Fun fact, Vaginal Impalement had child pornography on the cover of one of their splits with another shitty band. So if you google their band name ....

And people say Evil Chuck is the Godfather Of Death Metal...
^ Lol :v:
Also, The Who seemed to have down the growling part first.

Also was it Chris from CC the first to use guttural vocals in death metal?
And was grindcore the first genre to use growls?

Fuck I love this song
I know they're mainly grindcore but they're considered Death metal as well.
Necrophagia did some deathy stuff back in 1984, but I don't think they did gutterals. I've only heard their Seasons of the Dead (1987) album, and he kind of borderlines the gutteral several times.
It amazes me how many badass bands I can discover in one day.

I hope that everyone here knows that Slayer was the one that really started death metal?
The name Infested reminds me of Infestdead. Dan Swanö's old band.
I hope that everyone here knows that Slayer was the one that really started death metal?
Well they didn't quite start it but yeah they were an influence. Every old school death metal band has cited Venom and Slayer as their biggest influence, or at least two of. Kreator and Celtic Frost were huge influences as well. And then it was Death, Obituary, Morbid Angel and Possessed which created the death metal sound. Still wasn't completely perfected with those bands though, Napalm Death and Cannibal Corpse were the ones who got "proper" growling down.
We have a lot of Death Metal bands here in Iceland. Check 'em out
I hope that everyone here knows that Slayer was the one that really started death metal?
No, not really.
The drummer for possessed heard Dave Lombardo playing once on the radio, and then took that and used that in early possessed records.
That's about the most you can say they did for death metal.

There's a difference between growling, and two rock slabs grinding against each other, the sooner Deathcore figures this out, the better.

While I don't much care for Behemoth (vocals irritate me), that music video would be ten times better if it involved a clip of that lady feeding the moshing cats (moshing to the song, of course).

I've been listening to Origin a lot lately.

Bahh Obituary is boring... I remember listening to Obituary all the time in the 90s, it's just so basic, I don't see how you can still be into them unless you're new to death metal.
So is Death and all of that...
One band that has always kept my attention though is cryptopsy.
