I guess it's neat that they're trying new stuff, but I really wanted to hear more from them on the symphonic end. Exogenesis was fucking incredible.
I have very mixed feelings about the new album. I really like Supremacy, Animals, Unsustainable and Isolated System. Panic Station and Liquid State are also quite good but rather short for my taste.
On the other hand there's, well, Madness. Which is just awful.
As a whole, I think I might like it more than Resistance, but it's still not on par with their first 4 albums.
I liked the new album. This was definitely better than Resistance, but obviously not comparable to their older stuff. I still enjoyed it a lot, though.
I really like it, not as much as pre-resistance, but yeah much more than resistance
I like the new album, but at first it just felt weird in general.
Probably just not used to it yet, I'm starting to like it better the more I listen to it.
Supremacy intro is probably my second favorite muse intro after Citizen Erased
Just listened to the new album, pleasantly surprised to hear a lot of that symphonic stuff I mentioned get integrated with the synth. Sounds incredible.
I'm actually getting quite annoyed with myself over how fanbyish I am for Muse. I mean, I pretty much like everything they do. I didn't like unsustainable at first but now, for no apparent reason, I do. I suppose its a good thing in terms of having something I can almost guarantee I'll like, but its also says a lot about me, most of which is not good.
That's a pretty common thread I've found with Muse, because they change with pretty much every album, every album is an acquired taste.
I think the problem with The 2nd Law is how just kind of bland it is, the whole second half of the album after Animals (barring Liquid State, Unsustainable and Isolated System) is completely unmemorable.
Having said that Animals alone redeems the whole album, it's that fucking good a song.

But you see, I'd disagree with you there and I think that's what makes The 2nd Law fairly unique. There doesn't seem to be a consensus regarding which songs are good and which songs are bad. I mean, I think Follow Me is probably better than Animals but I know others who hate both.
Really digging Follow Me.
Such a feel good song.
so far i'd say my favorite tracks are supremacy, madness, save me & unsustainable.

The sound at the start and throughout the song is a recording of the heartbeat of Matt's baby when it was just a fetus, which is cool.
holy shit, Panic Station and Superstition fits perfectly together

I didn't like Madness at first, but it's kinda grown on me. The new album certainly isn't their best, but it's not too bad.
Also does anyone think of Franz Ferdinand when they listen to Panic Station?
Or is it just me?

I don't see the connection

Rated winner for Citizen Erased.
The album is growing on me but as always, there are some true gems but there is like 1-2 songs I really don't like. My biggest problem is, Madness is a single meaning they're going to play it at every live show probably from here on out (I go to a lot of their shows). While they could be playing something actually good, they're dicking around with that.
I don't see why everyone seems to hate Madness. I really like it. Matt said it was the song he was most proud of on the album. Besides, after you hear it live I bet the song will grow on you.
Is it just me when matt starts singing explorers i am expecting him to start singing "I'm floating around in ecstasy, so... ".
and the solo on madness couldn't sound any more like queen if he tried

No, me too. Btw, that track is one of the best in album.

the whole song reeks of queen, from the guitar solo to the vocal chords, especially right here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mq9zhpBweDk&feature=player_detailpage#t=116s
There once was a QUEEN who fell in* love with a PRINCE, They made beautiful love and music together that echoed through their RADIOHEAD. They produced an enchanting child. The glue that kept them together. Their MUSE.
This made me cringe so badly. I like Muse and all but it's kind of embarrassing to be part of the fanclub after they've made songs for Twilight. It just makes me so sad that I have to share this with them.
Got general admission tickets for San Diego, Los Angeles night 1 and Los Angeles night 2. Fuck yeah. Supremacy 3 times.
Thinking of getting some tickets for LA 1/2..
This has probably already been mentioned, but does anyone think that "Supremacy" would make an awesome Bond song?
Especially now that the new film is coming out.

At least it can't be any worse than "Die Another Day".

Go listen to your My Chemical Romance and shitty deathmetal kid.
I still can't get into this album. I guess there's not much I can do about that.
