They're viking metal. :eng101:
More like pagan metal, loser face :colbert:
I approve of all the albums posted here, this thread has my blessing.
Why isn't this in technical death metal?
I refuse to acknowledge Meshuggah as "Djent"
The problem with lists like these are that absolutely no one is satisfied with them and half the replies are going to be "Where's this band?" or "Why do you have that?"
Viking metal's a bit of a dumb genre Either you're going by the lyrics or you're going by the keyboards, long songs and weird structures which just makes it progressive black metal They're folk/black metal :colbert:
I always found Motorhead's Overkill and Operation: Mindcrime to be more speed metal and progressive metal respectively rather than (Traditional/Classic) Heavy Metal...maybe it just me, oh well whatever

Needs more Wintersun. And Equilibrium: But there's no folk metal section :(
A metal thread without venom! Are you crazy?
Yes replace Emperor with this. Much more important then anything Emperor or some of the other bands on there.
I'd really like to get more in metal again eventually, but I'm kind of concerned on whether or not to take some of the death/black stuff seriously. I mean, the album art and band name font is just so hilariously weird that I'm not sure if I'm meant to honestly think "Wow, brutal" or laugh.
Seriously... the people starting arguements are just being tools. ... Did I just say "Tool"? :smug: :mmmsmug:
Did you just call Lamb of God "alternative metal"?
Would be nice if you would include Korn into the Nu-Metal genre since they started it. It's the most classic Nu-Metal you can find.
Definitely some of the better stuff as well.

Black metal has some good album art. It's the music you're supposed to be listening to. Never take a bands image seriously. Never.
Yes replace Emperor with this. Much more important then anything Emperor or some of the other bands on there.
venom is thrash
lol elitist opinions on being a true fan or not You're a fucking idiot I don't really consider myself a 'fan' anyway. I just like some of their music.
im not really an idiot at all. puppets is not a mediocre album. i could see if someone said justice was but not puppets. not at all. but if you dont consider yourself a fan, then meh. do what you will
New Anthrax song with Joey BTW.
You need a Stoner metal section. And you need to include Dopesmoker.
Just needs Doom Metal and add some Sludge and Stoner albums in there.
hey guys this thread is Cookie's Metal Recommendations, not the big metal thread gosh The OP is for Cookie's recommendations (like it says) (did you get that) You should probably just all need to feel more strongly about your music taste. If you did you would have made this thread before Cookie did. He is the true hero of free speech in the music community. Be like me Just make recommendations rather than saying "you need to add this" and "where's the section for the sub-genre nobody likes except me"
You guys need to realise there is an image limit you can reach, that I went about 20 pictures over that those albums I had to remove. Therefore I removed less known genres such as Stoner Metal, and took out a lot of gems. There is no folk metal section, they're put in to the Melodeth section because I believe they are similar enough or both genres would be skimpy. Something else to mention is that some bands albums had more than one genre (Some under sludge were also prog, so were the djent ones, but I had to split that). With lamb of god I'd actually class it as Neo-thrash if anything which isn't an actual genre, so I put it as Alt Metal because it can't be put under a specific genre. The exclusion of "Master of Puppets" is for two reasons - one was after picking a thrash album to boot out, I saw Ride The Lightning already and realised that Master of Puppets is just the exact same album. Also, I tried to be as lenient as possible. I only just realised I ever put in Kill 'Em All in any section of the OP, and I hope you guys realised that I put in a lot of albums I didn't necessarily like, ie "None So Vile" I honestly couldn't listen to more than once. And the Viking Metal section had to stay in for the music sections viking. Any more comments on the OP? :eng101:
I disapprove this thread it fucking sucks [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] roots in groove metal I mean come on what are you even doing nice try though just kidding with the "fucking sucks" thing [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] lamb of god is modern groove ie new wave of american metal like machine head fyi [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] learn genres you have a lot of terrible choices [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] master of puppets and RTL are nothing alike go die [editline]26th June 2011[/editline]
Why isn't this in technical death metal?
roots in groove metal I mean come on what are you even doing nice try though just kidding with the "fucking sucks" thing
And what would you call it?
master of puppets and RTL are nothing alike go die
They're both thrash metal albums by metallica, it's not like they're polar opposites.
because it's wank wannabe prog tech death bs
I'm listening to it right now. It's terrible. [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] And compared to my tech death rec's, this is really basic stuff
roots is just proto nu metal bullshit it sucks complete balls
Still majority groove, still sounds good
metal sucks
metal sucks
Says the one with the alt called "Metallica Lover"
I sort-of think that this one should also be in the list. Maybe not, feel free to disagree.
