Hell, I preordered the CD/DVD pack. Probably a waste of money, but meh, it looks cool on my desk. :downs:
new album has an awesome cover. I really dislike the new songs though.

Time for Clover's super breakdown on his opinions of each song! Uprising: Sounded a little Manson-ish the first few times I heard it, still a good track though. His vocals didn't seem to match up to how rough/angry the song was, but again, still good. The Resistance: Love the spacey intro, piano made it all the better. Low-key vocals, the backup vocals in the chorus aced this song for me. Undisclosed Desires: I was hooked on this song since I heard the 30 second preview. The verse had be a bit thrown off, but the chorus was just amazing. It does sound like it could almost be a pop song, but they somehow held it off just a bit, keeping it Muse. Backup vocals again make the chorus so much better. Definitely my favourite track on the album. United States of Eurasia: Hey Queen. Still a good song. Guiding Light: I think either this or USoE would be my least favourite songs. But hey, it's Muse. Still awesome. Some parts reminded me of U2 for some reason. Unnatural Selection: Faster paced song, good overall. MK Ultra: Goddamned awesome, is what this is. Second favourite track. I Belong To You: As Muse has been doing a lot with this album, they're trying different song styles. This one gave a hint of... French pop, maybe? Good, though. Exogenesis: Combined, all great sounding, good symphony and good matching vocals to the mood of the song.
No, I've been listening to that album and can't find it. Not sure if I'm thinking of something else, but IIRC the video was a lot like Viva La Vida.
Time Is Running Out.
Seriously? Pop? No way in hell. They're nothing like pop at all, seriously, Listen more, I don't know where you're getting that from.
How can you honestly think they aren't pop? Not Britney Spears pop but definitely pop. I don't mean it in an offensive way. Starlight is most definitely a pop song, so is Uprising. I got in an
internet
argument the other day who kept insisting that Muse was progressive rock, but they really aren't. They definitely have progressive rock influences, but when it comes down to it, ever Muse song is in 3/4 or 4/4, they follow pop song structures, and nothing in their music is too out-there. But this is a good thing. They're a rock band through and through. Accessibility isn't always bad for a band (though trying new things isn't bad either, and Muse does that on the new album - Just not in the direction I was hoping for).

It shouldn't, as long as you like the songs.
http://www.mtv.co.uk/artists/muse <- Uprising video. [sp]Those teddys are creepy[/sp]
Hahah, that's fucking awesome
Had this album for a week now :smug: I gotta say it's very good, it's like Absolution mixed with Showbiz.
FYI Who Knows Who is on the Uprising single (The song they did with Mike Skinner/The Streets) [editline]07:54PM[/editline] Oh, and a remix of Uprising by Does it offend you, yeah? which quite frankly does offend me.
Hell, I preordered the CD/DVD pack. Probably a waste of money, but meh, it looks cool on my desk. :downs:
I meant a waste of money for the DVD, but I'm an avid Muse fan so who gives a shit. So stop rating me boxxy plz :P
Had this album for a week now :smug: I gotta say it's very good, it's like Absolution mixed with Showbiz.
It came out on the 14th. You haven't had it for a week.
Meh the vocals are okay but the guitar is one riff the entire song....
screw anything new, Absolution was the last word in violent self-destruction, and even their B-sides back then (The Groove) rocked.
It came out on the 14th. You haven't had it for a week.
Do you know what a leak is?
I meant a waste of money for the DVD, but I'm an avid Muse fan so who gives a shit. So stop rating me boxxy plz :P
I don't mind paying an extra bit, all the more for Muse. The DVD's awesome anyway
I got in an
internet
(LOL IM SO FUNNY) argument the other day who kept insisting that Muse was progressive rock, but they really aren't.
...? They ARE Progressive Rock [editline]10:43PM[/editline]
screw anything new, Absolution was the last word in violent self-destruction, and even their B-sides back then (The Groove) rocked.
But New Muse is awesome, they aren't even really that different than their last albums.
The DVD is pretty badass.
listened to some of their new songs. i didn't like them. but then again i don't like muse so I wasn't expecting to. hey i gave it a listen at least.
...? They ARE Progressive Rock [editline]10:43PM[/editline] But New Muse is awesome, they aren't even really that different than their last albums.
Muse are not prog. Learn the meaning.
It's not as good as their older albums but I like Undisclosed Desires the most.
It came out on the 14th. You haven't had it for a week.
Oh yes I have, just not legally :ninja:
New album = bad :( i even liked BHR but this is just pure crap.
I agree with the people, the new album wasnt the same as the others it was just a little less YAY MUSE ROCK ON, OH KAY SLOW TIME QUIET COOL, LOUD AGAIN YAY, now its like.. meh..pop more for fans i think, its not from them like the original albums, i think there getting a bit more cocky thinking people will still like it so what ever.
YAY MUSE ROCK ON, OH KAY SLOW TIME QUIET COOL, LOUD AGAIN YAY
Not all Muse songs follow that format anyway. Plug in Baby, Hysteria, Stockholm Syndrome, The Small Print, Ashamed, Assassin. I seriously don't see what people have against the new songs.
New album = bad :( i even liked BHR but this is just pure crap.
Whats with the radiohead fans hating on Muse lately?
Someone needs to leak the 5.1 extended Resistance DVD, it sounds godly and there's alot of cool shit on there...
Whats with the radiohead fans hating on Muse lately?
Says who?
Whats with the radiohead fans hating on Muse lately?
Well one thing that annoys me here is that it's quite obvious that Muse are trying to sound different and original, where the changes to their music are just very shallow, i liked them better when they just made music for the sake of music. Good bands don't try to make their music unique so other people think they are so great, they just don't give a fuck what people will think of it. ( i may as well bring radiohead into this), Like with OK Computer, an album they thought would be hated by critics, when the record company first heard it, the predicted album sales fell to a quarter but it went on to be a fucking huge album. Then the change to their next album, KidA with a mostly electric style, i guarantee nearly all bands would try the exact same formula as before if they made an album so successful in terms of critism and sales, instead of learning completely new fucking instruments as radiohead did. That may be why it's attracting more radiohead fan hate, but yeah i just checked rateyourmusic, and the new album and its singles are rated quite alot less than previous albums, no that doesn't make it a bad album, just pointing out less people in general seem to like it, so maybe that's just why less radiohead fans like it. All that aside i just don't like this album, i think the lyrics are pretty much rubbish, and the actual music isn't much better, but to each to his own.
