So this friday i'm probably going to redo the whole front suspension on my audi.. i've bought everying new, and i'll put it all together with a working mate... should be interesting to see how the handlings going to be..
changed the serpentine idler on my blazer today, goodbye squeaky bearings also there was nothing on my power steering dipstick oops

Some people say dry ice, others say a torch, i had good luck with the scraper. It just took some time, as the sound deadener tended to come off in small pieces. I did use a big flathead screwdriver in some places that were really stuck Today, i nearly finished one wheel.
Plastidip's real intended use is to put rubber grips on harbor freight tools. Not to paint cars...
I never knew that. Harbor Freight is great for hand tools and other hardened objects. Anything with a power cord, it will get the job done once, but 50/50 chance it won't the second time.

Fine with me. Plastidip originally came in a can that looked like a pringles can. you opened the top, dipped your crescent wrench in or whatever, then pulled it out. Hence the name...
Ran out of motivation and/or time to hook it all up. But I've secured the transmission, and now finalizing the head installation. Gotta torque down the ARP studs, and hook up the manifolds etc. Plus the GF's 240SX still has that nasty coolant hose leak that's a pain to fix. Hopefully it holds together just enough so I can get to work tomorrow morning.

I've worked my ass off for months buying the parts and slowly learning along the way
Putting in new speakers today because the old blose were replaced with absolute shit.

I finished that one wheel, got a start on another, but fuck. My arm is still sore from last night. Ive got quite a ways to go, so i figured im better off taking a break for a while rather than overworking my arm
This doesn't seem like the right way to check my tire pressure [t]http://i.imgur.com/dhn0S9T.jpg[/t]
Swapped out junky ebay fan that original owner popped on. Maybe there's a reason these fans are only $15.00... I'm not sure... Anyway, it had to go, and it could have been the overheating issue at hand. It just blew air all over the damn place, even under the car out the fenders. It was a bad fan. So I got an original 7 blade fan off a 225 with A/C. I don't have A/C but who cares. It fit fine. Original fan on this car was a flat=bladed 4 blade fan. It makes a really sweet purple haze, and actually directs air at the motor, not all over the goddamn earth. http://youtu.be/nfktyJ1959w
Ever think of going Efan?
Ever think of going Efan?
I did think about it... but thermostatic switches and more electric crap just isn't in my game right now. I'd like to get it running perfect mechanically with the mech fan, and then make a nice stainless shroud for a larger radiator if I wanted a set of twin Efans... I'm just staying simple right now.
I have a 7 blade fan in my garage. I thought they mostly came on v8s though, could be wrong.
you want the fan to direct air through the rad, not blow air on the engine.
you want the fan to direct air through the rad, not blow air on the engine.
I think they are one in the same. If the air is pointed at the motor, it is coming from the rad. No real way for it not to be. [editline]24th October 2013[/editline]
I would think making a fan shroud would direct the air better. Then no electric fan crap!
The car came with one, but the original owner trashed it, thinking he was making it cool better... dumb because it had the opposite effect. The car cools just fine in town. It's once you hit 70mph + that it heats. It's an issue I've been chasing for a while now. All cooling system has been replaced and checked, and the block and head are clean. Carb is not rich or lean either - running a 59 jet on it, started with a 54. It's just one of those mysteries.
No fan shroud? The goal is more to pull air through the radiator than trying to air cool the motor. A shroud will make a world of difference. I would pressure test the system too. Low pressure will boil water pretty easily. Ignore me I'm late :)

Just changed the left window crank in the back, the old one was cracked.
I see it's been a while since you changed your headlight fluid?
6000/8 months. Colors a bit off because I used an oil additive the previous ~500 miles, but my headlights are MUCH brighter now
