It looks like they heavily borrowed from Doctor Who, which had a computer system called the Matrix, a virtual world, if you die there, you die IRL. It was decades before the Matrix movies, although they're both great.

Oh, and for you Matrix and Half-Life fans - this multiplayer matrix-inspired mod is awesome.

I enjoyed reloaded. It had some memorable scenes like the two 18 wheelers colliding and neo going super saiyan. Also the Chateau shoot out with the ghost guys.
that "enter the matrix" game was really good and it described a bit of reloaded.
I remember When revolutions was released I loved and still love it because of it's greatness.I liked the second movie more than the rest.
I liked it, but it didnt really come to any conclusion at the end of the 3rd.
I always though the secdon was the best, but now I think it's the worst.
I actually like Revolutions now
Animatrix was the best out of all of them solely because of The Second Renaissance.
When I saw the first two, I was like 'What the fuck is wrong with those damn asshole machines?'
After seeing the Animatrix, I felt an incredible sense of sympathy towards the machines.
First one was awesome, second was pretty good, while the third seemed to forget that what made The Matrix great was the awesome action inside the matrix, and not the boring, grey real world.
Isn't the Matrix trilogy out on blu ray? I may go pick that up.

it's not a real video by the way, guys.
urgh so there's gonna be some shit about a "glitch in the matrix" so his appearance changes?
I called it first
Didn't that already happen in that MMO?
Also, I thik the second one is best, but that's my own personal feeling. I love "pattern-breaker" stories. Even throughout the entire first movie and in fact most of the second movie everyone was acting exactly according the plan of the machines. Well, except maybe Smith. But then in the Architect scene Neo breaks the pattern, shatters the machine and ventures into the darkness of the unplanned, organic, unknown future. :3 That and the fight scenes are totally kickass.
I thought I disliked Revolutions, but that was only because I didn't understand it. Now I think it's pretty good.
i decided to watch the first one and got to the part where he wakes up in that ship thing and hes in some kind of tube and i decided to stop the movie it was shit

Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it was shit. Maybe you have a shit taste in movies?
Agent Smith is a fucking badass.
I love all three of them.
Obviously, I loved the first, but I really think Reloaded was better. I just enjoyed it so much! Revelations was good, but it was somewhat boring to watch the battle against the things with everyone in those cheesy robo-body things. That really ruined it. Haven't seen the Animatrix, but I've heard it sucks beyond belief.
The thing that I find crazy is that Reloaded and Revelations were filmed simultaneously.
Also, there is no spoon.

I'm a total fanboy for the Matrix trilogy, I have the big 10 disc box set.
I remember watching the disc about the philosophy behind the Matrix, except it was like 4 or 5AM, so I was totally freaking out.
Does anyone like the Animatrix series of shorts? I thought some were pretty good, others really bad. My favourite was the two part-er 'Second Renaissance' film. That was awesome.
The Mаtrix movies are still bettеr than most of the othеr shіt relеased in the last 15 years

Why?
Why not?
The first movie was great, but the sequels were nothing but mediocre.
And yes, it deserved a spot in the 250-best.

Seriously, The Matrix is awesome. You should really consider giving it another chance.
Why doesn't Keanu Reeves want to do another movie? I've seen a few Behind the Scenes and it looked like everyone had fun making it, and it's one of his most popular (and probably money-making) movies, so why wouldn't he? I just can't imagine The Matrix without Keanu.

The guy doesn't fucking age, he's got no excuse.
Its a great movie, but have you guys seen the movie which inspired it (this one is truly a mind fuck with and amazing story!)
What do you mean inspired it. They came out the same year.
The Matrix sorta reminds me of the Bible. Especially with some of the names in the films, like Trinity, Morpheus, etc. Still, it's an awesome franchise!
There's religious references and threads all over the place in this thing.
I really didn't like how they ended the last one, jesus christ [sp]killing off the main character AND a secondary character... Just fucking no![/sp]
action movie game-changer right here. i even liked the second one, mostly just because the kung fu was over the top and who cares about the story.
but seriously. the matrix 1 was one of my main inspirations for wanting to be a screenwriter
I love the first one
First one was best, but the second and third focused more on action and fast-pacing, and i don't like movies that is only that. The first one was a thriller, the second and third were action movies. That's why so many people hate the new ones.
