Yo guys, I think my regulator/rectifier on my bike has blown but I'm not sure. My battery is dead (less than 1 volt lol), idling puts the battery up to about 10 volts but revving the bike actually decreases the volts. In terms of electrics, this bike is completely fucked.
So BANNED USERS MR2 headed to the shop for an alignment the other day after getting all new suspension bushings and ball joints. Turns out that without crappy old rubber bushing and worn ball joints, the passenger side front wheel rubs the strut a bit causing turning to be...problematic. So spacers it is. I was hoping to avoid them but until we replace the stock strut/spring with coilovers, they will have to do.
What should I paint on my off-color fender? Should I just bolt it on and leave it like that? Paint it to match? I was thinking of putting a statement on it. Something like 未完成 (unfinished) or something in my language that says "Gawa na ha!" (Is it done yet?/It's done now). Maybe even painting a political image like the US flag with some skulls instead of stars. I feel like it's a canvas it seems so boring just to be a blank white color IE [thumb]http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2013/118/6/6/american_skull_flag_stencil_____on_t_shirt_by_gluka70-d63ccpe.jpg[/thumb] But I'm afraid to find my car smashed up when I come back to it at a parking lot
i say do the your own language thing, would be p cool.
Sticcker bomb it if that's your thang.
Disconnect the battery and check the rectifier itself?
I can only do a diode test, I'll do it when I get round to it.
So tomorrow is "new upper control arm for the front" day and hopefully an alignment not to shortly after. I need the alignment bad because the left tire is feathering on the inside and outside (running hand towards the back) and sideways from the outside to inside. Plus new tires, whoo.
Got a chance to change my oil and my mtf finally, transmission feels like butter again! Switched over to Castrol GTX instead of Mobil1 since it's $18 and not $25, silly to pay top dollar for oil that is super thin and burns about 2qt every 3000~ miles. Also switched to Denso oil filters which are $2.92 on RockAuto and better or equal quality to upper tier $8-12+ filters. Cold start noise seems to have gone away leading me to believe the bypass valve doesn't work right on the WIX's Honda filters or something. Nice to have fresh oil in both, now I need to delete my EVAP and switch to OBD1 to get rid of my shitty P0420. After that I get to swap my headlights out for my restored ones, sell those off online for $220! After that I can grab a CT Engineering filter use my ITR intake arm, make a catch can, seafoam and send the injectors out for a rebuild. If anyone owns a Honda or Japanese make I'd really suggest Denso oil filters, they are dirt cheap and are up to proper spec. Hell, Honda doesn't even make the NSX oil filter anymore and just gives them the s2000 one which is the only other filter than the generic fram garbage. Denso's design is actually very interesting as it's 100% identical to the original NSX filters. Seems they possibly bought the tooling from Filtech. Toyota filters for older vehicles are all Denso filters and are known to be about the best for them too.
I can only do a diode test, I'll do it when I get round to it.
Wait, how could you check the voltage of the battery, but not the rectifier?
Wait, how could you check the voltage of the battery, but not the rectifier?
Im not sure I catch your meaning, as far as I know I can only do a diode test on the regulator/rectifier. Sorry if this is just me being an idiot, I've never worked on electrics before
If you were to do a diode test I think you might blow your multimeter, but when your bike is running, the rectifier should be putting out a voltage, which goes and fills up your battery with electrons (simply put) You can use this guide to help you test it, just put the probes on the connectors for the wires down to your battery (if accesible, else you can put the multimeter in place of the battery)
Is there a magic way to recalibrate a multimeter? the one i found at work reads .00002 ohms when you put the prongs together (or whatever setting it is you put it on when you want to check it for zero) It is not adjustable- to my knowledge.
Depends on how advanced it is, some have it, and some don't. Most of them don't, I think. But .00002 ohm isn't really anything to care about, you should've even have it showing if you're checking the resistance of something (you'd have to get pretty advanced resistances too, if the precision is within that)
Electronics check. My pop-ups aren't retracting. Shiet. Switch is broken
Put a jdm sticker on it and it fixes itself

There's resistance in the leads. .00002 is pretty damn close to 0. That meter is working properly.
Put couple of these in today. My steering wheel is a bit straighter then before and hopefully tomorrow, I'll have it aligned with new tires.
Got new bearings and headgasket. Turbo wagovan will be back together tomorrow. Excited to drive it again.
I really need to get my steering sorted, seems to be feeling more and more sloppy.
Changed the cam sync belt and the thermostat. Car finally gets up to the correct temperature when driving.
It's brake job Sunday. Fun to find previous owner neglect like mismatched bolts, loose suspension arms and dead rear brake pads. SOON
Not SOON enough!
[IMG_thumb]http://puu.sh/5sJ93.JPG[/IMG_thumb] Bought some audio for the new car :v: took a few hours to hide the cables but damn that shit plays good.
it got 2 bump y0 clutch2 you're the speakerfag here, are there any brands i should outright avoid if I get around to putting new speakers in my heap?
Ordering a tune up kit and a gasket set so I can get my engine running like it did in 85 again. Biggest part is putting on new valve guide seals, valve springs, roller rockers, pushrods, and a ported polished intake manifold.
I got hold of this.. And it works
I got hold of this.. And it works
I... What I get the radio part but wtf. A C5 Interior but a weird AC Control unit.
