Considering the fact that you mentioned them knowing about STDs and HIV and the like in your last post, you could say the same for sex to an extent.
I don't understand what you're saying?
I'm not against letting them drive at that age, because before then they're properly educated on driving safety. If they apply the same to sex, then the same happens.
OP is right. Age of consent should be abolished.
Replace it with length of consent :smug:
:quagmire:

I think you miss something in that list, namely having a functioning brain.
Too bad there's too many 14-year olds who appear to lack that at times.

You quite clearly say they let 14-year olds control things capable of killing.
Are you aware of what STDs can do to people?

Brain doesn't finishing developing into the twenties. 20-year olds can be and often are just as immature at sex as 14-year olds. wat do?
16 is fine. You can wait.

Which of these parties is more likely to be in the majority in, say, online gaming, stupid idiotic 14-year olds or stupid idiotic 20-year olds?

Yea. But in both cases education prevents that. Drivers education prevents them from mowing down civilians. Sex education can prevent them from spreading HIV/STDs/pregnancy. That was my point.
Point is they put them behind a several-ton giant machine capable of killing many people before they let them stick their condom-covered penis in someone else's vagina.
It really depends on where you live, in my opinion.

I'm sorry, what? What's the point of this?
And statistically, the latter, but I'm not sure what this has to do with anything.

Those things teach them about them.
The only thing that stops them from actually doing those things is common sense.
Education doesn't automatically make you smarter and more responsible.

How does anyone get caught doing that?

Does someone like really go to the cops and say ":( these 2 had sex and they're underage do something!!"

Pissed girlfriend at a untrustworthy boyfriend? Parent caughting the boyfriend in the act? It's not that rare in the news I believe.
Here our age of consent is 16. Which is fair for both sides i think.
18 year olds are not instantly pedo when they date a 17 year old. and 16 year olds feel good about gaining rights.

The fact remains that 20 year olds in general are much more developed than fourteen-year-olds and are more likely to understand, through more extensive life experience and emotional development, the full emotional and physical ramifications of sexual activity. A fourteen-year-old kid being fucked by some middle-aged guy will never be okay because the middle-aged guy not only has influence over the kid because of his age and strength, but because there is too great a difference in mental ability. That's why animal rights groups hate it when people fuck animals. Same thing.

It's very easy for the average teen to be educated on the risks of sex, but ignore them anyway because their hormones/sex drives got the better of them.

"Hey guys, I'm going to intentionally get an STD, or pregnant, or both! Because that sounds fun and I don't have the sense to realize these are bad."
Listen, I'm admitting that 14 y/os are ignorant to the facts and protection, but we can't deny them the basic liberty of sex between two physically developed people, because ignorance is common in that age group. It's common in most age groups up until the late 20s/early 30s. Brain developement doesn't stop until then, maturity is still very low for most people before then- drawing the line at 18-16 as opposed to 2 years less isn't doing anything but putting alot of consensual lovers behind bars and ruining lives because of a sex offender status.

But this isn't about JUST middle-aged men and minors- that's illegal regardless of AoC int he US, because of the age of victim.

What about a 16 y/o though?
At 16 kids are into sexual activities. Much more than when they were 14. No they don't have the experience. But should they have to wait 2 years just because some old folks say so?

Where do you live where this is true? Teenagers are sexually active pretty much all throughout their teen years.
But this isn't about JUST middle-aged men and minors- that's illegal regardless of AoC int he US, because of the age of victim.
I'll repeat what I posted on the first page.
IMHO, this is the best possible system. And by the way, OP was trying to say it's completely acceptable for middle-aged men to fuck kids.
"Canada's age of consent is sixteen - but we've got an interesting system. Kids thirteen and above can technically have sex without legal consequences for the partner - provided that their partner is no more than two years older. Kids sixteen and above can have sex with partners up to four years older. When one hits eighteen, one can have sex with no upper age limit for a partner."
It's the old folks who makes the decisions, not us. I agree with the 16 years old AoC, so it's not much of a problem to me.
What about a 16 y/o though?

I'm guessing you're sixteen. Believe me when I say that you're better off waiting, because when I look back now on when I was sixteen (and back then I'd have agreed with you) I realize that I was a total idiot back then compared to how I am today. Look, it's cool if you want to have sex with someone your own age or maybe a little older/younger at the age of sixteen. Not if you're sixteen and you think you know enough to fuck someone who is fifty.
And? Just because you haven't seen any doesn't mean they don't exist.
And there are plenty of them. Xbox Live and PSN prove that there are more than enough gullible idiotic 14-year olds.
And it proves that there are idiots of all ages too. What's your point?
I'm guessing you're sixteen. Believe me when I say that you're better off waiting, because when I look back now on when I was sixteen (and back then I'd have agreed with you) I realize that I was a total idiot back then compared to how I am today.
You're still an idiot if you believe that 16 year-olds shouldn't have sex "just because." Abstaining from sex for imaginary reasons isn't noble or affable. It's stupid.
If you can't bang girls on your own or a higher mental level than you then you should just become a eunuch.
You're still an idiot if you believe that 16 year-olds shouldn't have sex "just because." Abstaining from sex for imaginary reasons isn't noble or affable. It's stupid.
He never said that.
Meh, I'm done. I've already got everything I can say out, now I'll just be repeating. Good argument/debate, guys had good points. I'm not admitting defeat or anything but I'm kinda tired of arguing this now.
Same here. I still think the AoC should stay 16 like it is in Canada. However, Detective brought good points about 14 years old and I could agree with his logic.

Didn't you say that appeals to emotion weren't valid arguments?
Turns out appeals to ridicule also aren't.
