Nice, should be able to finish it over the weekend if there's no complications then.
Btw, do you know the ratio of that welded rear diff you bought?
4.10... same as the one that's on there, I actually think the guy just used his own 320i diff and welded it, so I'm not gonna use the welded one.
[editline]15th November 2013[/editline]
i'd like to get like, a 3.64 or something tho.
[editline]15th November 2013[/editline]
also you were right about the gear selector, the bit that it connects to on the transmission was what it was sticking on.
Yeah, better to not use the welded diff. Not really the best idea for a daily driver, especially if it's your first car, better save up for a proper LSD.
3.64 should be good, I use a 3.15 on my M52 since the gearbox has shorter ratios. Good for 6.0 seconds to 100kmh, hits the rev limiter at 230, don't really care much about top speed though, good acceleration is much more important in my opinion.
I used the 4.10 diff with the M52 for a while when I was looking for an LSD, wheelspin in 4th gear, was fun... in a way, I guess.
So I got this strut bar to add to the JDMness of the car.

Wonder how much I can sell this for. If not I will rock it. Everyone else runs fake stuff, I have original Japan
Fake stuff probably does the same as original japan, it's just a strut brace.
Probably. But this one is better. It's made out of a thicker piece of steel stock. It's mounts are also milled to shape and forged unlike the fakes which weld the brackets on the base plate. The bolts are also mounted through the bar instead of fakes that use an adjustable stud inside the bar itself. They will work the same but one is JDMTITEYO

Swapped my hazard relay into the blinker relay, drove to the store, bought new relays, and replaced both hazards and the blinkers.

Screw that, with some adjustments, he can make a strobe! It's actually kinda awesome.
I've been looking for a set of woodgrain grab handles for the 7,but have so far come up empty... They're either all way too expensive, or cheap but completely ruined. I figured they're low-use items and more of a visual thing anyway (at least in the 7), so I put together something myself. I plan to re-do it in higher quality materials, but the following I made with cheap matte adhesive paper, some crappy clear contact, a custom walnut burr texture I hacked together and the pretty average quality work photocopier;

It's bastardly difficult to get the right colour, but I'm totally chuffed - in normal lighting and while you're in the car driving, there's literally no way to tell they're not OEM.
... You just gave me some grand ideas about how to put my woodworking skills to good use.
Hello, customized interior... :D I do believe rosewood trim would be a beautiful project to do.
Many thanks for posting this, never would of had the thought otherwise!
On a personal experience level, Rosewood does make a nice interior piece. I've found that cooler door panels I have made were always with walnut burl. It just looks the part for fancy cars. Or birdseye maple. If you want to get a little old-school (with the pictures of wood on vinyl) redwood, and zebrawood replace those rather nicely. I did a 240z (I think it was) with some pieces of aluminum, and a mahogany inlay. Got all the parts out of the trash bin behind my shop, and it replaced a door panel trim piece that was already present. It looked badass.
that feel, when i realise i placed the engine in the car using the wrong holes... brb lifting it and moving a further 2 cm in ;_;

Who in the glorious name of fuck decided to use paper cones and foam surround in a car? They can barely last in a temperature regulated house (unless they have that protective coating on the foam surround in which case in un-extreme conditions they'll be fine), how the fuck will they last in a car going damp to dry extremely hot to extremely cold.
Finally got a day off of work to work on the car, got the engine out. woo 1 step closer to a running vehicle again

Finally got headlights in. Still waiting on 4700k HID's to come in the mail to pop in the lenses. (The white ones, not... blue ick...) For now there's some H4 halogens in there. They work kinda. They came with the lamps so why not. I may opt for a Hella housing to get rid of the halo's. I did not realize they were on there when I got them but the price was right. They may look ok if the parking lamps are a similar design... almost makes me want to race track the tail lights, like on modern cars. That may actually look interesting. If anything the next addition will be brighter reverse lights. The ones I have just light up, they do not allow people to see you, or you to see...
I wired the angel eyes to their own seperate switch which is hidden on top of the Ebrake, and that way they are only on if I feel the need to be madtyte-europeanyo.

Eugh.
To be truthfully honest those LED halo's look like ass on an old classic like that Dodge. It might even look better to just use sealed-beams. If anything, a retro-fit or custom build reflector housing would do well for some nice HID's. Just, personal preference imo. Especially since the first thing you see on the fascia are the featured round headlights.
http://www.dapperlighting.com/collections/projector-headlights
The bulbs you can change out for some nice LED's. Cree or SMD led's are the ones that are the brightest and last the longest
http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-10W-S25-P21W-1156-Cree-Projector-12-LED-5050-SMD-Backup-Brake-Tail-Light-/261194778687?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cd06c083f&vxp=mtr
I really dislike the individual LED halo thing, it looks super cheap IMO. I think if they were the CFL style or whatever they are you could really pull them off. Honestly, don't even bother with anything under $60 for these replacement headlights. A buddy of mine tried a couple with different ebay generic styles and they were all garbage. He went with Roundeyes ones and spent $120 on them, the cutoff was incredibly better and they were incredible quality in comparison to the egay ones which weren't even sealed and got mud in them after one single puddle.
They're actually DOT approved and come with a really great quality bulb, his original plan was to get HID's but his light output was pretty near mine on my Integra.

The other really popular housings are the Hella H4 housings which with the Fresnel pattern on the lens should take a HID better than a clear I'd think. Those are a little cheaper but don't come with bulbs.
[editline]18th November 2013[/editline]
The only thing the ebay housings are good for are to cut up for mounting projectors and sealing up properly :v:

eBay reflectors are never good. You'll know because they have that weird T10 bulb in the reflector housing too. This was just a temp replacement for the dimmed sealed-beams. The light-scatter is everywhere. But it did light up the road farther which came useful for dark and foggy mountain passes
I'll invest into Hella, Cibie or something similar. But find a way to get HID's into nice projectors one day $300+
So I went trailer hunting today.. My general scope was nothing bigger than a 6x10 single axle single door.
Kinda roamed around tyler and found this bitch and it was by far the cheapest "new" one.
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1031910/IMAG0297.jpg[/t]
It's a 5x8 V nose and total "walk out the door" cost is 1,738.18
NOPE
So I got home and told my stepdad about my horror story's and told him Lets build a 6x10 about that time I notice parts of my Audi's used control arms that have been cut up I asked him WTH?
He made them door latches.

Time to start fabing up a 6x10 low boy trailer with a drop down ramp door with on board battery's and lighting.

all in all i'm pretty happy of how long this car has lasted, it's almost 26 years old and although i've put some money into some parts it still ran pretty damn good.
problem that i think happened was the head gasket blew, coolant everywhere in the oil, on the ground, and then immediately started knocking so loud it sounded like a tractor when i started it, a engine from a yard around where i live cost me about 90$, delivered and all, so some time, elbow grease and 90$ hopefully this will sound great again, the yard gave me a 3 year warranty with the engine, not sure how much that covers but they told me the car it came from had 40k miles on it so..

I'm not sure about LN3's/Pre Series 1 3.8, I think they had a single piece intake manifold, but if they're anything like later 3.8, it could be the intake manifold gasket leaking. It was a big problem with 3800 up to 2005.

His hips, knees and back are trashed, and yet he can't still not sit still for over 1 minute.

sounds possible i just got tired of trying to figure it out and fix it, figured pay the 90$ spend some time and have a decent engine
