:/ Just couldn't imagine myself still that into Obituary/Death, they were pretty cool the first few years I listened to them.
Obituary I can understand, but Death boring?
Damn, you must've played Individual Thought Patterns to death ( pun).
Bahh Obituary is boring... I remember listening to Obituary all the time in the 90s, it's just so basic, I don't see how you can still be into them unless you're new to death metal.
So is Death and all of that...
One band that has always kept my attention though is cryptopsy.
I don't agree with the first part very much, I enjoy Death and Obituary a lot, but goddamn, I fucking LOVE None So Vile.

Fuck, yes.
"I do not want to bore you with details, but I can no longer hide the fact that I am seriously ill and waiting for my multi-stage treatment, which can take up to several months. Thus, we have not choice but to cancel the coming summer festivals, planned for September and October tour of Russia and the Baltic States and the November tour of the USA. I've got a rather difficult period, and a lot of work but I became hardened in the fire, is not it? You know me, so that you know that out of this I will become stronger than ever. We will then rebook all the concerts and return with greater momentum. At this time, I feel good, my head is ready to fight the disease, everything is under the control of professionals. I have with me the most wonderful and loving woman, family, team, managers and people from publishing companies who are doing everything to support me. I do ask of you just a little bit of patience. I would add that the fact that in the near future we will not be touring but will not be in hibernation. We have a lot to offer you in the coming months, Behemoth will be working on many other fronts. In coming days expect release of our latest clip "Alas, Lord Is Upon Me." Ensures that this is the most perfect, the most provocative and stimulating I have ever made a picture. In addition, we will finish work on the DVD release "Evangelia Heretika" which will be released in November of this year. We will keep you informed about what is happening in our camp. Horns Up! Behemoth are cancelling all shows this year... Nergal is very sick :saddowns:

Can someone recommend to me good Slam Death Metal bands?

Infested

and
Some of Disfiguring the Goddess (A lot of their songs contain guttural vocals. If you are into that sort of stuff, you are in luck. I hate it though.)

Those are the only two I am familiar with and can remember right now.

That's depressing. Any news on what exactly Nergal is fighting with? The fact it requires multi-stage treatment suggests it's something very serious. :saddowns:
One of my favorite death metal songs ever:

Media tags are not working.
You want to die and kill for God.
Where has the world gone, where is the warmth of the light?
What happened to living for the sake of life?
What kind of god tells you to die?
You ignorant slave - such a waste of life!
You want to die and kill for God.
I should take this moment to thank you for helping the world to see
How religion is to blame for the end of humanity.
Now you can go back to strapping the bomb to your chest.
Maybe I'll see you later when the time is right.
To fall...into a sea of flesh
Kill for God
What happened to your mind?
Why must we all die?
The only way to be safe is to kill your god.
Thanks, and guttural vocals was what I was looking for too. In my opinion, I've noticed that's what separates Slam from Deathcore.

Here's some more of what I'm looking for in terms of "Slam Death Metal."

Oh. Well Infested doesn't use guttural vocals, but Disfiguring the Goddess does. Also, it is more than just vocals that separate the two genres. Brutal Slamming Death Metal has more complexion and less chugging than Deathcore.

Yeah, I can't get into those vocals. Personally I don't see the aesthetics of it. I do like the instrumentals, though I was never a big fan of slow tempos.

No, he doesn't want to say. It does sound very serious though, shame :saddowns: Hope he gets better soon.

I heard Pathology is good.
They're ok. I bought Fleshwrought's CD today. Best new DM I've heard this year.

Basing my opinion of Fleshwrought off this song, then, no offense Ian, but you either have a really bad taste in death metal, or you've been living under a rock for the past year.
I can name off at least one band who released their debut this year who are a lot better than this band (again, in my opinion). If you like mindless technical death metal, then yeah, I guess this band is perfect for you - nothing but blastbeats and guitar jizzing.
And if you think they're edgy and cool or some shit because of that "sax" solo, how about you get some death metal with actual saxophone in it? Case-in-point, NahemaH.
Not to shit all over you or your opinion Ian, but I honestly expected more taste from you. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.
[/Blind and ignorant "my opinion is superior to yours" rant]
Actually, I found a review that pretty much sums up my thoughts on what I've heard so far. I'll cut out all the crap and just give the conclusion, since it's a pretty good wrap-up.

There's no real motion, there's no real destination, there's no real point. It's like DragonForce, minus the solos (oh wait, that equals zero...teehee), plus riffs that sound like solos. Overall, if guitar wankery gets you off, You'll love this. Otherwise, borrow the disc or get a torrent, get the tracks "Mental Illness" and "Conceptual Flesh", and step off of the Fleshwrought (I MADE A FUNNY; HURR HURR) of this band.
Well guitar wanking does kinda get me off :v:. But to be honest I haven't heard much death metal released this year. What are some of your favorites?
[editline]07:50PM[/editline]
Oh and I really like Fleshwrought because of the unorthodox djenty riffs and complex drumming and structure. So pretty much what you said (blastbeats and guitar jizzing).
This is a one man band from the state I live in; Bloodsoaked. I can honestly say that seeing him live was amazing.
"Suicide," "Blind Date Beating," and "Gates to Hell" (Obituary cover), are what I suggest to check out.

Off the top of my head, the only actual death metal album I can think of (that I like) released this year is Embryo's debut, No God Slave.
However, check out this cool industrial death metal band I just found:
