I have a month off from classes for winter so Ill be posting 240sx things, just waiting on parts in the mail

Thanks guys. Life isn't lining up as of late.
Just this morning at 6:00AM I get a frantic phone call from my girlfriend. So I had to take her to ER and she has to undergo surgery tonight. If only my girlfriend was like an S13 I could probably unbolt her gal bladder and install a high-flow gal bladder unit as a replacement.
If only :suicide:

Wow dude, I hope everything turns out ok. I bid you both good luck and good karma.
Does she have to have her gallbladder removed? If she does, it shouldn't be too bad.
In response to signals, the gallbladder squeezes stored bile into the small intestine through a series of tubes called ducts. Bile helps digest fats, but the gallbladder itself is not essential. Removing the gallbladder in an otherwise healthy individual typically causes no observable problems with health or digestion yet there may be a small risk of diarrhea and fat malabsorption.
I hope that eases at least some worry.
I ordered my last bits needed for a manual swap.
So now I just have to wait for the packages to arrive.
Apparently the service manual says pull the dash. Every corvette owner says fuck that, pull the passenger seat out so you can crawl under the dash, remove the hush panel and ECM so it doesnt get wet and rip it out from there.
Definitely try to do it without pulling the dash first if you can pull it off that way. I've had to replace mine twice and I did it the FSM's way first which was to pull the dash and everything under it, after seeing how everything is put together under there I was able to just pull the glovebox and a/c box out and get at it from the side. Turned 8 hours of work into like 1.5 lol

Damn man, don't worry. Things will get better.
And since you rated my post agree, I'm guessing you do live in Cali. What part?
You can PM me if you don't want to post, if you are around my area I wouldn't mind helping you out.
IIRC So Cal, within driving distance of the Bay.

Killing some rust here and there and just have to put the engine together.
Still have to get money for a new windshield and an alignment. Got to pay for registration renewal and insurance too. Girlfriend is ok, she's recovering very well. Might spend the night again at the hospital but she can go tomorrow morning.

Glad to see things are looking up.
Don't forget video of the running engine when all is said and done. What do you have left to do before you can run it?

I will make an HD video of my perceived failure if it doesn't start stable lol.
Just gotta put the throttle body on, fuel rail, injectors. Then connect random rubber hoses (which are a thousand because Nissan 80's tech). Put coolant, start it. SOON
That engine of yours must be something crazy, it took me and 2 buds 4 1/2 hours from engine and trans mounted into the accord to drivable.
But to be fair, alot of the stuff wasn't even removed from the car like wire harness' and hoses and lines and shit. I only remove what I have to at the time.
So whats keepin' ya, just taking it slow to avoid issues or do you gotta get some stuff?
Fucking fedex...
No updates since Tuesday from when my parts where shipped out from Portland, they said that the parts would be here today, but no update, no delay noted and no parts.
I don't think fedex delivers Sunday so that leaves monday, the only day I work all fucking day, so...
WHERE ARE MY PARTS
Oh great, now it has no estimated arrival time.
Welp there that went.
Thats why I only use UPS, nothing good ever comes from FedEx...
Aside from shitty shipping companys, a friend of mine has an issue with the power steering on his 99 Elantra. We just replaced the pump and belt and it's still not running right, such as squealing. Now I know the belt is tight but regardless of where the wheel is turned the pump can't seem to do it's job.
Could it be that something is clogged?
EDIT: A belt was kinda loose.
I'm retarded.
That is all.
REDO.
I took the double barrel manifold apart and made some changes.
On the chopping block:

I decided I did not like how the gasket sat with the seperated opening in the mouth for the carb. So I wanted to cut that out and match the gasket and carb.

Also the two holes on the side that are oddly shaped, are for the EGR. One is open to vacuum and the other is open to exhaust. I am not using an EGR, and didn't want to buy a block-off plate. So I decided to combine making my own throttle return spring catch, along with an EGR block-off, as one piece.

Grinder... sawsall... sanding... cleaning. Worked well, and matches the gasket. I do not know if it makes a difference, but it makes me happier.
Cleaned some of the jagged burrs off the inside of the runners as far as I could go without changing the shape of the openings.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN MANIFOLD NUTS. 10 LBS MAX. I'll take that to heart, but I do not want to read it every time I open the hood, so... grinder... here we come.

R.I.P. manifold tightening instructions...

