So, lately i was hearing this wierd noise, from the back of the car, everytime i was braking, and i just thought that my brakes were stuck or something, and turn out
Both the caliper and the fucking brake pads were stuck, and the and it was bare metal against metal..
Fucking shite, it's 17:00 already dark, and here i am with a caliper that's stuck all the way out and brake pads with nothing on them...
So i luckily found some used brakepads we threw away the other day from a polo 6n9 (they fucking fit who knew)
and with a hammer and a airtool i managed to get the caliper loose and working again...
Mind, that today i did a FULL service on a touran with DSG oil change and coolant (pain in the ass)
so that last thing i wanted to do after work, was to work on my own, jesus....
oh man, picking up m30 swap friday, brb ripping e30 apart.
[editline]6th November 2013[/editline]
oh wait i need to do brakes on my dads car first fuck.
Oh that's weird... have you checked junkyards? maybe they would sell you the whole thing and probably for way less than 90 bucks, lol. Or maybe if there are any communities for your car, since I know it's pretty common for people to just entirely delete the egr system...
I'm not really sure whats needed to delete the EGR system, and I'd rather not, the egr system is used to help prevent cylinder detonation. I've checked a few junkyards, and the only one that has my car is almost an hour and a half away.
There also really aren't any communities for Accord V6s in my neck of the woods, most people around here drive heaps or leased cars/trucks. There are the rare "ricers" (neons, civics, preludes) and the almost ultra rare Ferrari, Lamborghini, Viper, Ford GT (seen once). I'd have to go to the tampa area and farther south for community stuff.
All EGR does is help with emissions, not anything else really.
EGR helps emissions and reduces combustion temperatures.
and it helps emissions BY reducing the combustion temperature.
also magic
don't get no power dat way nigga, take dat shit off!
But I donts wants teh knocks...
And I really don't want to see the MIL on 24/7, no amount of tape or pulling the bulb will suffice.
I want to KNOW that my rebuilt engine is running at peak.
It also increases fuel mileage by reintroducing unburnt fuel from the exhaust into the cylinder. Plus they'll make exhaust valves last quite a bit longer.
I'm not a fan of cat's and similar systems but an EGR isn't worth taking off to me unless an intake or header swap is taking place.

No.
Honda EGR systems drastically reduce cylinder temps allowing to push timing upto 10 degrees and fuel 10%. These aren't old school motors with carbs and static tuning, proper use of an EGR can have incredible effects with some proper tuning.

Pretty sure he has a old C series Accord, deleting it would be the last thing he wants to do.
I'm used to my 'murrican engines where you can block off EGR and it wont do much except raise your emissions and lower mileage, gives you a bit more power too alot of times

I remember that forum/thread, you posted it before I had my engine rebuilt when I was trying to deduce weather I had a blown gasket or not, turned out both on 4 cylinders were seeping.
I forgot to thank you for the info. So, thanks.
And yeah, C27A4 with the "better then the Legends' " intake. Still gets clogged though... It's not now, I made sure of that.

Yeah, back then I'd think it was more just an attempt to meet emissions. Sadly the Legend and older V6 Accords are ending up in the junkyard quicker and quicker due to this EGR system blocking up like this and leaning out to death. While it's a neat system and the C series was a really great motor back in the day, it's pretty flawed in reliability.

Certainly, I had been looking this up about a month before you asked some questions about it for my GF's brother's Legend and we just dumped 20w-50 in to keep it from smoking and sold it lol. You can get that "EGR Vacuum Solenoid" from Rockauto for $48, I've got a 5% discount code too. There's only one left on a wholesale closeout so I'd probably jump on it here soon.

You = Life/money saver. Thank you muchly brosef, Imma hit it up as soon as I can. I'm glad that I know about the EGR issues now and know how to fix'em, so if I run into anyone who has the issue and doesn't know what to do I can help. That and keep my ride runnin' smooth.

