Best I've seen posted in this thread in a long time now.
some doodles i made on my government review, nothing special, certainly deserves no thread
They're kinda nice Do Joey's tribal tut, post the result!
You look like a connoisseur of melancholy
Well, I get depressed quite often.
One last question before I finalise this piece; which brightness-contrast setting do you prefer? Low-res because the image is 11,000x6000 and takes one hundred years to save
It's really low res that i can't say anything about it. I'd prefer the one on top. [editline]13th May 2012[/editline]
11,000x6000
I can't even create a new document that big :v:
Ok fixed the problem. Current progress. Constructive criticism is encouraged, I'd really appreciate it.

Maybe a train track?
Supposed to be a pipeline, the idea being that the trees are drained of energy (enslaved, more or less) and this energy is pumped off to civilisation

It being a landscape I would suggest using 1 maybe 2 colours that arn't from the standard landscape's greens, greys, and browns palette. Maybe applying these to the distant city, as currently your eyes are drawn to it through the road/leaves on a breeze.
I was not creative enough to color this, so added fog instead. And the grass next to the pipes seems too dark.
maybe it's just me but I can't really place where he actually it, ie floating above the mountains (?) or between the mesas or w/e
Also the mountains look a bit ill defined, its hard to picture their form. Otherwise, great job!
Thanks heaps for the feedback guys.
maybe it's just me but I can't really place where he actually it, ie floating above the mountains (?) or between the mesas or w/e
He's actually floating in the foreground, he isn't a giant. There will be a man sleeping underneath him, he's the energy body of the man. (I have planned this out in a final layout a few pages back, it's just that this is the final and I haven't started on the sleeping man yet)
Also the mountains look a bit ill defined, its hard to picture their form. Otherwise, great job!
If you mean detail-wise they're really roughly drawn for the moment just to get a sense of composition/colour. Form-wise yes I see what you mean, they do look a bit flat, I'll check out some more reference photos. Thanks again guys. Here's an unrelated task for a different unit. The text is just a placeholder at the moment. Again any CC is hugely appreciated.
Text in the upper left is a tad hard to read, area needs to be a bit dark maybe Might just be me though The drops are also a bit hard to see against the background, they need to be a tad brighter. But as a whole I really like that so far :)
Last night I was all like "Oh fuck I forgot Mother's Day" at about 12 midnight. By 4am: One for my grandma (not as good because I started first): [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2319552/InkyFox.png[/t] One for my ma (better as I warmed up): [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2319552/InkyGiraffe.png[/t]

Lack of value changes in the colour of the land makes for a lack of depth. Always use references! The figure is brilliant
I thought it would be cool if the fma series was a live action movie, so I wanted to make a couple of concept artwork for that, but the designs are already so good, it's hard to change anything :p [editline]14th May 2012[/editline] looked more cartoony than I wanted it to
I have seen people drawing deer-people without even mentioning Teen Deer =[
Looking forward to seeing Al if you do him :)
Just testing some more, I understand it's probably not the correct way of doing this, but unless somebody can tell me how to merge text into one block without losing edit-ability then that would be swell. [thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10565588/Pictures/Inception_Quotes_Sheet.png[/thumb]
I have seen people drawing deer-people without even mentioning Teen Deer =[
well of course, it's a very old concept [editline]14th May 2012[/editline]
Looking forward to seeing Al if you do him :)
yeah that's gonna be a challenge
I remember in one of the old deviant art threads someone found a really bad artist with a generic furry character attacking an OK artist who made a vaguely similar concept character for how they stole the character just for attention. For some reason I remember the one they were attacking had been posted several months/years before the attacker's own piece
lol seriously I can't remember
That reminds me of when someone left this comment on Detlef's RA comics a while ago.
the wolf thing looks kinda like a oc of mind yet i just fond this comic yesterday and iv had her for a year ._.
Even better was that it was an adoptable.
oh shit is that what I was thinking about? I remember detlef's thing now but I swear it was about a wolf thing or something
naw I think I recall there was something else too... but lol at her thinking I stole her design
Low-res because the image is 11,000x6000 and takes one hundred years to save
That's insane, there's absolutely no need to have so big canvas unless you're doing a really big and detailed print or something. I'd bet most of the professional illustrators aren't using canvas' that large.