Hello steel. I got some scrap out of a metal bin. It was a perfect piece of steel, close to maybe 5/16" or something. Maybe it's 3/8, who cares. I just used it.

Bent a 1/2" level change into it so it will clear the throttle arm and allow the spring to travel laterally. Then I kind of cut it a little rounded and made it look less - scrap-y.

Then I made up a template for an EGR block off plate from the same material to fill in the void.

BOlted them down, tacked the pieces, pulled em off, welded the seam and reattached. It sits perfectly flush, so some red RTV will seal nicely on the lower part and it will have plenty of holding power.
Then I cut a bolt and slotted it to make a plug for the vacuum port on the last runner.

Next I'll remove the paint and repaint it, because the rest of the kickdown will attach to the lower half of the exhaust.
I thought I took pictures of the carb opening being cleaned up and not so jagged, but I guess not. Well, it's not as ugly as the pic previous - I promise you.
remember not to overtighten your manifold nuts.
Looks like they might break after more than 10lbs
remember not to overtighten your manifold nuts.

Literally about 1/4" above the manifold metal with the message. It took almost 30 minutes to completely remove all of it. My thought is since it was a small option put into literally 15% of slant six cars in 1978/79, that they thought it easier to leave instructions for a dealership mechanic to install, as opposed to an assembly worker.
But you may be right. 10ft/lbs might be as much as I'm supposed to tighten them, but I don't remember where I read that.
Shit, those manifolds were that rare? I had a lebaron that I scrapped that had that manifold, didn't think they were anything special.
I didnt know they put slants in lebarons. This manifold was only really used on the plymouth volare, and dodge aspen, and only for 2 years. It was a $250 piece you threw away. They're rare but not hard to find. Also aussiespeed and a bunch of othef companies make an aluminum version and 4bbl, and dual singles, 3 blow bys... Etc.
Having some trouble pulling the last brace but heater core is almost accessible. Just have to pull this last brace and pull the box, drain the coolant and pull the old core out and drop the new one in as soon as it comes in.
shit, this shop manual is awesome, didnt realize it had allllll the specs for the engines in it.

Bought a pair of valve covers today, lets see if we cant get this ford closer to moving on its own again.
Woohoo.. scheduled another X3 and a push to start Touareg for remote starts in two phone calls in a row today! Nifty. Gonna be Euro central in these parts.
Did a push to start CX-5 for remotestart yesterday.. that was nifty.
And my part timer did an RS in an Expediton last night.. and the guy called in today and said that now...
-the rear wiper
-rear left brake light
-rear parking lights
-4wd
-and airbag light
are all having issues.
Guess who forgot to tighten the bolt holding a bigass plug together in the driver's kick panel >_> grrrr.

How was the Touareg?
I did a 2009 last year at it suuuuucked. There's several ignition switch connections that require very specific resistances... like 25 ohms and 31 ohms if I remember right. So that was a pain. BUT... then we gotta remove the cowl panel/ wipers to tag ONE puny little brake status wire. Even with all that junk removed the wire sucks to tag. Here's the stuff taken apart:

That being said, the Touareg is a sweet sweet truck. The non-Porsche version of the Cayenne. Headlights move with the steering wheel.. that kinda thing. I want.
The 2012 looks to be an easier beast. No cowl to remove, etc. Will report on Friday the 13th when it comes to the shop for the work :)
Haven't had many new pics lately, since everything's been remote starts, and those aren't much to look at.
Finished a bracket for the throttle cable and sleeve to attach to. It's kind of hacky, but... once painted... it will look fine hidden under the air cleaner anyway...

It's an old battery tie-down that got chopped and then I bent it to hang beside the manifold and arc back slightly. The angle is aluminum, which is why it's bolted as opposed to welded on. Works fine.

Looks decent I'd say.
finally got another day to work on the engine swap, only have been working 20 mins every couple days, it sucks but i go out and there's a huge stress crack in my bell housing of my trans...wasnt there before, and i can't seem to find a place that sells just my bell housing, so my car is delayed another couple weeks -_- gah

Those are some times a bitch, but whats even worse is the metal strip that runs along the sides of the windscreen to protect the windscreen seal. Those are rusty mother fuckers.
Annnd uhhh Please do show us photos of cars harnesses I wanna look at different manufactures ways of wrapping their harness. I know VW does cloth tape....