No don't delete your egr haha I meant like forums with classifieds, since there may be people who had deleted their egr or are parting out a motor getting rid of the parts for super cheap. Rockauto's a good idea if you can't find anything like that though
So those 7 dollar speakers I got for my car... one of them broke. So I had to go to my friendly neighborhood Autozone and get a new speaker. Put that in and hopefully the other one doesn't decide to quit working.
The 7's in at the exhaust place getting new mufflers swapped on. Always worries me shitless leaving it with anyone else... "Leave it with us and we'll call you when it's done!" arggghh. Hopefully it won't turn out too loud, ended up going with Magnaflow XL's, the 3 chamber mufflers. Previously tried straight pipes as most E38 owners do that and it sounds nice, but something about the 3.0L motor makes straight pipes sound like 10 open exhaust manifolds strapped together...
We shall see.
make sure you take a video!
I've seen some sweet stuff done with that 3.0 V8
Well I have it back. Still way way way too loud... and this is with bot cats + resonator intact and triple chamber magnaflow XL mufflers. It's not bad once you get some high revs going, but cruising? Drone and ear bleed all day long. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement, I can't find an aftermarket more restrictive than this... I'm basically going to stuff around with it, maybe pack some high temp steel / copper wool into the end pipe and cap the tip with a mesh. Or maybe there's an insert to be found on eBay or something.
But I either have a play with it, or they're getting cut off and going in the trash. I'm not wasting any more money on the exhaust, this already puts me at about $1,000 from trying the muffler delete and now these mufflers. Australia is a total ripoff for exhaust work, hell, for everything!
If anyone knows of a 2.25" muffler silencer insert, let me know. I've seen a few I really liked but they were all 2" or 2.5".

If you want it to be quiet, isn't it possible to get a stock exhaust system for it? I may have misread something above but the stock one shouldn't be loud.
Maybe a bit late but about a month ago i finished swapping my stock small case 3.45 open diff out for a E30 325 big case 3.73 LSD one, skid car now finally skids :v: wish the only track in town would be open during winter though.
[T]http://filesmelt.com/dl/diff.jpg[/T]
Also been helping a friend with his E28, he bought one for cheap unpainted with a dead M20B27 and a welded diff. Engine was beyond fucked so it got pulled out and a M30B35 with a dogleg gearbox was bought.
A couple of days ago we finished dropping it in, we are using the M20 engine loom since it appears to be very similar to the M30 loom with a Motronic ECU out of a E34 335 i had lying around, driveshaft might need to be shortened haven't measured it though.

I've got the stock mufflers, but they're 100% silent, you literally cannot hear anything out of them. I wanted to try and get a little note from it without taking it too far, and the usual method to do it on these particular motors is to just remove the mufflers altogether and leave the rest stock (cats, resonator etc). For whatever reason, the 3.0L motor just triples in noise compared to the 4.0/4.4's. So I basically found one of the most restrictive mufflers I could that would fit (Magnaflow XL, 3 chamber muffler) in the hopes I could just ease the restriction a bit, but it's still far too loud.
So it's down to experimentation, seeing what it's going to take to reach a satisfying level of noise. Most people want stupid levels of noise, I don't, I want subtle but noticeable, you know? Right now it sounds actually very nice outside the car, but inside it resonates the cabin badly around 30% of the time (mostly idle and low speed rolling). I will find a balance somehow, I'm sure :P

There's a reason as to why Magnaflow mufflers are nicknamed Magnadrone.
My truck has no drone at all and its got a magnafro. I thought flowmasters were the king of drone
Flowmasters are dronemasters, so they go hands in hands with magnadrones!
I would have bought a borla if I could have justified paying more for a muffler
Borla = best. If I change my mufflers it'll either be some Trush turbo's, if I go cheap, or some Borla Pro XS (But 2 x 150$ = 300$ for mufflers.)
So many mufflers, know what...
Just straight it already.
I'd love to get a Borla muffler, but thats a helluva pretty penny to spend. If I ever do update my rusty muffler, I want something that sounds like muscle, not those dumbass fart can mufflers I always hear...
