I was about to ask, "Why in the world would you make a CP post recoverable?" and then it occurred to me.
Evidence.
All hard deletes do not show up in the Event Log, they go unseen.

They show up in the log, but it is rarely used (correct me if I'm wrong)

There's probably more.
Post deletions hard and soft don't show up.

I think that was done through the modcp
Why were those pages of the OIFY deleted anyway?
Why were those pages of the OIFY deleted anyway?
To test a thread culling script. The coder assumed it would be the best place to test it on, but a few really good threads were lost in the process.

Why is moderating so inconsistent?

Every mod is different etc. etc.
There's a pretty big difference between a 12-hour ban and 7-day ban.

just putting this here again so people see it:

Mods aren't machines with especific criteria or hive-mind
Back before Facepunch 2009, what was the point of banning people for a couple of minutes?

Moderator discretion.
Also there is no need to post the image twice. It's not like people scroll down the page half way and go "WELL LETS NOT READ THE REST AND GO TO THE NEXT PAGE"

They weren't banned for minutes, it's just a glitch with the event log.
I was banned for 24 hours and then an hour, but the log says 24 minutes and 1 minute.
