IF you're worried about no airbag, Grant makes wheels now, that adapt to your original airbag, or have airbags in them. Since my car never had airbags to begin with, I don't worry about it too hard. I found a wood "tough" style wheel in a old 68ish? mustang that is all cracked. The wood is fake, but the bolt pattern matches a 3 bolt-grant so it will go right on my hub. I'm thinking of remaking the wood part with real wood, I've never made a wood wheel before, but it's not like I'm gonna lose out on it. It's already fucked.
I never got the appeal of aftermarket steering wheels, honestly.

They were intended for old school cars, like mine where they didn't have airbags anyway. I went from a 16" stock steering wheel that was green and peeling, to a 13" steel wheel that keeps my elbows from smacking into the door armrest, so it definitly has an application on mine. I had a similar 13" wheel that came in a civic I bought. It made it kind of silly to drive. It feels like your driving a video-game simulation type wheel, but it's kind of fun with power steering. To each his own.

I think 99% of them are ugly as sin and unnecessary but there are a few ones that actually fit the car's style that I accept
I like the OEM style aftermarket ones.
I like the ones that were originally on the car.
Usually, the OEM wheels look the best, but not always. Like with BMW in the early 90's:

steering ratio brah.
also mad street respekt
I wish the civic had faster steering. It's so hard to catch a slide in it, because it's really loose in the back anyways, and you have to turn the steering wheel a thousand times to catch a slide that completely lets go all at once. I need to find a better, quicker steering rack to swap in. I don't give a FUCK about power steering, as long as it's quicker.

Just the fact that you can install a quick release is awesome in my book. You can disconnect in times of emergency and you can take your wheel with you for added security. These wheels also open your seating positions for adjusting. That and my original wheel is now breaking apart being 23+ years old it makes sense to change and update the wheel on old school cars. It's safer to actually hold a wheel that isn't going to slip out of your hands.
No airbags anyway; if I'm dead I'm dead
That feeling when ruts on the highway pull your car all over the road because manual steering.

That feel when I-20 going into dallas felt like you were racing in the desert.
The bumps. their ungoodly. Would easly bottom out any lowered car going faster than 50mph.
I got really close to bottoming out my audi at ~80mph.

To each their own.
Had my third coil pack go on the GTI. Fortunately I had one more spare. Looks like its probably time to buy the last three.
Also just purchased a new [URL="https://www.urotuning.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=034_density_dogbone_mk4-mk1TT"]dogbone[/URL] mount and axle.
The DS axle in MKIV's with the VR6 get compressed a bit too much if the car is lowered any. Mine was wearing down even before the car was lowered and I've just been putting it off for two years. My torque mount is also falling apart so hopefully some stronger rubber will help my engine stay in place between shifts...
Changed out my alternator with a couple buddies. Converted my car to OBD1 with a OBD1 ECU and a jumper harness, deleted the evap canister(won't work) and put in my new HID's. Now my car idles smoother and I don't have a CEL for the first time in over 3 years and 40k+ miles.
My new alternator seems a little off though, lights click brighter at higher revs and sometimes get dimmer around 2k. Buddy took a multimeter to it and voltage increases with revs, no idea I'm just gonna have it tested. If all goes correctly I'll probably grab a new battery tomorrow as well since I've already replaced my starter and alternator with remanufactured Denso units. I'll go down to Honda/Acura and get one of their 90 month warrantied $90 batteries!
Oh well, at least I don't have a glaring CEL over stupid emissions shit. It's so odd driving around with no extra lights on the cluster, can't even imagine what it's like for an Audi owner to eliminate all their lights. :v:
I won't know that feeling of no lights till I get an ABS pump and drop a resistor in-line for my brake lights.
Deys LEDs yo.

Hate to tell you I told you so but like on page 30 or so I told you to get OEM not 3rd party.

My adapter hub finally came in he mail, so I installed my OMP WRC wheel. I'm getting up at 7:30 tomorrow to get to Midas by the time they open so I can get an oil change and make it to NTB before a line starts to get an alignment done.
New NGK sparkplugs, pads, rotors, oil filter, air filter, Bosche Icon blades, and a few replacement parts on the way from rockauto.
I love my Grant wheel. It's an OEM wheel wrapped by Grant, but it really does feel and look so much better.
Anyways, got my hood pins installed today. No more shaking hood at 90+ mph. It's not that I don't trust the latch, but it's added peace of mind.

90? Christ, how fast do drive on average? 65+?
Do you not drive 65+ regularly?
[editline]31st December 2013[/editline]
I mean, 65 is slow even here
65 is illegal here. 50 is regular.
65 when I'm cruising, but when I'm passing slow people, I'll reach speeds of 120+ by the time I'm getting back into my lane.
80 is limit here
[editline]31st December 2013[/editline]
and none of the cars i drive are fast enough to ever hit more than 110 unless i floor it for five days.
