St. Anger is a superb experience. :smugdog:
If Master of Puppet had one of those one-off production values it would have been luckier. Some albums I actually favour for things in the production such as the guitar tone, or some things even as dumb as just the sound of the snare drum for me can make an album. What really got me in to Stratovarius was listening to Fourth Dimension in .flac and decent headphones - when I put the rock equalizer on, the snare drum was so epic :swoon:

FUCK IT ALL I NO REGRETS I HATE THE LIGHTS ON THESE DARK SETS
I NEED A VOICE TO LET MY SELF
TO LET MYSELF GO FREE
FUCK IT ALL AND FUCKIN' NO REGRETS I HATE THE LIGHTS ON THESE DARK SETS
PUT DOWN YOUR NOOSE
I'LL HANG MYSELF
ST ANGER ROUND MY NECK
The album is okay, it just gets boring after the second track.
but frantic is unforgettable

What the hell kind of EQ setting is "Rock"
Rock is such a vague term that two albums that fall under it might benefit from entirely different EQ settings

All it did was boost the bass/treble and drop the mids a bit
Not too sure man, I never got into them so I didn't know what album to pick, and I thought I'd just try and get away with not picking them because then I'd have picked the wrong album probably. Suggestions?
Still Life and/or Blackwater park are their best metal oriented albums in my opinion. Many Opeth fans would probably disagree with me, but to me these albums just ebb and flow perfectly, and the production is top notch as well, which I personally find a necessary part of a good album.

Well they're not only metal oriented. They're Death Metal, there can be reason to say the vocals aren't expressive.
I don't understand what you just said, but I only said 'metal-oriented' because I think Damnation is one of their best albums, and that's not metal at all. And this is a metal thread.

Yeah I didn't understand what you just said either. :smug:
I'm just saying that people could have the opinion that Death Metal vocals may not be the best way to express the style of music. That's all.
do you ever stay on topic akayz
you always go off on a tangent

Is that a bad thing?
Michael, chill out. Only discussing metal how it's meant to be discussed. :smug:

I'd still call it progressive metal. Growling vocals can be very expressive anyway. It's part of why Opeth is so great, Mikael's vocal styles really add an interesting dynamic to the music.

No denying that. He's superb.
I don't know why, but the "rawness" of their earlier work keeps me going back to their albums.
I'm not so interested in their prog rock work, although it's still nice.
the best metallica album was kill 'em all and the only good track off of st. anger was sweet amber there all arguments settled you can now move on with your lives

The argument was settled 2 pages ago and your opinion is not superior.
Stop with the Metallica bullshit
It's a god damn motherfucking opinion.
poor kids arguing about Metallica the real argument should be is Megadeth better ?

In my opinion Bathorys Blood Fire Death is more Black Metal than Viking even if some tracks are pretty close to the latter. A truely essential Viking Metal album would be Hammerheart, superb album.

Marduk are true black metal. Anyone who disagrees is a troll
You're forgetting that Master of Puppets is Metallica recycling the formula of Ride The Lightning. The opening track starts with a clean/acoustic intro, then leads in to one of the fastest songs on the album as an intro track. The 2nd track is the title track which is praised by fans and can represent the quality of the album by being as good as the album as a summary. The 3rd track then is more laid back, less thrashy, and more heavy. The 4th track starts with clean/acoustic guitars, gradually getting heavier until the last 2 minute or so climax. Track 5 then breaks the dramatic feel with a fast thrash track. Track 6 is the track that is dubbed as the underrated gem of the track. The final 2 tracks feature arguably the album's best song, then an instrumental, though MoP has the last 2 flipped around.
Good day to you sir.
that's not recycling they did the same thing on ajfa. it's a reoccurring thing and obviously something they did on purpose
and NO ONE says escape is a gem
Stating a group of facts is not an opinion at all. Literally anyone could have said what you just did, I get no sense that it's you who says those things. :smugdog:
it isn't he's just listing facts that in no way have anything to do with the quality of the music
