Haters gonna hate
~engine porn~
Literally. Started with no money, no tools, no skills. Everyone said I would fail and I should give up. Haters are a motivation. God willing I will start this tomorrow and it will roar as tantamount to the skills he gave me to make it
Dude, when I had to have my engine rebuilt and had no license, everyone kept telling me I wouldn't get anywhere with the car and should just get rid of it and never get off my ass and do the test. I did just what I said I would and no amount of "You won't" is gonna keep me from doing what I said I would.
Let no fools determine your future as only a fool would as such.
So where is that vidya, hmm?
Good luck ShiBan!
Love to see a video of the first time you turn that key.
Hope everything goes well.

I received lots of flak against this build really. Nothing better than everyone trying to put you down for something you love doing so much. You guys are taking "haters" way out of context. Have you not seen any of Kat Williams' stand up shows? He's a pretty funny guy.
Anyway. The brand new power steering pressure line popped so I gotta pick up a replacement one tomorrow. Then I will need to replace one more injector. Hopefully I can do a real test run that afternoon and perhaps drive it to get a new windshield

I've heard a lot of good things about Osidetiger and a buddy of mine sent out his S2000 injectors and got them back within the week when rebuilding his head. Apparently they are local to Socal so you might even be able to run them by there and get them when they are done or something. I'm gonna be sending my out someday to hopefully get rid of my terrible injector tick and smooth out my idle a little.

I dunno if you rebuilt the engine, but make sure to use break-in oil.
na dude, wheel bearing grease
[thatsajoke]
There is also a special grease used in reassembly, the stuff I've seen used is kinda pink and another is lightish blue. If I'm not mistaken the pinkish stuff is a higher grade for use with engines such as strokers.
Is this project a replacement for your silver pignose shibbo?
I think it's either a reimagining, reinvention, or resurrection. I know he used to DD it.

The one he's been driving around is his GF's DD, I guess this one used to be his DD, but he's been working on since I started hanging around here at least.

I don't think anyone doubted you here for a second, was it people else where?
Worked on replacing my chain and sprocket on my bike today. Had a friend over with this $5000 camera, so we thought "might as well record it!" Spent about 30 minutes trying to get the new rear sprocket on, because the new one was just .5mm to thick, so the bolts couldn't reach the nuts. We finally found out that we could take out the entire thing that the sprocket bolts to, and then we could hold the nuts in to the bottom of that, and then there was no problem getting it in place. Spent about 2 hours in total, had to cut the chain with an axe, 'cause we couldn't find the god damn lock. Still have to put on the new chain and front sprocket, because the new sprocket has the holes for the lock SLIGHTLY further away from each other, so the old lock doesn't fit, gonna call the dealer on Monday.
ITS ALIVE!!!! New heater core is in, just have to re-assemble my heater box and lower dash.

Fixed the leaky injector that was threatening my safety. Replaced the popped power steering hose. Drained and refilled oil and coolant. So much gunk already after first start-up. Shavings, rust debris, grease, etc. Tightened some bolts on the front engine cover. It made the coolant mix with the oil a bit, now it's ok. Runs like a champ now, just need to be broken-in outside.

Mostly my family, parents. Auto-industry coworkers. Classmates. Friends. 240SX compatriots. It's hard to explain without you stepping into my shoes. I suppose to shorten it all, no one can understand why this forum and our passion exists unless you were one of us.

Make sure to use break-in oil, if you've seen the episode of fast n' loud from two weeks ago, bad things happen when you don't use proper break-in oil.

Anyway, congrats. It sounds great.
It sounds a lot better than my rebuild.
Clackaty clack piston slap, still runs great though.
A rebuilt engine is nice. Congrats Shiban, hope you love it as much as I do.
Also I have 1 dead alternator, put in my original alternator for now, thought it was a wiring issue when I had a loose exciter(whateveritscalled) wire and I didn't connect it all the way.
So now I am getting another 100 amp and my car has a charging system again.
Besides that, anyone rebuilt an alternator? Anyone have some tips?
Congrats dude, just don't wrap it around a tree or something :v:
Didn't that one guy who supercharged his thing here a while ago either blow his motor or wrap it around a tree?
I think it was the guy who built the cobra, not hellstrike.

I just put in some Castrol convention 5W-30. I've read is that as long as it isn't synthetic oil, you're good. Just gotta drive it HARD
I did use special assembly lubricant though. It was Torco engine assembly lube. Good stuff when you're placing bearings, crank, camshaft, valves, etc. I used it on some bolts too so they won't seize and break-off later if I have to remove them again. Particularly useful for exterior shell fastening, etc. My friend would laugh and say just mix some ATF fluid and Lucas Oil, "same shit."

I've heard you got to take it easy the first 1000 miles or so.
Building an engine is pretty much the last place I would want to skimp

All done here for tonight. GG.
I wanted to start it, but the starter kicks in but the apex or... bendex does not work on it. Soooooo I have to take that off and lube it up. It has fuel and I primed the fuel lines. Has nice (kinda fresh) diesel in it. Shhhhould turn over when I pop that starter off...
Ohhh well.
